I thought that was the idea. So you're saying EMH wasn't (or isn't?) the prototype/storyboard/concept art for the Avengers movie?
I was sure that's what Disney was doing...

Though Emergency Medical Hologram could be amusing. "Please state the nature of your supervillian emergency."

Oh, and that trailer looks very cool.
I may have missed it, but who is the viliian in this? Do we know yet?

The villains are Loki and some sort of alien invasion, I think.

I also loved the "complements" that Tony was giving Bruce. Thanos may also play a role in the movie. As an eagle eyed writer at Screenrant.com we have seen the Infinity Gauntlet locked up in Odin's relic vault.

Seconded! This trailer looks sick, and this is coming from a long time Avengers fan. Although I have some concerns about Joss Whedon (his stuff is very hit and miss with me) it still looks awesome. Like many others, I thought Ed Norton was a terrific Bruce Banner and was sorry to see him leave the project, but I don't think Mark Ruffalo will do a bad job either.
I've also heard all the nerdrage from fanboys about why there's no Wasp or Ant-Man. A better question is: who the hell cares? The Wasp was a dimwitted bimbo and Ant-Man was always a total douche.
To all the angry nerds out there: This is a movie, it is not your entire life. It does not somehow retroactively re-write every comic book you've ever read. Joss Whedon will not zap your entire comic book collection with a magic ret-con gun. If you pick up an old issue of the Avengers after this movie premieres, I guarantee it will be exactly the same. Seriously, life's too short to get all worked up about trivialities like this...

You know, it seems really strange to me: Thor and Captain America were both done in what I perceive to be very different aesthetics from the Iron Man movies, so seeing the three together on screen will be disorienting for me. Especially Captain America. I liked both alright, but Capt. America seemed a little over-the-top. Using Howard Stark as an explanation for some of the plot devices linked them, but... I dunno.
Iron Man felt more... organic maybe? I don't want to use the word "realistic" though I am tempted.
Does that make any sense?

@Foghammer, Welcome to comics! Regularly Thor might be written in mythic style by Strazenski, Cap as a spy thriller by Hickman, and Iron Man as a drama by Fraction, while Bendis writes a team book where they all work together to stop a evil time lord from conquering all of time and space. It's pretty wild here but it can be a blast.

Oh, I wouldn't say I'm unfamiliar, but I figured there would be more solidarity to this line of movies since the whole Avengers idea came up in Iron Man, way before Captain America and Thor came out. I mean, this has been planned. CA and Thor were done so close together so that the Avengers movie could be done. One would expect that the powers-that-be in that department would say "Okay, we want this to have the same kind of feel that Iron Man did when this project was 'announced.'"
To me it was like Jon Favreau build his piece of the puzzle out of Legos, and the other two guys made theirs from Mega Blocks.
I'm hoping we get the best of both worlds with the Avengers movie. I don't think that I will be disappointed, because I don't collect comics; I'm just a superhero fan, not a fanboy.

"Can someone PLEASE turn me off!" ...Actually Picardo would be a fun Loki :)

I agree, as long as you mean number one. IM 2 seemed like an excuse to blow things up,and I found Black widow's presence forced. Thor was too much (obvious) greenscreen and not enough silver screen imho (though the Hawkeye cameo was small enough to not bother me). I have not seen cap yet. I will miss Norton as Banner.
But this looks like a lot of fun. :)

I will not miss Norton as Banner. The guy is a bit too cocky to be a proper scientist/Banner. The best Banner ever would have been Steve Buscemi, a scrawny, thin and weak-looking Banner.

The Avengers looks amazing so far!!!
I agree, Banner could be better, but that's such a minor thing. Robert Downie is back!
m'kay... i'm completely with you on the "can't wait for this movie!" feeling, but i'm sort of sick of seeing them screw the image of Bruce Banner. It's perhaps the most defining characteristic of Banner. He's weak and puny, and the Hulk alter ego hates him for it.
Instead, Hollywood keeps throwing these BEEFCAKE! (TM) Banners at us... sigh...

You realize that anyone who doesn't fall into the 100+ ton category is "puny" to the Hulk, right? I'm pretty sure he's called the Thing puny a few times. He's DEFINITELY called Spidey puny fairly often.

Tobey MacGuire *IS* puny. So yeah, they have done well on that one. Now, do you understand what I meant? your comparison with Spidey hit the nail right on its head: the actor for Banner should be no bigger than MacGuire if not smaller. SAY NO TO FUTURE BANNER BEEFCAKES! :P

I agree mostly but how can you call Norton beefcake. Norton could be classified as a pretty boy with a toned body but he doesn't have the muscle mass to be beefcake.

hmmm... you are right... Norton was the least beefcake of 'em all... in my head he just stands the tallest though due to his gigantic ego... :P

I don't know about anyone else, but I just listen to my wife and her friends talk about him. If the primary thing I hear about an actor is X-rated comments coming from the opposite sex, then into the beefcake/cheesecake category they go.

To be fair, nearly every actor in Hollywood is attractive and can possibly draw those sorts of comments from women, so I'm not sure what can be done about that.
To me, a beefcake is an actor who very obviously makes a living from his body, not just an actor who happens to be good looking. Ryan Reynolds is a good example of a complete beefcake.

Ok, Norton may not be a "complete beefcake", but he's still a "little beefcake"
A proper Banner need not only be physically meek, but also mentally unnattractive... he's the Charisma 7 Int 18 of Marvel's world. His flashing smile never got him out of a Thunderbolt missile lock situation...

The problem with that is such people fall into a different category.......terrible actors. You can't carry a movie worth watching with an uncharismatic actor playing the main character.

No, but a good actor can certainly portray a socially inept, hard to like, uncharismatic character.
That being said, I'm no Hulk expert, but I never perceived Banner as being uncharismatic, but more nice guy when you get to know him, but not very good at perseuding people. I mean, if he was a complete anti-social unlikable person, he'd never have won Betty over.

Well, low charisma doesn't necessarily mean that you're fundamentally unlikeable. A low charisma character could just be a very nondistinctive one...the kind of person that you don't either like or dislike, but just barely even bother to notice, assuming you manage that.
Ass to being unlikeable, that depends on the Banner. 616 Banner isn't such a bad guy. Ultimate Banner is a jerkass. Of course, that just means he fits in with the vast majority of the Ultimate Universe. (Was anyone not associated with Ultimate Spider-Man NOT a complete tool?) Hell, for large swaths of time he even stole the non-jerkass characters from the Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate F4.

Two words: Rick Moranis
He was always my pick for Banner
