List of PC playable monsters

Rules Questions

I am looking for a list of monsters that has a PC stat block. There doesn't seem to be a list anywhere that I can tell.

So far I have found the following monsters with PC stats:

Bestiary
Aasimar
Drow
Goblin
Hobgoblin
Kobold
Svifneblin
Tengu
Tiefling

Bonus Bestiary
None

Bestiary 2
Dhampir
Fetchling
Grippli
Ifrit
Sylph
Undine

Also there are other monster 'races' that don't have stat blocks but can still be player characters. For example a Lycanthrope.

For the monsters with stat blocks I would just count them as EL 0 (no level adjustment) but what about other monsters, for example would a Lycanthrope (any type) be an EL 1?

Official list of PC races: See Core Rulebook, chapter 2.

List of PC races your GM will allow: I dunno, ask your GM.

There is no list of races that a GM can give levels to, because if you're a GM creating a monster, you can choose to give levels to any creature, though some combinations make no sense (I don't see any animal with wizard levels making any sense, for example).

Just because the monsters were designed to be easily made into NPCs, did not mean they were balanced to be made into PCs. If you are running a game and want to expand the selectable races, that is your prerogative, but those races are not presented as options for a Pathfinder player characters. Some of the ones you listed are within the power scale of a core rulebook race, but the Drow for example comes with SR of 6+Level, something none of the core races come close to having.

As for other creatures that ere often used with ECL rules back in 3.5, note the design team took extra effort to portray most of the monsters... as Monsters. For examples, Minotaurs openly worship Baphomet and Ogres have one of the more unpleasant descriptions in the whole damned bestiary.

Quote:
Stories are told of ogres—horrendous stories of brutality and savagery, cannibalism and torture. Of rape and dismemberment, necrophilia, incest, mutilation, and all manners of hideous murder.

Strix are available in the ISWG, as well.

The Monsters as PCs bit was posted, as well, which should explain everything you need to know.

I found that allowing anything that is CR2 or less is not unbalancing with the "monsters as PCs" guidelines.

if you look at the advanced race playtest it has alot of examples and stats for other races like minotaur.

That was kinda the idea. First I was looking for monsters that the reincarnation spell would transform people into, and secondly I was thinking about an evil player campaign where the players are monsters fighting humans/elfs/dwarfs/etc.

I'm not a big fan of players being able to play monsters. Abilities operate very differently in the players' hands than the monsters' hands; it's bad enough that the developers have to create Animals, Plants and Elementals knowing that Polymorphers could change into them and gain some of their qualities.
