Magus: Spell Combat, Scrolls and Prestidigitation

Rules Questions

Now, I realize we cannot use scrolls in conjunction with spell combat, since one must have a free hand. Since a scroll requires somatic components (specifically, holding the scroll in your hand). Specifics regarding this issue can be found here: Spellstrike and Scroll

However, would I be able to use the cantrip: prestidigitation to help hold my scroll so my non-weapon wielding weapon hand is free?

In short, would the use of prestigitation allow me to use a scroll with spell combat feature, since I now have a free hand to use spell combat?

Prestidigitation
Casting time: 1 standard action
Duration: 1 Hour
Description: Prestidigitations are minor tricks that novice spellcasters use for practice. Once cast, a prestidigitation spell enables you to perform simple magical effects for 1 hour. The effects are minor and have severe limitations. A prestidigitation can slowly lift 1 pound of material. It can color, clean, or soil items in a 1-foot cube each round. It can chill, warm, or flavor 1 pound of nonliving material.

Holding a scroll and unrolling(most are assumed to be rolled up in scroll cases, but a GM may allow for you to not store it that way)* it are not the same thing. Nor does it allow the item to be moved(across the room) meaning that if you move away from the scroll, if it is open you are out of luck.

It seems you would have to draw the scroll from its compartment and open it which is a move action, cast prestidigitation as a standard action, and then use the spell the next round.

It is highly inefficient to do so, assuming it is even possible. RAI I am sure that is not the intent, but RAW I don't know, assuming the scroll is open so it can be read.

*Scroll cases protect it from water, and other external issues.

Could just ask for an arcana that lets you use a scroll in spellcombat.

Or have a local gnome design a scroll bracer. You know, something that works like a scroll shield but doesn't require your hand.

Alternately, invest in a hand of the mage, or a wand of Unseen Servant.
