Replace Nualia with Jareth, or with David Bowie himself? Cause, even as talented as the 65 year old singer may be, I can't imagine that he'd be much of a challenge for even a low level group of PCs. Granted, it'd certainly be a memorable encounter. He might succeed in dazzling the PCs with sheer hutzpah and theatricality for awhile. On second thought, that just might be awesome.

Sarah: Generous? What have you done that's generous?
Goblin King: Everything! Everything that you wanted I have done...
You asked that the child be taken - I took him.
You cowered before me, and I was frightening.
I have reordered time. I have turned the world upside-down, and I have done it all for you!
I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me. Isn't that generous?

Shows what you know! After all, Bowie is the Sovereign.

There was one summer in high school in which I watched this movie over a hundred times between the last day of school and the start of the next year. I can recite the whole thing verbatim without the movie even being on to prompt me. It was even several years before I really even had a concept of who David Bowie was (and once I did, I followed him around the country on tour).
So yes. I've seen it, and it remains one of my all-time favorite movies, even if it's got a lot of flaws that I can recognize when judging it objectively.

I class Labyrinth with Time Bandits and certain other movies that, while technology has kinda left them looking frumpy, brought a lot more imagination to their work than the shiny-to-look-at CGI marvels that have come out in recent years. I'm not a big fan of everything in it (the terrible blue-screen for those head-swapping party animals springs to mind), but it definitely has a lot of charming moments. And I doubt there's a single GM who hasn't been tempted to steal the Escher maze in Jareth's palace for his/her own campaign...

Dal Selpher, I streamed this movie last night on Netflix, too!
I'm sad to report I gave it two stars, I "Didn't Like It."
Netflix's algorithms are pretty sharp, so as soon as I "Loved It" on The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth was placed in my "Suggestions for You" (and has been for a long time).
Last night, I was streaming Being Elmo on Netflix (it was in my "Top 10" for me on my iPad), and was pretty emotionally-compromised. I'd already teared up more than once (it's an amazing film), but when the Elmo's puppeteer started talking about Labyrinth, I figured I'd take a break from the movie and watch Labyrinth (since I'd never seen it and needed a break from all that snifflin' and trying not to cry).
As soon as I saw Jennifer Connelly, Dark City exploded in my head, specifically when the character Jennifer is playing is introduced in the movie singing.
I think Dark City is just a work of art, and Jennifer in that movies is as hot as they come.
Seeing Jennifer's character run around the first five minutes Labyrinth trying to act needy and petulant but emotionally-sophisticated and mature ("Emo" before "Emo") flared my temper at the film.
I was already pretty worked up, so even when I tried to like Labyrinth I had trouble.
Maybe I'll watch it again in a few years. I was impressed by some of the set design and construction (the Escher stuff was as well done as anything I've seen on film), but overall I thought the movie stunk.
Of course, YMMV.

Jennifer Connelly omg, but this movies 'twin' had Mia Sara !!! (Jennifer still has the edge but it's very close...)
Tangent! - best Jennifer Connelly movie ever? That would be Requiem For a Dream.
/ after watching, please don't forget to call your Mom and tell her that A.) you love her, and B.) she doesn't need to fit into that old dress.

"Has anyone seen it"?? You're kidding, right? ;)
It's the movie that finally got it through my head that Life Isn't Fair. I mean, sure, on some level you know that as a kid, but you hold out this insane HOPE that life is FAIR on some level...and then David Bowie, creepy goblin king, tells you it's NOT.
Oooh.
Wait.
*Goblin* King.
Must write down idea for next off-the-cuff goblin adventure for my Friday night group!!! You guys rock.

Yes yes and a thousand times yes. Labyrinth is awesome.
-Also yes, his codpiece would be terrifying. Though I would be one of the first in line to get the movie.
(just so the yes's don't get confused)
I don't even have a 3D TV. But I do have the movie on VHS and DVD and deluxe box set edition that came with mirror mask and dark crystal. DC also being an amazing movie, I'm still indifferent about MM, as much as I enjoy Neil Gaiman, he didn't translate well to screen IMHO. Though a Sandman movie would also be an insta-grab. Even if it were only available for beta (the anti-vhs not the testing phase).
