Is there no proper map folio besides those 3 posters for this AP?
And if not, then why not?
If you're talking about the old-style map folios that just reprinted most of the maps from the AP, we stopped doing those after Council of Thieves, due largely to customer feedback. Starting with Kingmaker, we shifted to folios featuring new poster maps, and they've garnered a better reception.

I just picked it up. What is included is great. I was hopping for a detailed map of Varisia though and a more detailed map of Minkai rather than the whole of Tian would have served the AP better I think.
Based on this one I'm not sure its a supplement I would buy in future.
Again though what is included is great quality and beautiful maps if you want to expand you general collection of maps of Gollarion.

I agree completely with Andrew Jackson's opinion of the product. A nicely presented product, but I would have liked to have seen a more detailed 'outline' of the actual caravan route (maybe including some distance markers between major stopping points, etc).

Ain't that the truth...My group is pretty much saying, "Oh that road? Nah."

Really? I clearly missed that survey. Having to flip through the adventure repeatedly to find maps is pretty annoying. I much prefer having the map right there, easily accessed.

It wasn't a specific survey—just lots of complaints here on the boards.

Paizo were damned if they did and damned if they didnt, really. It was mildly contentious for a while.
I'm like you - I found a lot of utility in the old format, but we were clearly in the minority (at least amongst those willing to provide feedback on the boards).

I didn't want an exact route mapped out, but detailed maps of the three areas the players travel through (Varisia, Crown of the World and Minkai) Similar detail to the map found in the AP3 of Varisia for each region. We got that for the crown of the world but the other two maps aren't as useful for the Jade Regent AP.

The detail of the older map packs was not useful outside the AP. They were not bundling them with the AP subscription though, even though the information was incredibly AP-specific. They were bundling them with the campaign setting subscription. So it was an "extra" subscription purchase pushed out to people who may not have wanted/needed it. They STILL haven't properly bundled it with the AP sub., but at least the maps are more generically useful now.

That would appear to be the actual issue, I think.
I suspect the actual content of the map folios was less the issue.

I'm just about to start running the Jade Regent and having maps of the areas would be very useful. I can't find the 3 posters that you mention; are they separate to the AP? I've received all six parts of my subscription and there weren't any poster maps included.

They're in the separately available Jade Regent Poster Map Folio.

You know a PDF only version of the old style folio would be great. I get the physical books, and finding a copier is a pain the ass. I would love to have legal copies of the maps and handouts without needing to buy the books in paper and PDF.
