Synthesist / Monk build ; alternate monk archtypes?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I saw someone show up at a pathfinder society game with a summoner with the following starting build.

half elf 7,7,7,16,18+2,14 : biped, ability increase str, reach longspear

when joined he has 18,12,13,16,20,14 with a 15' reach (before he enlarged).

His plan is to take one level of monk, the rest in summoner (which makes sense to me as evolutions are just fun to stack, and you get evasion from the eildon).

How does flurry of blows work with natural attacks? I understand that natural attacks are all secondary when attacking with a weapon; do the same rules apply when preforming a flurry of blows?

He was considering the monk master of many styles archtype, but I'm not seeing the benefit as most of the style feats seem weak (am I looking at them wrong?).

What feats make the most sense for this type of build? Can the summoner qualify for feats using their fused stats and then have them go dormant when the eildon isn't summoned? power attack on a caster with a base str of 7 seems like fun...

Dark Archive

you cant fob and use natural attacks. FoB is a full round action, that explicity states you cant add natural attacks.

so MoMS is a good option, since they give up FoB. The stances can be used when fused, so it works good.

Silver Crusade

Anyone dumping 3 stats to 7 should receive 7 slaps on each cheeks, and 7 kicks in the ass, while aiming to make him fall on the sharpest places of the room before the last one kicks him out of where you're going to play.

ESPECIALLY from someone playing a synthesist.
Say to the DM to be extra cautious with this guy.

Liberty's Edge

Yup, that's legit.

Gamers gunna game.

That said, there's a guy with this exact character in my area. I avoid judging for him and more or less refuse to play at a table with him.

Scarab Sages

From the sounds of your post, its you that is asking for your build in a ' my "quoty fingers" Friend has a weird rash on his ... anyway. yes legal but at higher levels when ability damage and drain get more common, a melee combatant with 7 con is gonna need lots of rez's when his eidolon gets smoked. As for powerattack, unless there is a forum post or errata that says different, I say no. In a not sythesist summoner, the eidolon has mental stats and can get feats it can apply for like powerattack. But when you wear your eidolon, its mental stats are supressed. With a 7 Strength your not learning powerattack and it can't tell you how to powerattack. You can play Modern Warfare and be a trickshot god, but if you get a real gun in a real warzone, with a clone of yourself on a headset telling you to no scope the guy in the head 80 yards away thru 2 windows moving at full run while you freefall of a ledge. Your gonna stand there like an idiot contemplating HOW your gonna do that. You cannot get talked thru a learn motor response like physical feats in a stress situation

Not PFS legal but I did make something for the cheese grinder using Master of Many Styles.

There's something endearing about being kamen rider. Keep in mind I built him for durability rather than teamwork and the ability to rip people apart.

Maneuver Master Monk also gives up FoB - so that's a way to go too.

In numerous threads is has been stated that you can take a feat you qualify for in a given form - as long as you can qualify for it for 24 hours or more. The synthesist can easily do this - so Power Attack should be a legal feat to take (but you can only use it while fused).
