It's been a slow week in the game I'm running as well. I wasn't sure if it was just me or a summer thing.

No, they are all like that.

Low Dex, Heavy armor = the Mac truck approach to stealth.

At least you weren't chatting the whole time. ; )

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Are doing paladin bashing? tsts, you all forget that Solaric is more preist than paladin. OK, in Karlan's case that's a different story^^

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Lol, I love me boggarts^^

Male Halforc Ranger 5

I remember I used to have a children's book with a Boggart. Loved that book but no idea what the name is. Possibly just 'The Boggart'.
Yep 'The Boggart' by Susan Cooper, loved that book when I was young.

This

Or this?

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

ninja'd^^

For what age would you recommend it?

Male Halforc Ranger 5

Not really sure, I remember reading and enjoying it at about 7-8 and had it read to me when I was younger as a bedtime story.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

I jusrt noticed it's recommended for grade 4-7, atm I'm looking for a nice reading for my 12 year old pupils.

Male Halforc Ranger 5

Would probably work? They might find the descriptions of the computers in the book slightly dated but otherwise I think it'd be okay.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

We will soon have a new bunch of players around the fire, since I in a moment of overestimation of my capabilities overtook another PBP...

So be nice, there are enough marshmallows for everyone!

You mean the marshmallows weren't supposed to be devoured by Elyn!?

Hi, my name is Bree and I'm addict... oh wait, wrong group. Er, I mean, I play the character Bree Longfield in the Second Darkness game Zyren just took over. Our DM vanished, sucked in by reality, so after awhile one of our other players (Winter Snow aka Shifty) sought out Zyren to take over the game. Greetings everyone.

No worries, we are all addicts...;)

I made a new profile for yopur campaign. I won't finish it until tomorrow, but I will compile information on certain things for you on it.

Btw. Larur or Feldin has to die...cause normally they are one person, not two...^^

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

It's irrelevant to Bree. I think only Sebastian and Winter would really care, if at all.

Zyren, you picked up another campaign? That's just... awesome.

Bree, you and your fellow players just really lucked out, Zyren is great. :) Welcome to the campfire.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Thank you, Kirk :) We really look forward to getting our game rolling again. We were all quite sad when our former DM disappeared on us.

It could be one person. HaHa! We met Feldin, but Larur was referred to as that is someone we need to talk to to get cashed out from the tournament. Did not pick up that either Feldin or Larur might be first and last names of the same person.

I know. You'd think I was a bloody Australian showing up in all the worst hellholes in the World. ;)

I've decided I'm not even looking at the recruitment threads anymore! Although I don't think playing in 2 or 3 and running 1 is too too bad. I wonder what the PbP participant average is?

I am definitely now at a point that I apply only based on DM rep and if I recognize the other applicants. Or if the concept is unique. The slowness of this Second Darkness campaign is what led me to go for your Freeport and Dibbit's Osirion gig...and well, that Goblin roll call was pretty funny. But my dance card is now full....till Jade Regent :p

When I first joined the boards, I applied to just about everything. Most of those games are no longer with us, rest in peace. Even now I am in a couple that are limping along, but I am in 3 that are really dedicated groups, that includes yours, and I could add the Osirion game, but it is still fresh and we will have to see if people hang on.

I am really looking forward to our Second Darkness group getting back up and running. It is very heavy on the RP and has some great writers. We only had one fight, less than 24 hours of in game time, and have nearly 800 heavy posts. A wordy and philosophical bunch. A pretty active OOC thread too, which is nice, it helped hold the group together during the hiatus.

Hello folks. Welcome to the campfire. I am Kyren, a halfling sorcerer in Zyren's Hearts of Darkness and you will also see me as Solaric a half drow cleric in Zyren's Hearts of Light. I also run a campaign as DM Harpwizard called Heroes of Elsir Vale. The three games keep me pretty busy, so I don't chat too much here at the fireplace, but in the games I usually talk way too much. Here, have some graham crackers and chocolate with your marshmello.

Male Wandering Nomad 3

I got lucky and the 2nd PbP I ever applied for was Heart of Light. Since then I haven't really sought more PbP experience, except for my brief attempt to run one myself (went under cause I couldn't handle the work load), and when I joined another one of Zyren's campaigns. However, I just posted a character on a recruitment thread for a new sea-oriented PbP. I've always been attracted to a naval setting for a campaign, and even tried to run one as a PbP, but I was too busy for that. Hopefully it takes off (and I get chosen!), because I've grown very attached to the character I made, but unfortunately not everyone is as dedicated as most of the people in this thread and these campaigns.

Also, I say we should give Zahur a little more time. He's been with us for a long time, and it might just be a rough week for him this week. Or he might have forgotten to warn us of an extended absence.

