How would you do a Kor?

Conversions

Hey all, one of my player's asked me how one would do a Kor from magic in Pathfinder. I was thinking just using Human and applying flavor text.

What do you think and/or suggest?

Racial bonus to climb and possibly acrobatics. Racial weapon proficiency in spiked chain (treated as a martial weapon) and/or some custom creation to represent their hooks and ropes (maybe a variation on a whip?).

All the Kor.

Alright, so far I got this:

Kor:
+2 on any ability score of your choice.
Medium: Kor are medium sized creatures and have no bonuses or penalties based on size.
Normal Speed: Kor have a base speed of 30 feet.
Weapon Familiarity: Spiked Chain, Whip, and maybe Kusari-Gama(?) as a martial weapon. It's a chain-like weapon, and some are portrayed with a sword and chain weapon.
Acrobatic: +2 on Acrobatics and Climb.
...

Hm... anything I should do or add? It feels... kinda lacking.

Kor:
+2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma
Medium: Kor are medium sized creatures and have no bonuses or penalties based on size.
Normal Speed: Kor have a base speed of 30 feet.
Weapon Familiarity: Spiked Chain, Whip, and maybe Kusari-Gama(?) as a martial weapon. It's a chain-like weapon, and some are portrayed with a sword and chain weapon.
Acrobatic: +2 on Acrobatics and Climb.
and then one more Kor-theme specific racial feature

I know it isn't very specific to their cards, but Kor bear a striking resemblance to Aasimar. I agree that a for a more specific Kor, a DEX bonus is in order. However, I would give them a Con or Str penalty, rather than Charisma. No Kor really gets bigger than a 2/2, and most are 1/1 (with a few exceptions for Kor riding something).

As for additional racial features, the Kor were originally known in Tempest for redirecting damage to themselves, so perhaps Bodyguard as a free feat? More recently, Kor are getting a lot of equipment-related abilities, so perhaps you could give them faster crafting or count as one level higher for fighter Weapon Training.

MtG-RPG crossovers are FUN ^_^

The redirect damage Kor redirect it from themselves to their allies. A reversed shield other as a spell-like?

You could instead do Kor as two related races: Rathi Kor (damage redirection) and Zendikar Kor (agile climbers).

O_O

Oops. Well, to be fair, Tempest was about 14 years ago...

Perhaps something like the Summoner's Life Bond then? Seeing as that ability takes the summoner 14 levels to acquire, maybe put a limit on it- CON modifier or character level?

From Wikipedia....

Kor refers to:

Kor River, an important river in the Fars province of Iran that may have been named after Cyrus the Great (Korush in Persian).

Kor (Star Trek), a Klingon character in the fictional Star Trek universe

Kor (Dungeons & Dragons), a fictional deity of the Al-Qadim campaign setting from Dungeons & Dragons

Kor, a fictitious African lost city, setting of H. Rider Haggard's classic novel She.

Kör, the name of the bed belonging to Hel, queen of the underworld in Norse mythology

Kor of the Metal Heads, a character in the video game Jak II

KOR, an acronym of the anime and manga Kimagure Orange Road

KOR, an acronym for the professional wrestling tournament, King of the Ring, used in World Wrestling Entertainment

KOR, a Polish acronym for Workers' Defence Committee, a Polish civil society group

Kôr, a place in J.R.R.Tolkien's mythology, often called Tirion upon Túna in the published works.

kor, an ancient Hebrew unit of capacity equal to 10 baths or 10 ephahs

Kor, a fantasy race of humanoids found in the Magic: the Gathering card game from Wizards of the Coast. They are primarily white-magic aligned nomads native to the plane of Zendikar

Kor is also a human surname associated with:

Avshalom Kor, Israeli linguist

So can I assume we're talking about the M:tG race and not Hel's bed?

Yep. The MTG race.

So... a little more work done on them.

Kor(Zendikar Version, since it's the one I'm most familiar with.)
+2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, -2 Constitution
Medium: Kor are medium sized creatures and have no bonuses or penalties based on size.
Normal Speed: Kor have a base speed of 30 feet.
Acrobatic: +2 racial bonus on Acrobatics and Climb skill checks.
Weapon Familiarity: Kor treat the Spiked Chain, Whip, Double Chained Kama, Kyoketsu Shoge, Double-chained Kama, Kusarigama, and Meteor Hammer as martial weapons. (This represents all the various chain and/or rope-like weapons they're always seen using and specializing in.)
Equipment Training: Kor treat their Fighter levels as one level higher for the purposes of Armour Training, Weapon Training, Armour Mastery, and Weapon Mastery. This ability also applies to any other class that offers Weapon Training or Armour Training abilities.(Such as Sohei.)
...

I was also think on perhaps making a Kor based feat that would allow them to treat chain-based weapons as Duelist-usable weapons.

What do you all think so far?

I suspect the weapons familiarity is to broad. Just pick two of those weapons and add that they are also familiar with any weapons that have "Kor" in the description. Then just create a few variant weapons for their use.

Darn, I was hoping we were talking about the paladin from Goblins! :D

I started a thread about Zendikar but there was no interest at the time.

I was thinking about the Orcs of Kor from Warlords series of games. Gornak Elfeater kicks ass!
