Permission to don the Brown Coat, that sounds like an awesome guild!

I read in another thread about an idea for a cabal of necromancers, if someone wants to formalise that idea then you can sign me up.

If you haven't been, check out our forum: here. Glad you're interested!

Goblin Squad Member

I'd think we could do a Dark Brotherhood theme...with assasins and diablerists and necromancers under one umbrella

Goblin Squad Member

I'd be interested in sort of a mercenary alliance. One that's strongholds etc... are primarily defense based (maybe contract brown-coats to assist in our economy). For the right price anyone can hire us to take a side on a war.

Set it up, Onishi! Large scale mercenary work is about the only service we won't be providing(gotta stay neutral so we don't alienate customers), but with a loose alliance we could definitely help each other out.

Name: Pocket ACE

Alignment Axis:
LG|LN|LE: We are a group that lives by contracts, above all else, so lawful is prefered
NG|NN|NE: As long as you can stick to our rules you may join
CG|CN|CE: Very few exceptions, but chaotic might not fit in, in many cases

OOC Structure: A team of mercenaries first, we try to avoid war on our own territories, but for the right price, will take a side in conflicts completely unrelated to us. When our own land is in jeopardy we prefer diplomacy first and try to minimize wars on our own land

RP Level: Medium: We encourage our members to remain in character as often as possible. Accents etc.. are unnecessary, but meeting a feeling of your character is preferred.

IC Structure: Partial democracy, contracts are brought to a vote before accepting.

Purpose: Exploration, Diplomacy, War

Information: IC Summary.

Formerly a group of ragtag adventurers, Pocket Ace was founded under the principle that a few good soldiers can turn the tide of a battle. From joining in battles they had no stake at loss, the Pocket Ace's honed their skills and tactics, growing in numbers and soon becoming a force to be reckoned with on their own.

Uninterested with the normal day to day side of business cities under Pocket Ace’s rule, are largely supported by the aid of the browncoats, who assist in the day to day business, pricing etc... Often bartering services and goods for either their takings or occasionally trading free escorts (another service that Pocket Ace provides to others who are willing to pay).

Of course the most important rule for such a group, is the sanctity of a contract. Pocket Ace will never participate without a contract and will have members vote on whether or not to accept a contract. As well any contract that conflicts with an existing one, is immediately rejected (It is against their policy to betray a contract even if offered a greater sum of money after signing.)

If you have a problem...if no one else can help...and if you can find them...maybe you can hire... Pocket ace

Name: Dark Brotherhood

Alignment Axis:
LG|LN|LE: With morality being...debatable, we'd like a person who will honor allgience to the brotherhood.
NG|NN|NE: As long as you can stick to our rules you may join
CG|CN|CE: Sometimes being willing to do the worst is a plus, but there will be retribution at betrayal.

OOC Structure: A cabal of like minded, a-moral folks who excel in the darker things most are unwilling to study: the professional taking of life, necromancer, diablerie, or pursuing evil for evil's sake. Everyone is free to pursue their talents, under the protection of the cabal, as long as everyone contributes to its existence and defense.

RP Level: Medium: We encourage our members to remain in character as often as possible. Accents etc.. are unnecessary, but meeting a feeling of your character is preferred. not to plagurize, but well said

IC Structure: Tiered structure of leadership, those with the most power rule. A council of the top 5 make all cabal influencing decisions. Those members handle the jobs or contracts, if any, those below them handle, ie the master of assassins accepting contracts and assigning a character to them.

Purpose: Exploration of power and wealth, unhindered by society or morality.

Information: IC Summary.

Two men, a necromancer and an assassin met each other on the job, the assassin being hired to off an allegend necromancer. They spoke instead, realizing the mainstram of thought would never allow their professions or accept them, so they decided to team up and protect each other. If they were to be forced to operate in the shadows, then they would make the shadows their own. After a while, others were admitted, and a guild was formed. There has been some in-fighting since, of course, but the guild remains strong.