And, since we're doing introductions, I play Kirk Spearborn, Rogue/Ranger/SoontobeAssassin, in Zyren's Heart of Light and Bonzo Rozer, Summoner, in Zyren's Heart of Darkness. I also enjoy the laid back role of Rupert Hentzau (kudos to whoever calls me out for name-stealing without having to do a wikipedia search) in a Kingmaker campaign that goes at a much slower pace than these campaigns here, but is still very fun. I'm kind of hoping my new campaign will resemble that Kingmaker campaign at least in posting frequencies, because Zyren keeps us so busy, haha.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

You meant YOU keep ME busy, heh :)

@ The Second Darkness guys - some questions:

Does any of you know about your XPs?

What did you expect to happen in the alley you are now all waiting?

What did you plan for the next day?

Did Saul tell you anything about your new tasks at the Gambling Hall?

-----

I finished my profile, if you could please check if I included anything, thank you.

As soon as I got answers to my questions above, I will resurrect the campaign.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

And one clarification issue: I post from GMT +1...so please don't leave comments like ("where is the Dm, why is he not answering me, when does he come online, why is this so slow"...we already had that)

and I'm off to work now :)

I'm GMT+10/Kilo Time Zone.
"Where is my GM, he's such a slacker, 50 posts a night is just so sub par"

XP = No idea. We had some awesome roleplay, we had one decent size brawl, we had more role-play, and then told a pair of Elves what they could kiss. A pair of shady looking Elves trying to convince Winter that they were the injured girls friends? Pffft, not on his watch.

We were waiting until the morning because we believed that the person who organised the attempted robbery would be rendezvousing at the docks, so we were going to dress up like the attempted robbers and try ambush him. Personally I reckon he's just as likely to have worked out the job botched and have cleared off, but never hurts to try, who knows, he might BE that stupid :P

After that happened, we were going to check out the Arch where the wounded Elf had apparently been researching.

We had only just been hired for the gambling hall, notionally as 'muscle' - no specific jobs had been referred to.

Male Human (Gundarian) Cavalier 4

Hey guys, sorry for the absence. Like Garabbott said, this week has been a bit crazy. I will try to post a retcon post and then a current post before end of day.

It is not from not enjoying the story or anything like that, unfortunately life takes precedence over rpgs'

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Bree was suppose to meet with Marcus Fenn at dawn, at the river's edge near St. Casperian's Mission to give him the chest and get paid another 150 gold(That was all Tom's doing, this was how he introduced me to the group). We were waiting in the alley way for dawn to come, and have now made our way to the rendezvous location. Initially, Bree was going to take Sweeney only with her directly there, because he was the type of person she could easily be believed to hang around. The others (sans Kaylen who separated from the group and is over by the clock tower if I'm not mistaken, although she doesn't know where we are and visa verse) were to take the long way around and watch the meeting from a distance. However in one post, Tom regrouped us either by mistake or on purpose, idk. Captain Creesy is apparently waiting out on the river in his boat, waiting to step in and lend aid should we need it.

Winter is convinced that Bree is stupid and foolish, and that this Marcus most likely intended to simply kill her and take the chest. Bree realizes that is a possibility, but argues that he wouldn't be the first to try to kill her and he wouldn't be the first she would kill defending herself either. Bree and Winter have been butting heads a bit. I think Winter would like to toss Bree into the river, lol.

I haven't received any XP yet, the others received one round of XP prior to my entrance.

The group seems to believe that their new employer will be willing to take her on as well. Bree has not committed herself to the group, as she sees herself as already being employed as a Bounty Hunter working for Jefferson (read my background story, she was created specifically for this campaign). Though, that position does not tie her down to one spot per se, and Bree is quite flexible.

Though this time there were no allusions. It was a bit graphic... Winter was a gentleman about it, even though he did consider a mercy killing.

Experience-wise, I think Tom was just going to raise us up a level at the story appropriate moments.

I had the joy of 2 of those 'special' games. Kira lasted a little longer than the 'under-age Tian girl torturer who licked blood off her spiked chain and had out-loud fantasies of torturing her female victims' in a CothCT game. That character lasted just through the first encounter, when as a group, we all declared that we would not remain associated with this person, and kicked her to the curb. People who defended his characters on these boards as benign fun, never looked that one up.

Lol, yeah but Kira seriously DID need saving and would've done anything you told her to and as dramatically as possible to keep the attention on her. Bree would only let you save her in death, and even then she would cling to herself. If Bree should find herself at the bottom of the river, and should Bree find a young elven woman tied to an anchor (presumably dead) Bree would merely relieve her corpse of anything valuable if it be there (a dead woman buried in the river has no need for these things) and then forget she saw the body. That is, of course, until she saw a wanted poster with the young woman's face on it offering a reward for any information on her whereabouts... No, no, Bree has no need of being saved ;)

Saddly, Kira exited right after I joined. It may be in part because he knew his character was about to be booted by Tom. It may be in part because he realized that at least two other players chewed him out in his confessions thread, and then enter a stranger who chewed him out (under my main name Twilightrose) with a new character made just for his campaign. I'm fairly certain that he left just in the nick of time, as one of us surely would have killed Kira.
