Star Voter Season 9

How does everyone feel if their was an off-shoot competition, similar to RPG Superstar, but involving conceptual design?
Each Round could be a new assignment, maybe even written conceptual tasks as well as rendering such descriptions. As the rounds progress the assignments become more difficult and challenging. Tasks could range from drawing single characters to smaller scenes, to overland maps, and finally your epic battle shots!! etc,...
I am interested to hear what the amazing Paizo community has to say regarding this matter, as well as any members of the Paizo staff. This is a game I love and this could be another way to involve the gaming community. Game on friends!!

I can't draw so it would not affect me at all. The RPG Superstar can also get you a job on a constant basis writing, and it can help you avoid a lot of the legwork most RPG writers have to go through. An artist can get noticed just by doing freebies here or posting on deviant art.
The issue would be getting judges. The RPG superstar judges seem to be swamped so I would not wanted them to be double swamped. The other issue is the RPG Superstar takes the Paizo crew away from company products.
If the art contest does not do anything to alter the schedule of the Paizo employees then I would not mind voting for it, but I don't know how that would be possible since you would need judges just to cut the contestants down to the top 32.

*shrug* the art community has done well by taking free commissions on the gamer talk section and posting links to the results (thats how butterfrog got his start, and now he does a good amount of the open design art)

Just to point out, Timitius is (as of the time of my posting this) on the prowl for artists to illustrate Wayfinder #6. See *this thread* for details...
(Obviously at some point he has to close the process of looking at artists and get the magazine out though...)
