1. Staff of Elusive Images
Ghostly Disguise (1 charge), Mirror Image (1 charge), Shocking Image (2 charges), Lesser Simulacrum (2 charges), Project Image (3 charges), Simulacrum (3 charges), Clone (3 charges)

2. Staff of the Absent Priest
Summon Monster 1 (10 charges), Lesser Restoration (1 charge), Restoration (2 charges), Remove Disease (2 charges), Neutralize Poison (2 charges)

Summon Monster is on there so that anyone who can cast fourth level spells can recharge it. I think everyone gets either it or Remove Disease. I'm not aware of a more thematically appropriate spell with this property that is also on the Cleric/Oracle list so the staff can actually be crafted by a cleric.

3. Staff of the Ki Master
This winnowed rattan staff is topped at each end with a silk wrap which once adorned the arms of a qinggong mystic. It allows the use of the following spells:

  • barkskin (1 charge)
  • blood crow strike (2 charges)
  • dragon's breath (2 charges)
  • hydraulic torrent (2 charges)
  • scorching ray (2 charges)
  • ki shout (3 charges)

A quinggong monk with access to any ki power of the same name counts as the ability to cast a spell for the purposes of using a Staff of the Ki Master. Additionally, a monk may restore one charge to a Staff of the Ki Master by spending 3 ki points once per day provided he has one of the ki powers of the staff.

  • 4. Crook of Quiet Meadows

This staff of simple hickory rises to a curved top that gives it the Tripping weapon feature. The bottom is well worn and fills the holder with a sense of calm.

    -Calm Emotions (1 charge)
    -Dominate Animal (1 charge)
    -Animal Growth (2 charges)
    -Summon Nature's Ally V (2 charges)

Staff of Quick Escape: expeditious retreat (1 charge), grease (1 charge), quickened grease (2 charges), dimension door (2 charges), quickened dimenstion door (3 chargers).

    Staff of Rot

This bamboo staff has patches of rot, but the wood remains as strong and supple as ever. Atop the staff is a withered, grasping hand. The Staff of Rot can be used to cast Putrefy Food and Water at will.

    -Contagion (1 charge)
    -Poison (2 charges)
-Bestow Curse, only -6 Con (2 charges)
    -Symbol of Weakness (3 charges)

    Staff of the Ice Queen

This staff is made of magically strengthened ice, as strong and supple as oak, wrapped in strips of wolf-leather, crowned with a hand-sized 'snowflake' of ice. As long as it retains at least 1 charge, the ice does not melt.

    cold-substituted burning hands (1 charge)
    cold-substituted shatter (1 charge)
    cold-substituted scorching ray (2 charges)
    cold-substituted lightning bolt (2 charges)
cold-substituted widened burning hands (2 charges)

First seen among the Winter Witches of Irrisen, the staff can also be crafted by Admixture Wizards and Elemental (water) Sorcerers.

    Scarab Sages

A wizards staff has a knob on the end :P

    Seriously though: Staff of Dispelling

A caster with this unadorned ironwood staff may attempt to counter any spell as a swift action by expending a spell of equal or higher level.

    Staff of Infernal Cunning

This weighty iron staff is set with a holy symbol of Asmodeus at the head and functions as a +1 flaming quarterstaff when used in combat.

    -Charm Monster (1 charge)
-Summon Monster V, bearded devil only (2 charges)
    -Scorching Ray (1 charge)
    -Suggestion (1 charge)
-Planar Binding, devils only (3 charges)

  • Given that the staff is meant for a melee type character, I think it's a bit incomplete without some weapon qualities built into it. Staff monks after all are one of the iconic monk tropes.

    Staff of the Beatdown

    This staff is made of gnarled oak, wrapped in sweat-stained ox leather, and capped with thick bands of silver. It comes in two version, divine and arcane, and is a +1/+1 silver quarterstaff;

shillelagh (on itself only) - 1 charge
    barksin - 1 charge

    Arcane;
lead blades (on itself only) - 1 charge
    mage armor - 1 charge

    Staff of the Ruined Picnic

The first Staff of the Ruined Picnic was crafted by Var'Dor the Obnoxiously Vindicitive, a theurge obsessed with humiliating his enemies in the narrowest possible fashion. It has since been replicated by his many annoying but curiously well-prepared followers.

