Hamilton Renaud
Seeing the head do down and start growing into two, WP yells, " don't hit the heads!!!! as he releases the knot on the sling
[dice=bullet to the Hydra]1d20+10-2+1
[dice=damage]1d6+7
With a merry laugh that surprises even himself, Hamilton replies, I could have used that information before. Raaaaaen... Help! Ah... What do we do?

Round 3:
Raen: Go
Doxon: Go
Vael: Go
Hamilton: Go
Baddie: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Ushyle: TBD
Current Headcount: 4
Hydra body: 40
Raen Varkath
"Do you schoolwork," Raen replies with a wry smile. "But I did it for you. Hit it with fire or acid," she directs, producing a vial of acid herself. "The halfling's not wrong though -- those heads will grow back, so watch out!" She aims for the stump, though that's a challenge in the swaying tangle of necks.
Acid Touch: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 1 = 20
Acid: 1d6 ⇒ 2
@ GM: hydra also takes an additional Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 4 from the Alchemist's Fire last round.
Vael Oakfist
The starknife continues to attack the hydra...
Attack w/Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
... but remains ineffective against the creature.
Knowing that laughter could turn sour at any moment, Vael looks at Doxon. "Let me help ye get closer." The shaman puts his hands together and hums. Slowly he pulls his hands apart, and starlight flickers and swirls around Doxon. The dwarf de-materializes with a high-pitched sound, only to re-materialize within striking distance of the monster.
He wipes his brow and strides closer to the fray.
Dungeon Master S
Raen's fire, and now acid cauterize the neck before the new heads can form. Her admonition don't seem to have much effect though.
The starknife continues to dance and flit, but doesn't cut.
Vael makes use of his power to change the field of battle, moving pieces like on a chess board.
Round 3:
Raen: Acid
Doxon: Go
Vael: Shaman-fu
Hamilton: Go
Baddie: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Ushyle: TBD
Current Headcount: 4
Hydra body: 46
Doxon Greyforge
The world grows hazy for a brief second. As his vision clears, Doxon realizes he stands in easy reach of the multiheaded monster. The joy of battle fills him as he readies to strike.
Fervor - swift cast Divine Favor
Ha, ha! he bellows. Thanks, Vael! Torag has blessed me with mighty friends., as he brings Agrimmosh and his pick down on the hydra.
Agrimmosh: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Damage: 3d6 + 8 ⇒ (5, 3, 2) + 8 = 18
Pick: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Dungeon Master S
Both the Hammer and pick strike home, right on the hydra's chest. The hammer breaks the sternum, and the pick pierces the heart.
Not even a fabled hydra can withstand such damage. It collapses into the Ghostlight marsh!
For soundly defeating the hydra, each party member receives 200 XP.
Raen Varkath
Raen approaches cautiously to inspect the body. "That should... about do it. Well done Doxon."
"Where to?" She looks at Hamilton.
Vael Oakfist
Vael looks everyone over for cuts, scrapes, and bites. "Nobody hurt?"
Dungeon Master S
Recovered the party heads deeper into the marsh (likey after Whistle Pig takes a trophy.) The going gets better not long after and there's even a trail to follow that keeps everyone dry.
Not long after stopping for a meal, the party spies a plume of smoke that can only be a camp fire. Cautiously heading towards it, it looks like it's actually a hut!
Not combat, but map up for visualization purposes and planning Feel free to describe any exploration, include rolls.
Vael Oakfist
Standing in the middle of the party, the dead giant's spear in hand, Vael steps with caution. "That hut makes me nervous. Keep yer weapons at tha ready. This place has me teeth janglin'."
Knowing too that some threats can be magical in nature, Vael mumbles a quick chant and focuses his senses on finding magical auras.
Cast Detect Magic. He'll keep concentrating on the spell as they get closer to the hut, and will warn people if he picks up anything.
Dungeon Master S
Vael doesn't detect any magic, but as he scans the hut door opens...
and a dwarf walks out. She sees you all, and freezes like a deer in torchlight... waiting to see what you do.
