Liberty's Edge

Back :)

Aidan Thanks for poking around at these. I will give Obsidian portal a look. I also like what you did with CC. Was it alot of work? I am wondering if you want to render maps that I can give you caveman sketches for.and then provide the link at the top of the page. My weakness with that is that most photo sharing sites are blocked at work, but if it works for everyone else, I will make do!

Are there any artists in residence?

What about would be novelists?

I cannot take lead on all these things, but if someone were interested in rendering some of the important scenes from the game from time to time, I am certain the group would find value in that. Also, if someone wants to keep a high level journal and sends it to me, I will post it in the campaign info tab.

I wonder if a third person might have an interest in cataloging NPCs. As the cast grows (and it will continue to!) it might be handy to have a reference of who is who and what is known about them.

None of this is strictly needed, but I think all of it might make this a little more immersive and I know that I do not have the time right now to do it right.

About combat... The surprise round happens right before combat starts. RAW if you are surprised, you do nothing (not even keep moving forward... It is a little different than reality, but perhaps in that situation when Narnels arrow flies you are able to stop and start to become aware, but are reacting more on instinct?), so at this point, the heroes have taken the surprise round and then your good luck is that your enemies all go after you!

I actually just used a knockoff photo edit software to make the maps I've posted, since campaign cartographer is much better at CREATING maps than COPYING maps. All the fractal tools, etc.

The key to having player portraits on the background is the utilization of layers or sheets in your photo edit.

I suspect the easiest way to handle the NPCs is a Google doc. I like the Campaign Info tab they now provide for PbP, but you can't farm out duties.

So, here's a Google doc to start
NPCs

If you can link to it in Campaign Info, that would be helpful. I'm a bit tight on bandwidth myself right now, but I'll get a few up to get us started.

p.s. Sorry if we have folks that don't like Google. I know there are a few out there, but it is handy for group collaboration.

Liberty's Edge

Nice Seneca!

With this being a fantastical whodunit I think the tool you started will be a good help to keep us from getting lost.

I will link it to the campaign page.

It's not that I don't like google docs. It's that the nice people who run the firewall at work don't. ;)

Yeah, there can be that issue too. We're one of those workplaces that has gone to using Google for everything. Now that Google has enhanced the ability to switch between accounts, its quite handy.

F Human Fighter 2/Bard 2 (HP32/32 AC 27 Ft+4 Rf+4 Wl+3 Pcp +7)

I'm going to be away from home and away from any kind of internet for a week now. (I'm going to the olympics to see some athletics). I've emailed Sigil with some details for my actions. I'm fully anticipating all the enemy being dead by the time I return. Or all of us. One or the other.

Liberty's Edge

Apologies for this week... I lost power at home one night (some how Megatron was involved I certain because they told me a transformer exploded), and then rain storm dumped 3-4 inches in 30 minutes a few days later and flooded my house. At this point I am still working on a salvage operation and trying to dry the floors and walls and etc.

Yuck, sorry to hear about that Sigil. Floods are terrible. Good luck getting things back together. We'll be here when you're ready. I'm at a wedding today and Gen Con next week so if things are slow for Seneca, please feel free to GM NPC me.

F Human Fighter 2/Bard 2 (HP32/32 AC 27 Ft+4 Rf+4 Wl+3 Pcp +7)

I'm back. Olympics was more fun than I expected, I actually found myself interested in the sport! No medals as I was there during the day, but saw the American pair run away with the decatholon - man they're good, and Austin Eaton is hot. Also saw Mo run around the track fast enough to get into the 5000m final, and got really into the women's high jump. Elinior looks just like Ebba Jungmark. Only in plate armour.

Sigil, good luck with the salvage work. I'll be around but on hols from Thursday.

Was 'best friend' for a wedding over the weekend. Happily they didn't want my speech till after the main course so in the spirit of "the drunker you are, the better I'll be" I was on fire. Then they had a pagan handfasting the day after, followed by barbecue and there may be something in it since it was absolutely chucking it down all morning and everything cleared just in time for the handfasting on the dunes overlooking the north sea.

Back from GenCon myself. sorry I missed you Seneca. 40,000 people and I was starting to get a bit on the outs with my personal space. You couldn't go anywhere without fighting the crowd. Great Vendor room, as always and I played some good games. Best was that my son's played some memorable games and we saw the Gamers Live as they shot 8 pages of scenes for their new movie. (see Dorkness Rising for reference).

Yesterday was a 14 hour ordeal in the car to get home and I'm wiped out...

Ha, no kidding. I arrived at Arsenal Wednesday afternoon and either played or ran PFS games all the way through from then until Sunday afternoon. I think the only person from the boards I know for sure I ran into was Rogue Eidolon and that was because we just happened to be in a game with him Saturday night - probably the best role-playing group I had all weekend. Total of 5 sessions played and 6 sessions GMed. Great time, but I was exhausted too. Shorter ride home for us.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks for the well wishes. I hope this never happens again, though such an event always serves to remind me of the changing nature of all things and against holding "stuff" too dearly. The worst was seeing an orinthology book from my grandmother ruined. The book was nearly 100 years old. Most everything else is not needed or easily replaced.

