Hello!
I am extremely new to the d20 system.
I've made some past attempts but none really stuck until I gave Pathfinder a go. I'm really enjoying myself!
I had a few questions though, regarding Golems, and I was hoping I could get some answers/suggestions. Thanks.
I don't own the Bestiary books just yet and all I have is the Core book and the GM Guide.
Alright, so, right off the bat.:
- Is it possible for a character/person to place their soul in a Golem that they have made? If so, where may I find the rules for that? Or is it handwavium?
- Does it have to be a certain size? I.E. No smaller than 8 ft?
- Are there certain materials that they can't be made from?
- What classes can make a Golem body and place their soul into it?
I realize that as the GM I can say what works and what doesn't, but I also want to be sure that I know about any rules that may be handy to use in this specific instance.
Thanks!

To answer your questions in order and to the best of my ability:
-Handwavium. You're looking perhaps for another construct creature? that's the closest you can normally get to the living sentient machine.
-Each golem has a given size and that's fixed unless you modify it afterwards with an enlarge/reduce type spell (I suppose they would have to be able to target objects to be picky)
-Yes and no. The golems given represent those that are sanctioned by paizo and their people. After that, you are heading into homebrew territory. Generally any material that isn't listed there can be attained from an elemental, a construct, or a template.
-There are a number of qualifications to make a golem: first you need the money for components (given for each golem in the description) You also need the craft(construct) feat, a minimum caster level, specific spells within your casting ability, and need to make ongoing craft checks.