Vael Oakfist
Vael immediately lets go of the spell, then calls out to the dwarf. "Hello thar, friend! I dinna think we'd see another soul out here."
He lowers his weapon to show he means no harm.
Dungeon Master S
"GAH! GAH! You're greenskins! GREEN! ORCS! Yer ORCS!" She grabs a dwarven war axe and ooks like she's going to charge!
She's mentally ill, cursed, or enchanted.
Dwarf: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Raen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Ushyle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Vael: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Whistle Pig: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Doxon: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Hamilton: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Dungeon Master S
Round 1:
Vael: Go
Raen: Go
Hamilton: Go
Ushyle: Go
Doxon: Go
Whiste Pig: Go
Dwarf: TBD
Vael Oakfist
In Dwarven, Vael says, "We're no orcs! We're from Trunau, only recently repelling orc raiders. The half-orc with us is a good one!"
He remains non-threatening, putting his hands up to make peace and dropping his weapon.
Vael Oakfist
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Dungeon Master S
Vael tries to calm the dwarf woman down, but she screams. It's a rambling chunk of incomplete sentences about greenskins.
Round 1:
Vael: Diplomacy
Raen: Go
Hamilton: Go
Ushyle: Go
Doxon: Go
Whiste Pig: Go
Dwarf: TBD
Vael Oakfist
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Vael Oakfist
"Dinna hurt her! She's nae well, and it might be magical in nature."
Ushyle
Ushyle moves forward. You are so quick to judge by skin rather than actions, he says, dropping his greataxe at his feet after the advance. Yet you see the actions of one who has no desire to hurt you. And I speak for all my companions when I say this. He has his palms raised before him as he speaks
Diplomacy aid: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19 Noice.
BTW, Ushyle is still considered armed due to Improved Unarmed Strike.
Hamilton Renaud
Unless Raen does something... Enchanting... Then Hamilton will draw his sword on reflex and parry her blows. He'll return strikes with the flat of the blade or pommel, hoping to knock her out rather than injure her.
Longsword (Non-Lethal):1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Subdual Damage on Hit:1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Dungeon Master S
Ushyle's attempt at helping sounded good, but it seems to have made matters MUCH worse as she hefts her axe to kill you all.
Hamilton raises his sword, but you can see that he's twisted his grip to aim with the flat which carries a -4 to attack
Round 1:
Vael: Diplomacy
Raen: Go
Hamilton: Ready
Ushyle: Diplomacy
Doxon: Go
Whiste Pig: Go
Dwarf: TBD
Doxon Greyforge
Doxon approaches, crossing the bridge with both his hands out in front of him, palms up, in as non-threatening a manner as he can muster.
Raen Varkath
Raen's frown turns to outright alarm when the dwarf pulls the axe. She lunges for Ushyle, who disappears.
Cast Invisibility on Ushyle.
Dungeon Master S
Ushyle vanishes from sight calming the dwarf a bit.. though that's still not saying much.
Round 1:
Vael: Diplomacy
Raen: Invis
Hamilton: Ready
Ushyle: Diplomacy
Doxon: Nonthreatening advance
Whiste Pig: Go
Dwarf: TBD
Dungeon Master S
Despite Whistle Pig trying his best to add to it, the woman seems too far gone. She gives a dwarven war cry "DEATH TO ALL ORCS!" and charges straight at Doxon.
Charge: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 2 = 13 but swings wide. Her eyes are far too... open.
Round 2:
Vael: Go
Raen: Go
Hamilton: Go
Ushyle: Go
Doxon: Go
Whiste Pig: Go
Dwarf: TBD
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 1d100 ⇒ 8
Vael Oakfist
"Let me try somethin'" Vael calls out. He mutters a chant, and a twisting pattern of colours appears around her.
Hypnotic Pattern. DC 16 Will save or become fascinated.