Bite the Hand - 1 Charge
    Calm Emotions - 1 Charge
    Corruption Resistance - 1 Charge
    Damp Powder - 1 Charge
    Devolution - 1 Charge
    Hold Animal - 1 Charge
    Lipstitch - 1 Charge
    Pilfering Hand - 2 Charges
    True Form - 2 Charges
    Twisted Innards - 1 Charge
    Wind Wall - 2 Charges

    Staff of Halfling Retribution

This Halfling-sized staff is plain and worn smooth, with inscribed names of esteemed halflings followed ticmarks.

    At will, convert to sling staff +1(minus bullets);
Enlarge self(as per spell) one incremental size/round (1 charge per size increment)
Reduce (as per spell) opponent (one incremental size/round 1 charge per size increment)
As needed or at will, regardless of prerequisites, possesses the feats: Improved Bullrush, Improved Overrun, Improved Sunder, Stand Still(1 charge)

Successful single combat with a larger opponent will cause the halfling’s name to be inscribed with one ticmark afterwards. Non-halfling’s are not prevented from using the staff, although they will remain unrecognized.

    STAFF OF SWARMS

    summon swarm: 1 charge
    vomit swarm: 1 charge
    mad monkeys: 2 charges
    rain of frogs: 2 charges
    cape of wasps: 2 charges
    swarm skin: 3 charges
    insect swarm: 3 charges
    [I]creeping doom[/]: 4 charges

    Staff of Seclusion

Thought to be created by followers of Norgrober(though unable to verify)this staff emits almost smoke like fumes as if theres embers under the surface. When in hand it grants a +4 to stealth checks. When standing in dim light or less and holding staff you are treated as if effected by ring of mild shielding....each time this ability prevents a probing it drains 2 charges.
    Darkvision:2 charges
    Darkness: 2 charges
    Silence 2 charges
    Sanctuary 1 charge
Rumor has it that the only way to recharge this dark staff is to use the it as part of a funeral pyre for a criminal(or hero) who commited treason and sift it from the ashes.

The only staff I have ever purchased or made with any of my characters in gut 17+ year gaming "career."

    Binding Staff
    a. Wielder is protected as if under the protection from evil and protection from good spells
    b. Greater Planar Binding (5chgs)
    c. Dimensional Anchor (2chgs)
    d. Magic circle vs. good (2chgs)
    e. Magic circle vs. evil (2chgs)
    f. Eagles Splendor (1 chg)

Basically if you spend all 10 charges you can summon and bind an outsider per Planar binding. Greater planar binding in this case, but using a lesser version of the spell would be simple enough.

Add a summoning circle on a stone tablet that's been shrunk via shrink item and you've got the ability to summon almost anything with a good chance of success on the spur of the moment.

    Just thought of this one.

SUmmon monster 1 (10 charges) - stealing the idea from an earlier poster so almost anyone can charge the staff.

    Shilleah 1 charge

    Shilleah 1 charge

That has the problem that they aren't on the same list. For the Cleric replacer everything was on the Cleric list, but SM1 is not on the druid list where Shilleah is found. Perhaps CLW to let any divine caster recharge would be better. Easier to craft anyways.

    Staff of Wild Growth

    *plant growth (1 charge)
    *spike growth (2 charges)
    *wall of thorns (2 charges)
*changestaff (3 charges, the staff appears on the ground in that position, if the treant is destroyed)

    Staff of Force
This staff is made of burnished steel, and it's diamond-shaped metal headpiece is set with eight tiny diamonds in the center of each of it's eight faces.
    *mage armor (1 charge)
    *magic missile {1 charge}
    *quickened shield (2 charges)
    *wall of force (2 charges)

    Sodden Staff
This darkwood staff is heavy, reeking of mold and perpetually damp to the touch.
    *aqueous orb (1 charge)
    *hydraulic push (1 charge)
    *obscuring mist (1 charge)
    *geyser (2 charges)
    *hydraulic torrent (2 charges}

Here are several of the staffs I've created in our games. I hope you like them!

