This is a wee bit of a convoluted plan but i always liked arcane archer and with the SLA changes for prestige classes i thought id try something a bit wacky(Core/apg/um/uc pretty sure im in there now with the build)

I envision him as an archer first caster second mostly focused on self buffs/manuverability with some offense that melds well with the playstyle

Thus far its fighter1/wizard1(scryer Needed for EK early access)/eldricth knight5/arcane archer 1. The stats reflect tiefling and level adjustments(i am open to different races)
Str:14
Dex:20
Con:10
Int:18
Wis:10
Cha:8

My feats are looking something like this(would like info feat progression i dont play many archers)
1st-point blank,precise shot(fighter bonus)
3rd-weapon focus
5th-Weapon Spec
EK1=deadly aim
Ek2=Rapid Shot
7th=Many shot

I am having a hard time with magic items outside obligatory stat point boosts. We have 37.5k gold to spend

I apologize if i am missing something key there i will come back and fill in information as i can

like the title states im currently working on an elf rogue atm and id like to use the elven curve blade feint build. the fighter level gets me essentially free proficiency and a bonus feat so it seems like itd be an ok dip. but im curious if its going to hurt me in the long run.

i mostly just know classes at this point and the fighter being ranged. ive been through one too many characters at this point im finding it hard to play anything. that basically accounts for my wanting something odd but effective

i cant even come up with one, the basic stuff we need seems so straight foreward to do i cant come up with anything.

I totally forgot about witches haha

im about to make a character for a new campaign everyones basically decided but me. The party thus far is alchemist, ranged fighter, cleric, ranger.

im thinking maybe a wizard with a lot of control but id like to see some other idea. i like off the wall yet effective concepts im havin issues doing that with a wizard tho

do they stack? the class features they modify are all different. They both modify armor proficiency which i am unsure if that is a conflicting item

7 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

Kama, Double-Chained: This weapon comprises a pair of kama connected with an 8-foot length of chain. The wielder can attack as if armed with a single kama in each hand or extend the chain to make a single reach attack. By swinging the rope, the wielder can whip the kama about to disarm or trip opponents. Furthermore, if one of the weapons is dropped, the wielder can retrieve as a free action by pulling on the chain.

The way im reading it as it counts as 2 Kama, my question is can it then be used with weapon finesse since they are light weapons normally?

Im currently in the process of making a character and am going to craft myself a sun blade(mostly for thematic reasons though i like the weapon)but i was wondering and i guess it applies to all named weapons if i could put on an additional enchantment and how it would effect costs

one bump before i let it die

updated a post with the build wont let me edit the main post

i have it saved to another pc atm ill write out what i remember and post it. i didn't think about that when i made the initial post i do apologize. Id like to keep my race and revelation the same thats pretty much all im set in stone with

EDIT: Those are the feats i think im torn on which route to go with eldritch heritage if it is even worth it for that matter

Aasimar Oracle
with racial and a misc bonus to wis from campaign
Str:10
Dex:16
Con:12
Int:10
Wis:16
Cha:18

Dark Tapestry revelations: Pierce the veil, Wings of Darkess, Many forms, Cloak of Darkness

+4 headband of alluring charisma
+2 ring of protection
+2 amulet of natural armor

81000g out of 82000(i think my math is right)

Feats:
Weapon finesse
Eschew Materials
Skill Focus(
Eldritch Heritage
Minor spell expertise
Improved Eledritch heritage

as the title says i'm having issues picking feats for an Aasimar Oracle of the dark tapestry. we are 11th level 20 point buy. i intend for him to be a buffer/debuffer with a slight melee bent(one hand/shield combo) since we need the bodies. if you need any other information id be willing to provide it.

well 5k will get an amulet of mighty fists+1 which will do the trick, or once it gets a high enough BaB and a feat eldritch claws from ultimate magic i think its in that book make his claws silver/magic for overcoming DR

no one has any ideas except retirement? harsh

as tempting as retirement would be id like to keep on playing in this campaign

my most recent character has died and ive decided to play a synthesist summoner with the dimensional agility feat chain. having never played a summoner really before it seems like a lot of fun. The only problem is never playing anything like this before i have no clue what items to buy so i turn to you for just a little advice 20 point buy if you needed to know, and we really only have the core books(phb, apg, UM, UC)

rich parents trait if you want makes it 900 starting gold i do beleive

ive never had much luck with rogues but our party is in need of trap finder extraordinaire. are there any options besides rogue and a ranger archtype i dont much care for. any help is appreciates.

