*PbP Player Submission Thread*

Gamer Connection

I figured why not create this kind of thread to help GMs look for players if they are considering running a PBP. If this gets popular, we can ask for a sticky.
Please only post from a completed Character Sheet/Profile clickable avatar (click mine for example).

Let's use a standard format like...

Character Name: Kordel Mordaen
Race: Elf
Class: Rogue
Level: 1
Character Creation Method:* 20 point buy, 2 trait
Books Used: Core/APG
Campaign Choice(s):** Carrion Crown, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Serpent Skull

* can rework to 15 point buy or whatever GM desires.
** start with first choice, can rework traits and backgrounds to other campaigns.

Character Name: Ormil The Owl
Race: Gnome
Class: Druid
Level: 1
Character Creation Method: 20 point buy, 2 trait
Books Used: Core/APG/Gnomes of Golarion
Campaign Choice(s): Kingmaker, Rise of the Runelords

Honestly, I don't think this will work as a thread for a couple of reasons.

A. I can make a dozen or so characters adn flood this board with tons of lvl 1's making my chances very high for selection. It's not something I would do but somehting I can

b.Due to the one hour limitation on editing characters you can't update your status like *picked up* or *unavailable*.

My suggestion? Instead of a potentially huge thread like this make a Wiki or some kind of site like Google Wave where players can submit there characters under a certain page format where they can update the status and even inform GM's if the character was written utilizing other sources or updated with those sources. Then link the page here.

A. Not sure it makes much of a difference. If a GM looks at a character and likes the concept, it doesnt really matter how many characters that player submits. If the GM thinks it will be a good fit, then thats what he/she would prefer I guess.

B. I agree, and your suggestion is a great one IF someone creates it and people use it. Personally, Id rather have something like this on-site here at Paizo, instead of looking to anotbher website for players.

Also, once GMs find what they want, they can create a thread like..
Calling the following PBP characters (if available)... and give them whatever timeframe designated in the post to respond while periodically checking their own recruitment thread. After that they can maybe pick whoever from both threads and finalize things in their recruitment thread.

Just thinking this kind of thread still may be useful. Sort of eShopping in one place. :)

Or it could be all that the GM can be bothered to find scrolling through two dozen pages. :P

Non-Sticky "Updated (insert month)" thread title prefix?

I added URL for the characters so if this thread is actually a success then they can look at the backgrounds and appearence for some inspiration. But I agree that TarkXT might be right about DMs not bothering to look here :p

Maybe monthly updated thread?
For example...
(Updated-June)**PBP Character Submission Thread

This way GMs won't have to sift through incredibly long threads and players can just repost available characters.

sounds like a nice idea.

Sovereign Court

It is a nice idea, but it ignores the way most DM's prefer to recruit- posting their own recruitment topic and having players apply, rather than picking them from a list that won't be editable or updated.

Its a seller's market out there; plenty more people wanting to play than GM's willing to run and commit to running.

Tldr- This topic might see some use, but I think personally its a lot of effort for little gain.

If people take a look it might encounrage some to become DMs. I only got started as a DM due to the lack out there, lol.

Ill was going to redo the thread 1st week of June (with "Updated June" in the thread title) for one final attempt, after that I wont bother.