    STAFF OF DEBILITATION

The darkwood staff is topped by a bulbous head with a twisted face carved into it. The head animates and squirms in silent agony when the staff is squeezed tightly. This magical staff possesses the following spells:

    • Empowered Maximized touch of idiocy (1 charge)

Requirements Craft Staff, Empower Spell, Maximize Spell, ray of enfeeblement, touch of idiocy; Cost 59,800gp

    STAFF OF LAMENT
    Aura Moderate Evocation; CL 9th

A powerful weapon carved from orc bone, this staff was created by the powerful archmage, Corral, to aid her in the destruction of her husband’s murderers. This magical staff possesses the following spells:

    Cone of cold (1 charge)
    • Extended acid arrow (1 charge)
    • Intensified fireball (1 charge)
    • Intensified lightning bolt (1 charge)
    • Reach magic missile (long range) (1 charge)

    STAFF OF SHADOWS
    Aura Strong Evocation; CL 13th

Made from the essence of the plane of shadow, this unnaturally smooth staff seems to devour all light. It functions as a masterwork quarterstaff and contains the following spells:

    Darkness (1 charge)
    Lunar veil (2 charges)

Requirements Craft Staff, darkness, lunar veil; Cost 26,300gp

    STAFF OF VENGEANCE
Aura moderate conjuration and evocation; CL 8th
    Slot –; Price 43,200gp; Weight 5 lbs.

This staff appears to be made of a long slender shard of obsidian and allows use of the following spells:

    black tentacles (1 charge)
    obsidian flow (1 charge)
    sleet storm (1 charge)

Many staffs of vengeance also double as magical spears. Add the cost of the magical spear and the staff of vengeance together and use the spear’s weight value when using this variant.

Requirements Craft Staff, black tentacles, obsidian flow, sleet storm (plus appropriate weapon requirements if made into a magical spear); Cost 21,600gp

    Oakheart Staff

    Entangle-1
    Tree Shape-1
    Wilderness Soldiers-1
    Speak with Plants-2
    Plant Growth-2
    Arboreal Hammer-3

This oaken staff was never carved by knife, but smoothed by wind and rain.
It functions as a club under continuous Shillelagh spell.

    Staff of Fell Magics

The original Staff of Fell Magics was crafted by an obscure necromancer, 'Laan the Unseen Hand, a worshipper of Norgorber and patron of a guild of assassins (rumor indicates that he himself, was a capable assassin in addition to his prowess as a wizard). After his death, knowledge of the staff's design was carried to the world by surviving members of the guild.

The staff is fashioned of alchemically-treated Darkwood that gives the appearance of bone. Its top is fitted with an obsidian sphere, while the butt is wrapped in tarnished, bronze wire.

The obsidian head functions as a +1 ghost touch and disruption weapon, while the bronze is enchanted as a +1 viscious, wounding weapon. Its bearer adds a +2 profane bonus to the DC of Command Undead attempts. Any foe brought to negative hit points by the staff fails stabilization checks, requiring magical healing to stabilize.

The spells contained by the staff are:

*extended Touch of Fatigue (1 charge)
    *Detect Undead (1 charge)
    *False Life (1 charge)
    *Halt Undead (1 charge)
    *Enervation (2 charges)
    *Fear (2 charges)
*Magic Jar (3 charges; the obsidian sphere is the focus)

Finally, in addition to the usual methods of recharging, the staff may gain one additional charge each day by application of the spell Death Knell; in such a case, the caster of the Death Knell receives none of the usual benefits from drawing off the dying creature's life energies: they are consumed by the staff.

It is said the original staff is a sentient thing, and that creatures whose souls feed it are destroyed utterly, requiring a Wish or Miracle to make resurrection possible.