Name: Ye Olde Goone Squade
Alignment Axis: CE
OOC Structure:Dictatorship
RP Level: Nonexistant
IC Structure:Dictatorship
Purpose: Break the game.

It is at this point that you would be well reminded that sarcasm, is in fact, a thing.

Any new guild ideas? Or guilds actually started?

Oh, and I hate being in open leadership roles, though I delight in whispering devious ideas from the shadows behind the throne.

I'm aiming to create a stealth oriented halfling necromancer. And I love debating morality ;)

Goblin Squad Member

I'm casually in favor of starting a branch of the Church of Desna.

Name: Starwalkers
Alignment Axis: NG, CG, CN

OOC Structure: Generally non-hierarchical, higher-ups act as organizers more than commanders.

RP Level: RP focused when conversing outside the organization. Internally lax.

IC Structure: Anarcho-theocracy?

Purpose: To spread the word of Desna, to help the suffering, and to aid in exploration in travel.

Information: A prophetic dream revealed that a time of great turmoil and movement was coming to the Crusader Road in the River Kingdoms. Led by this vision, a follower of Desna traveled to the region to begin gathering other worshipers to help the numerous transitions be as beneficent as possible. The local populace, noticing the increased number of star-knife wielding travelers who were associating with each other, began referring to them as Starwalkers. The name stuck.

Count me in for that Mercenary group. Sounds like an awesome idea, though large scale conflicts should be on the radar - profit should come from any avenue regardless of which side one chooses to take at any given time.

I think Ill go for Pocket ACE(why are all the letters of ACE capitalized? What do they mean?) I was going to start a merc guild anyway but Onishi has more time for forums so I will let him start the guild. :) LN btw

Heh, the capitalization is probably due to typing up the description while half asleep lol, and yeah you are both welcome to join assuming everything actually turns out to be viable when the details of the game are out. So a pre-emptive welcome DLH and Deadestdai :P. Assuming I can somehow squeek in the friends I have off the forums who would join and participated in the drafting of the idea.

I'm down with the Starwalkers.

Spoiler:
Had a dreams/visions/hallucinations goddess in an old homebrew campaign that sponsored the party for the later part of it (oddly enough, travel was tacked on because the player who was the cleric really wanted that domain, and I was just introducing the goddess to the campaign, so figured why not). Saw Desna in the first few PF products, and said, "Hey, these gods do exist on multiple worlds under different names. Just like they say."

Goblin Squad Member

Guess we should change the name to Charters...

Goblin Squad Member

I expect there will be new threads as pre-existing Chartered Companies announce their intentions. Nobody wants to make a big announcement at the end of someone else's thread.

Goblin Squad Member

Agreed, is it acceptable to the powers that be if each prospective/existing charter start a new thread to recruit, discuss, and gauge interest? Maybe a new subforum is in order? Please advise.

LN|TN|CN: (As above with LN, and CN would be expected to follow the tenents of the guild, if you're in, you need to be in)
LE|NE|CE: Sorry, don't trust you.

IC Structure: Corporate Republic(is that a thing?).

Purpose: Exploration, opportunity, and freedom.

Information: IC Summary.

First off, this isn't a guild like the others mentioned. We have no desire to have our own city, perhaps a stronghold, but would rather exist in the cities of other guilds. Our main goal is to facilitate the economy of every city we inhabit to the benefit of all(us a little more, but the basic theme is that we're benevolent... not trying to unbalance and exploit). Our secondary goals include all the tenets of Desna, so we uphold exploration, free will, and the assistance of distressed travelers. Our intention would be to be invited by guilds to bring our economic stimulus and stability to their areas by offering superior raw materials as well as crafted goods acquired through the skills of our members.

We will have places for virtually any skill set, as we will need crafters and gatherers of all types, people to explore and find new resources and contacts, people to transport and sell goods, and people to protect these shipments as well as the roads and people on them. The idea would be to hand out recurring quests(assuming that is possible) to...

Definitely interested in being a Browncoat

I want to make the Confederation of the Warrior Clans. Totally a LN semi-democratic(each clan[charter] leader has one vote for who becomes the leader of the CWC) nation of great warriors.

