Golarion Interactive Atlas?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I have played in the Forgotten realm setting for over 20 years. I have the Forgotten Realms interactive Atlas which has been an invaluable tool in my campaigns and various adventures. I was greatly disappointed with how little support it had gotten from Wizards. They did not advertise it very well, I just happend across someone who had it then had to buy my own copy.

I was wondering if there had been any ideas in making an interactive atlas for the world of Golarion. I know new maps are constantly being added, but that is what updates are for. I have the Campaign Cartographer from Pro fantasy to make my own maps. Pro Fantasy was contracted to create the Forgotten Realms atlas. My map making skills with this CAD system are sub par at best.

I would definately buy an Interactive Atlas of Golarion. I have stepped away from the Forgotten Realms and have moved on to bigger and better games with Pathfinder and Golarion. The level of Product release as well as interesting and well written options are amazing!

How much of a market would there be for an Interactive Atlas for Golarion?

I was underwhelmed by the FR Interactive Atlas when it first came out, and the passage of time hasn't made me like it any better.

For one thing, it isn't an Interactive Atlas - it's little more than a collection of separate maps (with, quite often, very different look and feel). Nowadays MapQuest, Google Maps et. al. have raised the bar considerably; if you don't have seamless zoom from world-spanning level to a single small group of dwellings, with additional detail showing up as you zoom in, you might as well pack up and go home.

I think it might be possible to create something like that today; there are PDF versions available of maps covering much of Golarion, which would make a good starting point (and eliminate registration errors that would show up if you scanned in maps from paper copies). But there's an awful lot of work getting from there to a finished product.

Way back in 2008 there was some discussion about an interactive atlas. SirUrza had one posted up but was asked to remove it. There was some suggestion that a developer was working on a commercial version but nothing has come out.

This is a great idea. Game maps have been made with the Google Maps API, It wouldn't be particularly difficult to create an online collaborative map of Golarion, barring legal issues.

It'd be a fun project, I was making one for Darkfall back when I didn't expect it to be a terrible game some two years ago. I may check out the API and see what's changed, not that I can start something like this right now.
If anybody of authority is reading, would it be legal to use the Inner Sea Poster Map in a free/open web app? It'd be broken up into tiles and watermarked so there wouldn't be access to the full thing directly.

The maps package available there includes a map of the Inner Sea region and a map of Golarion.

bump, bump, bump it up and/or can we do this now?

Oh man I wish I had time to work on something like this. If anybody with a bit of coding time on their hands is interested in collab I can set up all the mapwork and graphics!

It'd be cool to do all of Golarion too not just the Inner Sea. There was one at www.mapsofgolarion.com but it doesn't seem to be working.
