Question about the beast rider cavalier

with the recent death of one of my characters i was interested in playing a beast rider cavalier. but looking at the list of available mounts at level 4 none of them using the animal companion stats are large. what am i missing? how am i supposed to ride it?

You aren't. Ride a horse for now, then trade up.

I was under the impression that you utilize the large conversion stats from the Exotic Mount entry itself, which makes for some pretty pitiful large creatures. +2 STR, -2 DEX, +2 CON? Really?

That's for level 7 or higher I think.

Seems like a mistake to me.

You get a horse at 1st. At 4th you can upgrade to one of the listed mounts listed for small or medium size characters. Only none of the listed mounts are not capable of being mounts for medium size creatures until 7th level when they go to large. Only thing is at 7th level you get you next boost in mount selection.

Some of the offered mounts have no animal companion stats like the Bison.

Bison are listed here. Check Bestiary 2, I think. Under Aurochs.

I found Aurochs companions but no Bison companion under Herd Animals in the first Bestiary.

after a few more days of searching i still havent found anything? has any new info popped up?