Guild - Council of Shadows
Alignment - NE, LE, CN. No CE. CE = Chaotic Stupid and it's bad for business.

OOC - Taking out political opposition is our specialty. By blade, by poison, by spell - its never the tool that matters, only the results. We're professional dissidents that expect to be paid to undermine the status-quo... and have fun doing it.

RP level - Softcore but present. We exemplify our characters as extensions of some of our more sardonic nature.

Internally - We have an inner-council. The Five plot our goals. We integrate our organizational leaders who help implement the strategies to see our goals met. Rinse/repeat. Very much a meritocracy. We take care of our own. Loyalty is paramount.

History - We've been together online since 1995 (some of us have been gaming tabletop together since '79). Core membership is about a dozen fairly hardcore players. We've run up our membership well into the 50's in Azeroth, including managing several major alliances in Norrath that pushed over 120 players consistently. We've played most of the big MMO's - some of us are in the 'industry'. We maintain excellent relationships with current and all former members. We're looking for what's missing in the MMO world right now: community. As active Pathfinder fans - Ryan's blog is like music to our ears. We wants the precious.

Is the intention to put all the guild ideas into this one thread? If so here is a counterbalance to all that snooty Lawful happening up there. ;)

Name: Sons of Cayden (SoC)
Alignment Axis: Upper right corner. Lots of CG and CN. A little bit of N and maybe NG.
OOC Structure: A group of guild officers make day to day decisions and are ultimately responsible for the well being of the guild and its members. Periodically there is a turnover of the people in charge. This concession is only because Athenian Democracy is probably a bit too messy but we can try it first.
RP Level: We can take a vote on that once there are people to vote
IC Structure:Republic. A Council (the above mentioned officers) votes with the ability and expectation for members to weigh in on matters which interest them.
Purpose: To make a place in the world.

Sounds like a good time to me, most definately interested. I'm not against roleplaying from time to time, but I would prefer it if a certain amount wasn't required whether 0% or 100% or anywhere in between.

I plan on making an adventuring guild with the assistance of my friends, I figure while out and about in the wide world we will recruit people with no homes but those of similar goals and enjoyment of slaughtering monsters wholesale and stripping their lairs bare

Thanks! ya'll heard the man...but please be conservative with the shameless bumps.

Name: Coming soon!

Alignment Axis: Right: Our clan's morality and principles of conduct are best described as chaotic neutral, but characters of all non lawful alignments will be allowed in.

OOC Structure: The structure of this guild/settlement will be loosely organized. At the top is one leader, and directly beneath him will be a small group of high ranking officials who answer to him directly.

RP Level: RP will be enforced at some level

IC Structure: At the top is the king. Beneath him are a small number of secondary rulers called Archons. Archons rule a number of lower guildsmen, based either on class, race or geographical similarities.

Purpose: Our purpose is to eek out an existence free of oppression from lawful societies, to gain wealth for our members and to a lesser extent we want to purge Golarion of halflings, who we view as cowardly and deceitful.

Special: This guild has hard limits on certain classes, and won't allow players of those classes to join. Prohibited classes are Druids, Monks, Paladins and Wizards. These types of characters are prohibited for their alignment requirements or because we feel that their presence in a barbaric and chaotic setting would be unreasonable.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Name The Vanguard
Alignment LG, NG, CG, N
Structure An oligarchy, on the whole. Odd number of members on a ruling council (5-9) for voting. Council members are selected by a combination of merit and nomination. Every so often (Once a year or so), the Vanguard as a whole partakes in an open-nomination vote to decide the members of 'The Council'.
RP Level Low-Moderate. Council meetings will likely be mainly OOC, to keep things quick and understandable. Other than that, RP can be as much or as little as the players wish.
Purpose Think 'Robin Hood'. The Vanguard is a fairly loosely organized group of people bound by nothing but the desire to help those who cannot help themselves, and the brotherhood formed in doing so.
Information The Vanguard is a collection of individuals from any manner of background, though most people with the 'Vanguard' mindset would hail from a religious background (ie Sarenrae, Erastil). Classes of any kind would be more than welcome, as membership will be less of sign-ups, and more of a 'Hey, thanks for showing interest, buddy! Welcome to the Vanguard!'. The only hard requirement to joining is dedication to protecting the weak and to the well-being of the commonfolk. Skills of all sorts will be required on a whole: Fighters, politicians, merchants, craftsmen.

