Titan Mauler Question

I'm building a titan mauler who plans on using a large greatsword. But just to clarify, what kind of penalty would I be starting off with? According the PF rulebook a -2 penalty occurs for every size category larger than the user. So is it only -2? Or is it -2 for every size (such as light, one handed, two handed etc?)

He starts with the penalty of impossible. A medium creature cannot wield a large sized two hander, titan mauler does not change this.

Yeah, Titan Mauler is not as cool as it sounds. You can still only use 2handed weapons of size medium.You can only use large versions of 1handers 2handed.

Yes as it's written now the titan mauler doesn't change the limitation the other's have mentioned, i hope when the UC errata comes out it will change that.

Where does it say that in the rules? because i believe its only a -2 for useing a weapon not sized for your character larger or smaller

The titan mauler in UC gets this at level 3

Massive Weapons (Ex): At 3rd level, a titan mauler
becomes skilled in the use of massive weapons looted
from her titanic foes. The attack roll penalty for using
weapons too large for her size is reduced by 1, and this
reduction increases by 1 for every three levels beyond 3rd
(to a minimum of 0). This ability replaces trap sense.

and even if he is stuck using a large 1hd weapon wouldnt matter. Large katana is one hand and its a greatsword(2d6) with a potential 15-20 crit range. I find that worth it giving up trap sense and also as he levels he can get a bigger one

1d8, 2d6, 3d6, 4d6, 6d6, 8d6, 12d6.

would it look strange to see a barb using a freaking huge katana yes but heck its a fantasy game and there could be frost giant samurai out there.

The answer: The Titan Mauler needs more FAQs than the Summoner.

@StealthElite

It's in the core book, you can't use two handed weapons that are larger than you, if you want the rule search one of the numerous threads about the titan mauler.

@leo1925

Then what about 1 1/2 handed sword that are both? see the fore mentioned Katana.

bastard sword is a two hand weapon but with EWP its now a one hand.

I believe the standard Pathfinder Barbarian character (that's used in a lot of modules as a preset character) wields a large sized bastard sword...feel free to take it from her...if you dare.

quarterstaves are a two handed double weapon but with the quarterstaff master feat becomes a one hander, can you use it then?

hell a titan mauler should be able to 1 hand and twf with shotguns since they are two handed weapons...im liking this more and more

In the case of bastard sword (and katana since the follow the same rule) you can weild a large one if you have the EWP because with the EWP it is a one handed weapon so you can weild a large bastard sword using two hands.

It's technically always a one-handed weapon, it's just so unwieldy that you have to wield it with two hands without proficiency.

One of my players chose this archetype and now I'm wondering if he didn't nerf himself by choosing it.

I've read a few other threads about this subject and it seems there hasn't been any official word from the DEVs on what the correct interpretation of the powers are.

Can anyone point me toward a more up to date answer or any official ruling on this?

/edit Argh, of course Ii found it after I posted. http://paizo.com/paizo/faq/v5748nruor1g1#v5748eaic9okv

Silver Crusade

The Titan Mauler archetype is broken. But there was word from the developer, even if unofficially.

This should help you.