Doxon Greyforge
Seeing the dwarven woman clearly not in her right mind, Doxon approaches her and hopes to placate her with the teachings of Torag. He easily steps to the side of her wild swing and places a hand on her shoulder, saying aloud,
"Let the words of the Father guide you back to us. From his book, Hammer and Tongs: All difficulties can be reforged into triumphs. Meet strife with humility and acceptance. Let adversity temper the ingot of your will and you will never shatter.
Doxon casts Protection from Evil, which should give her a new saving throw for whatever might be afflicting her mind with a +2 bonus.
Dungeon Master S
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 She pulls up her axe and begins to stare at the pretty colors.
Doxon's spell washes over her, but doesn't seem to have an effect. The warpriest concludes that her condition is not a result of mental control, but some curse may not be outside the realm of possibility.
Round 2:
Vael: Hypnotic Pattern
Raen: Go
Hamilton: Go
Ushyle: Go
Doxon: Pro f. E.
Whistle Pig: Go
Dwarf: TBD
Vael Oakfist
"I ken keep this goin'. Check maybe thar's somethin' inside tha hut that ken help her?"
Dungeon Master S
If Vael plans on keeping this up, then we can "pause the initiative" while the party does stuff. I would rule that restraining her would break the spell.
Whistle Pig
|
WP will go around the dazed dwarf and search the hut. first for traps and then for anything interesting that might tell us why the dwarf is the way she is.
taking ten on both searches for a 19
Dungeon Master S
Whistle Pig enters the hut. It looks like it's home for a pair of dwarves, though there is no sign of any other right now.
It looks like a simple home, though there is equipment that leads the halfling to believe the inhabitants know their way around an expedition or adventure. Of note are a pair of potions and a compound shortbow of masterwork quality.
Dungeon Master S
I say yes, whatever the rules say.
I will say that if you don't succeed, she'll be mighty upset.
Raen Varkath
Raen follows the halfling and gives the magical items a look over. Something might be useful.
Spellcraft take 10 for 23.
Dungeon Master S
Indeed Inside the house Raen notes that the potions are a potion of cure moderate wounds and a potion of remove curse...
Vael Oakfist
Well isn't that just the height of convenience...
Dungeon Master S
It helps when you can neutralize the threat and have someone in reserve to search. Now you just have to get her to drink it...
Whistle Pig
|
WP whispers to Raen, " if I can sneak up on her with a rope, do you think you can get her to drink that potion?
Raen, being quick on the uptakes know she may not be able to but Doxon and Ham surely could...
With a knowing look the halfling and the illusionist get the other two's attention.
WP sneaks up behind the Dwarf, and...
stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
gets the drop on the fascinated dwarf!
now get her to drink it!
grapple: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
"A bit of help here?!?! WP yells as he wrestles with the tied p dwarf.
Dungeon Master S
Whiste Pig tries to wrap her up quickly but the motion breaks the spell, and she screams!
Dwarf: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Raen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Ushyle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Vael: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Whistle Pig: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Doxon: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Hamilton: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Raen Varkath
"You couldn't have just sling-shotted it into her mouth?" Raen asks dryly, handing the tiny vial to one of the armored gents. "Here. I'm not getting near those gnashing teeth with my precious fingers."
Dungeon Master S
Round 1:
Raen: Go
Dwarf: TBD
Hamilton: TBD
Whistle Pig: TBD
Ushyle: TBD
Doxon: TBD
Vael: TBD
Raen Varkath
We ninja'd each other there, GM.
Plumb out of useful ideas, Raen resorts to further disorienting the dwarf with a ray of sunlight to the eyes.
Touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Blind for 1 round if 4 HD or less, dazzled otherwise. I have finally broken my terrible dice run!
Dungeon Master S
Raen's ray of light dazzles the dwarf as she Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 turns and swings her axe at Whistle Pig!
ATK 1: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 1 = 28 THREAT
CONFIRM: 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 9 - 1 = 17 DMG: 3d10 + 12 ⇒ (4, 8, 5) + 12 = 29
"DEATH! TO ORCS!" she shouts as she neary kills the halfling in a singe swing! She then turns on Doxon, looking at her fellow dwarf ike he's aslo an orc