Goblin Squad Member

Vanguard sounds like a guild I would like to join.

I'm likely going to play a rogue, who is as skilled at wielding coin as he is at wielding a blade. A glib tongue ensures the smooth acquisition of funds for him, and a charitable heart means that he puts his money in the pockets of the hard-working as often as he puts it toward making more money.

This "Dark One" wants in.

Blaeringr(from Viking Answer Lady's Page):

Quote:
Originally a by-name from the Old Icelandic adjective blár, "blue, dark" which is often found referring to the color of corpses or bruises, cf. hel-blár, "black as death." Found as a personal name in Iceland, including one of the Landnámsmenn, and possibly appearing in one Norwegian place-name. Anglo-Scandinavian forms include Bleyn.

I doubt that I'll make it into the first 4500 on the server, but I'd quite like to join the Vanguard if it's still accepting members by the time I do make it to the River Kingdoms.

I will throw my lot in with The Vanguard as well.

The Vanguard sounds like something my character would joins! So you can note my name on your applicant list!

I can't wait to start playing! This will be very fun to help build all this stuff, be it only a small chartered party, of a great kingdom (or both)! I already have some ideas for my character, and he'll probably be a ranger-type one, trying to help everyone with everything. I don't he'll be very strong at anything specific, but he'll be useful in a pitch. :P

Along time ago around the time of the Kick-starter I found a website with a list of guilds and recruitment. I was wondering if anyone knew of such a site? Also I have a Shield Mate Addon and am Looking for someone to trade with once the shield mate can be chosen.

Nihimon has been very industrious/meticulous: Nihimon's Chartered Companies - Guild Recruitment

Also Shield Mate Thread if that helps: Shield Mate Mark Of Awesome Partners

@SlipZone, you're probably remembering Gregg Reece's list of Chartered Companies. Gregg got busy and wasn't able to devote as much time to these forums, so I've basically taken that over for him. It evolved into the list that AvenaOats linked above - which, by the way, includes the Shield Mate thread in the Popular Player Threads section :)

Name: PathForgers
Alignment Axis: N
OOC Structure: Meritocracy
RP Level: Intermediate [RP will have a large part of the guild but will not be a focal point.]
IC Structure: Stratocracy

Purpose: Exploration of the wilderness and untamed lands, to boldly go where others dare not enter. We clear the way for settlements and locate resources for harvesters. Tracking and eliminating hostile targets (both NPCs and PCs) from areas where forces like settlement defenses cannot travel to, lest leave what they're defending vulnerable to attack.

Information: IC Summary.
Know: (Dungeoneering) - DC 10: A guild of explorers dedicated to revealing information about what lies beyond city walls.
Know: (Local) - DC 15: They are sometimes called upon to eliminate dangerous targets out of reach of more formal settlement armies.
Know: (Local) - DC 20: Reports have been found of the guild searching for something while out on missions.

Great. Just start a new recruitment thread and I'll make sure it gets listed.

You might want to look at the Chartered Companies - Guild Recruitment list to see how some of the other guilds have announced themselves. In fact, if you just want to copy the post you made in this thread and use it to start a new thread, that would work too.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me... or just post in any thread on the Pathfinder Online forums and I'll see it :)

It's certainly an interesting read and not a bad place to announce yourself while you're still workshopping the idea a bit.

If I were in your shoes I would take some time to get a really detailed plan together, then post your own topic. If you want some pointers feel free to hop on the PFO Fan or Empyrean Order Teamspeak (TS details are at the bottom of the first post.) Or just take a look at the other guilds who've announced themselves as Nihimon suggested.
