Immovable Rod + Teleport

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

So this came up in my game this past weekend when one of the players attempted to teleport while holding on to an immovable rod while it was activated. Now since an immovable rod can technically be moved with a dc 30 strength check would it slow down the teleport stringing out the teleportee? or would it drag reality behind it causing a sling shot effect if you let go of it? I wasn't sure how to rule on this but im leaning towards the dragging reality with option.

Thoughts?

Since it is not actually being moved via a physical force acting upon it, I would rule that it is transported to the new location still activated, and must be deactivated at the new location in order to be physically moved without the Strength check.

Liberty's Edge

By RAW I believe there would have to make a strength check, if they succeeded, it would teleport with them. If not, well then the person holding it probably isn't going any where.

For RAI, I suspect TOZ is correct. It is how I would rule.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would treat the Immovable Rod as an unattended object that has a weight of 8,000 pounds. If you can teleport that then you can teleport the rod.

So anyone who could teleport or dimension door could move a rod?

Yes.