the other players are a healing focused cleric a gunslinger and a summoner

after a few more days of searching i still havent found anything? has any new info popped up?

thanks for the info i appreciate it!

thats what i figured, but is there anywhere it says it so i can cite the source?

as the black blade gains enhancement bonuses increases do i get to chose how to spend the points or is it a generic +1 +2 ect?

with the recent death of one of my characters i was interested in playing a beast rider cavalier. but looking at the list of available mounts at level 4 none of them using the animal companion stats are large. what am i missing? how am i supposed to ride it?

why is the wizard this end all be all thing people talk about i dont quite get it

im going to be playing in a party consisting of a priest(tome of secrets squishy healer) a synthesist summoner, a gunslinger and a spellslinger wizard(thats me)and a magus. its just getting started we are level 5. i have a nagging feeling that the party is missing something. id kinda like to optimize for my friends as they are more excited for their chars than me and my dm doesnt pull the punches so to speak. so what would you do mighty forum posters?

i like the emissary and beast rider cavalier if im reading right the archtypes work together id like to do something like that but im not sure.

sounds so cool, i cant wait till the fourth im going to go insane

selfish combat focused bard?! ooo oo please tell! I wanna be a bard so bad and my party forgets inspire courage. so a selfish one is right up my alley

i just got done talking to a few of them about it online and they said they were having trouble with a lack of consistent ranged damage, i figured why not try to fill that role for them. is the ranger still an ok choice, or are there better ones?

we are all eagerly awating UC but i wont be able to get it until the 4th and the game starts saturday. ill have to look at the trapper ranger i didnt know it got trapfinding

You said your friends have trouble remembering the Inspire courage bonus anyway...But look at arcane duelist then.

touche good sir. but how useful is the stealspell benefit i have to be missing something there. i just looked at it as a sometimes remebered thing to a super situational benefit. enlighten me though im still kinda new to the game

reading through the PRD at the sandman variant i dont like the idea of giving up inspire courage for something that to me seems really situational.

i like the idea of a rogue but i have had terrible experiences with them so im hesitant to play it again. the bard idea peaks my interest but my friends tend to forget the inspire courage bonus and think everyone but a healer needs to do a decent amount of damage

like the title says im about to join a group that just started trial of the beast, it consists of a magus, a summoner, a cavalier, and a priest(3rd party tome of secrets). seems to be realitivly well rounded so im at a loss to what to add to this party. any advice is greatly appreciated. its 20 point buy and pretty much anything goes. tome of secrets is the only 3rd party thing allowed. so wise forum folks what would you add?

please oh please can someone with the book let me know about the holy gun paladin? pretty please?

well in a few weeks time i need to get a 4th level character made. i got it in my head to play a dwarf druid. i know wildshape is a big deal and i intend to make use of it as needed but what i want to know is a level of figher worth it for the weapon/armor profeciencies(i want to wear stoneplate) or is the loss of the 1 level not worth it and should i just take a feat for armor proficiency?

i was also considering going half elf. trading skill focus for weapon training for a reach weapon. would that be better to work with or should i keep to my guns and stick with the awesome that is the gnome

like the title says im working on a summoner. my problem isnt with the eidolon its with the actual summoner itself.

we are using 25 pointbuy, are level 7(i only get 6th level gold+1k), id really like to stay a gnome if possible.

the question i run into is since im making my eidolon with a damage dealing focus what am i supposed to do with the actual summoner. shoot a crossbow once a turn and a few spell? it just seems a really passive playstyle i would like to come up with something a bit more active. sorry if its a little vague ill clear things up as i can. thanks in advance guys/gals!

as the title says im curious which route is better to go from a dpr standpoint. i like the flavor of both i just am at a loss to which is the biggest hitter
