So although I formally bet that the answer to this will be "NO." I'm going to ask anyway: Will players who play PFS be allowed to use the playtest system to have alternative races? So long as they understand that they will not get a chronicle sheet for gold, XP and PA? The reason I ask, is that in the past, playtests have been allowed for other PFS characters so I am wondering if this will also count as well.
Thank you in advance for your time!

It already says in the blog post this won't be legal for PFS. I assume that means in either the playtest or final form. Just too much potential for abuse without a GM's direct oversight.
Well, I guess that ends that. But I will say this, if there isn't a modified form available for PFS, I have a feeling a lot of people are going to jump ship from PFS because that would be really unfair to make me buy a 60 dollar book that no one who plays PFS would be allowed to use.

There will be a great deal in this book that is PFS legal. This system is just one part of a much large book.

From the description "This definitive sourcebook for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game provides tons of new character options for all seven “core” player character races, from archetypes that allow elf characters to explore their connection to nature and magic to feats and spells that let a dwarf character carry on the legacy of his multi-generational clan or a gnome explore her connection to the First World or delve deep into her weird obsessions."
Sounds like there is going to be plenty for PFS here. The race building part is about 28 pages long in the play-test form. If the ARG is as long as Ultimate Combat then we are looking at a 256 page book. So there is allot of space for some good stuff the PFS. Also no one is saying the book is required.
BTW the book is $39.95 not $60. :)

Hey there, Lady Ophelia.
1) Nobody is making you buy anything.
2) There will be some maerial in the race book that is legal for PFS, but not everything. In particular, not "build your own races".
3)Just like the "words of power" chapter from Ultimate Magic isn't PFS-legal.
While I am glad that "Words of Power" is not legal in PFS, (Have had many a headaches with that already.) I have quite a number of players who want to play PFS and have heard about having "alternative races" available thanks to the upcoming ARG. How am I to tell them "No you can't have any even though there's a book that says you can?" That's kinda stupid..
And yes, you are correct that it's 40 instead of 60. But in light of this, I am highly considering cancelling my order, since the main reason I was going to purchase the ARG, is going to be not allowed to use for PFS. I might as well just wait for the PRD for the extra stuff for PFS that comes from ARG. (Or the PFSRD20 too..)
Side Note: I do like the playtest system. It's built PFS point-buy style which I like. And it's very creative, so if I were to ever run a personal campaign, then it would be a lot more fun to run.

Umm... didn't people just strongly allude to there being lots of new stuff, including playable races, that would be legal for PFS? They even show a bunch of races that were convention exclusives near the end (and presumably will be legal for PFS with the book's release).
All I heard so far was that the "Build your own race" would not be allowed, just like "Build your own magic items" or "Build your own spells" is not currently allowed.
It sounds like there will be lots of great new stuff for PFS in this book and canceling any orders now might be a bit premature. (Especially since this is such an awesome start)

Well, I'm not saying that it's not going to be great, but I think I'll wait now until the book finally comes out for me to decide to purchase it instead of pre-ordering. I live on a limited income, so I don't have money to throw around on just a handful of things that will be PFS legal. I'm better off just waiting until it's available on the PRD.