I also petition to be able to party with Elinor! Sounds like you know how to do it right! :D

It sounds like we may all be back, I guess just in time for the end of summer. Hard to believe we have been at this for as long as we have!

I just spent 5 days in the rockies doing ziplines, white water rafting, rock climbing, hiking and hanging out with some pretty awesome relatives for the first time in more than a decade. I'm glad we still have a good amount of interest in this game, since it had been a bit slow as of late.

I am still a good 4 driving days from home, but after that, it will be nice to be a regular poster again.

Have you folks been following Kickstarter project for Reaper? It's exploded! They asked for 30k and it's up to 1.7 million! The extra's they are including are unbelievable. Invest 100 dollars and you will get nearly 200 of the new bone minatures (special plastic they've developed). Add more money and you get availablility to buy larger mini's at unbelievable prices. Check it out! 56 hours left. I'm not associated with kickstarter or Reaper - just a backer of this single project. 200 mini's for 100 dollars of reaper quality was too much to resist...

It is an amazing deal. I pulled the trigger last night. Not sure how many of the big ones I'm in for yet, but the Vampire level which is currently 209 minis for $100 is a no-brainer. Actually it will be 211 minis within a couple hours when we pass the next threshold and get the owlbear and griffon added. You can also trade out that $25 metal Sophie mini that is included in the $100 to apply against some of the larger specials.

Yes they will. You'll be looking at an extra $25 at the Vampire level. And it is now 211 minis. Should have another 4 minis added by the end of today at the rate they're going (to make a total of 215).

You add the amount into your pledge and it looks like they have good instructions in the Kickstarter on how to handle it.

Here's the link btw

3 things: First, typing last night, and calling the one enemy combatant the yeller... I was sorely tempted to refer to him as Old Yeller and making him blond with a toungue hanging out. And I think I am playing with a group who will get the reference. "Get out of here Old Yeller!" :D

Second. I have been handling entangle wrong and specifically the entangled condition. I hope to be sorting that out, but if you have a character in the area, review the rules. One big thing is that we should be using strength checks once the reflex check fails.

Third. I curse you Bryndyn! That is such a good deal. And I just signed up for the Pathfinder comic subscription this morning. And Rappan Athuk is on its way... Yikes! I need another job to support my hobby. 2 days to decide... Wow it looks amazing.

That was why it took me so long to pledge :) We wound up deciding to not do anything big for Christmas. Fortunately I have some freelancing $ coming in over the next few months from a couple Open Design projects and some work for Raging Swan. And, I picked up some Paizo store credit GMing for them at GenCon. I guess funding my hobby with my hobby is my new evil plan :) Still, its an expensive stretch - Ultimate Equipment, GenCon, Runelords minis, Kaidan Kickstarter, this, and there's a Horror on the Orient Express Kickstarter from Chaosium too! Aargh!

I was just looking at top Kickstarters of all time and this one is now #5 on the all-time list. That's pretty amazing. Storm Giants got added last night and Halflings this morning. Looks like the Golems will probably get added by sometime this afternoon or early evening if they keep it up. I know a lot of people drop in or increase their pledges at the last minute on these so you're probably looking at another 3-5 sets that will be added before the finish. Not that it isn't already an impossibly good deal.

Much as I like the idea of giant quantities of white metal, even if I give half of the stuff away I'll never manage to paint even the vampire level.

So I guess I'll just have a giant quantity of unpainted white metal lying around my study.

I'm not really a good enough painter for big miniatures; I can churn out 40K Eldar by the squad when I'm in the mood, but even the Reaper gnolls look a bit flat, let alone anything the size of a giant. Still, the process is very good for me mentally (does no good at all to my eyesight and back mind).

Elinor - it's not metal at all - it's a new process using a plastic.

F Human Fighter 2/Bard 2 (HP32/32 AC 27 Ft+4 Rf+4 Wl+3 Pcp +7)

Ohhhhhh. Like the overpriced Citadel "finecast"?

Sovereign Court

Male Human Gamemaster

Reaper boneyard sculpts are made of a new plastic that's lighter than pewter, but less fragile, responds to paint in a similar fassion, and is much, much less expensive to manufacture.

The catch is that the molds are expensive, hence the kickstarter. Once made, however, the molds are obviously reusable.

Stats:
AC 19/12/17 CMD 16 HP 24/30 F+7 R+3 W+10 Init +1 Per +5

Probably similar. They started this new line this year and are using the Kickstarter to produce a large number of molds quickly.

One interesting thing as far as painting goes is that because there are going to be 10,000+ people all painting the same new minis as the same time, it is expected that there will be a lot of tutorials and tricks available from the community.

F Human Fighter 2/Bard 2 (HP32/32 AC 27 Ft+4 Rf+4 Wl+3 Pcp +7)

With the finecast, although I've bought some because they're withdrawing the white metal, I resent, to the point of almost giving up the game only a year after starting, paying the same amount for plastic as for metal. Thirteen quid for a single, plastic model. It's starlight robbery.
