Opening credits: Superman
Closing credits: Wall-E (though when I think of closing credits, I often think of The 40-year-old Virgin and the fake-out they do where they look like they're going to credits and then suddenly burst into a delirious full-blown "Age of Aquarius" musical number)
Favorite movie gun (ideally, one that is not a real type of gun)?
P.S. As for movie royalty, there are a lot of great ones, but Kuzco has his own theme song guy... AND IT'S TOM JONES!!! :)

Existenz organic dream weapon thingy. Have to see it to understand.
Second place would be The good, the bad, and the ugly. Scene where Tuco walks in from the desert. He hits up a shop and dismantles several pistols. Then piecing parts together for an ideal shooter. Leaves with cash, gun, and booze.
Favorite civil war era movie?

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, again. (I also probably would have used it as my anwer to the favorite titles question.)
That scene is awesome, Pan, and Tuco is one of my favorite characters from all filmdom. I wish there was a sequel where he comes back and garottes Blondie in the middle of the night.
Favorite Sergio Leone movie that IS NOT TGTB&TU?

Its a shame Leone didn't make more films. The opening scene from Once upon a time in the west was incredible. He could really set a scene. Something Quentin has tried to emulate.
Favorite Tarantino scene?
Doodlebug Anklebiter
The opening to Reservoir Dogs, all 10 minutes up to the "Little Green Bag" song. (NSFW!)
EDIT: Aargh! The sound's out of synch at the end!
First Tarantino I saw as a lad. Blew my mind.
Woops--next question: Favorite nineties indie flick?

ClerksReservoir dogs
Basquait
Lock, Stock, and two smoking barrels
Happiness
Favorite though has to got to Cohen brothers Fargo.
Favorite M. Emmet Walsh film?
Comrade Anklebiter
Well, there was one with Timothy Spahl as a cabbie, I think, with his depressing, ugly, council-flat livin' family that made me weep called something like All or Nothing, but, I am, of course, going to have to link Land and Freedom.
EDIT: I can only find it in German.
Also, Vive le Galt!
What's your favorite romantic comedy?

Probably either Love, Actually or most anything with Drew Barrymore (I'd say 50 First Dates or The Wedding Singer are my two faves).
Last movie (and/or song from a movie) that made you cry?
X-men 3 J/k
I think the last time I got teary eyed was with As good as it gets.
Last movie you saw that was billed as a horror/drama/comedy/action/documentary but really should have been labeled differently?

Best drug abuse movie that's not a comedy and that hasn't already been cited?
Requiem for a dream

Never seen one, but this isn't "favorite" it's "best," and it seems that Black Swan got the most award noms and wins, so I suppose that one is probably his "best"(though I'd vote for his short Fortune Cookie as having the best name).
Best or funniest Eddie Murphy movie (not necessarily the same, so feel free to name 2)?
Stiehl9s
for me Harlem Nights was both the best and funniest.
Best ganster movie set during/around prohibition?
Kirth Gersen
Bonus points to anyone who can name the (uncredited) novel & its author that were ripped off for the script.
Hint: It's one of my top 10 favorite novels of all time.Comment 1: The movie was still good; I just wish they'd given credit appropriately.
Comment 2: The Comrade's question still stands; this one is just for extra credit.

I did some on-line research a while ago on this question and for this website, and Kurosawa claimed that the inspiration for Yojimbo was actually The Glass Key film, which, unfortunately, is not available through Netflix (or wasn't when I was doing the research).

Sense and Sensibility--which she wrote, btw. The script, obviously.
What's your favorite Alan Rickman role?

Kurosawa is mixing up his Hammett titles, then. Yojimbo bears no resemblance to TGK, but is an almost perfect rendition of RH. I should know -- I've read them both at least 3-4 times.

I don't believe there was ever a straight Red Harvest adaptation. Also, keep in mind that Kurosawa's Shakespeare adaptations aren't always straight covers--I don't see why AK couldn't have adapted GK and have it come out more like RH. Also, and no offense, I am inclined to weigh AK's word about his inspiration a little more heavily than yours.

There's one scene that parallels a major event in TGK (the parallel is even closer in Fistful of Dollars), but the plot, setting, and general pacing of events is RH all the way. Maybe AK was just straight-up on a Dashiell Hammett kick?

My apologies. Let's see the last question was about the Irish War of Independence, and I didn't think I answered that, but I doubt that question is going to go very far since there appears to only be two movies in existence about said subject.
Hmmm. New question. Hmmm.
What's your favorite Humphrey Bogart flick?

Lame, as in your answer is lame or that Casablanca was lame? 'Cuz, just so we're clear, Casablanca was far from lame.
