"We should return that to the owner with the news that their dog has been slain by these monsters", he says with a sigh of regret. "I wonder what else we might find here. It is said that there are lands beneath the ground where the sun don't reach, ever. And if an earthquake finally opened this place up, maybe something else has come as well?"

"You might be right, Sir Loren. Can we entrust you with keeping tabs on said escape route?"
"Certainly. I have some chalk that we can mark our way. So, where shall we go now? I think we should attempt to find out way to the top."

You all gather around the door as you attempt to open it. With a loud creak you manage to open it only slightly. By the feel of it, there is a lot of rubble on the other side. The light from the coin illuminates enough for you to see the contents of the room.
A cylindric staircase stands in the middle. Rubble decorates just about every inch of each step, as well as majority of the floor, and a large chunk of the building appears to be stuck where the first and second floor cross.

"Well, it seems we are not ment to go this way. We will need to find anotherway to go up, unless someone feels the need to clear this stair and risk further cave in."
I will go ahead and write in common on the door that this way is completely caved in, and draw (poorly) a upwards spiral, to show the staircase.
What other directions have we seen so far that we might climb up this tower?
I'll also look around the rubble for a small piece of the Fortress wall, looking for a small smoother piece to take with me as a memento, adding it t a small collection in my pouch. Just something that catches my eye as interesting. :)

"Well, it looks like the entire room has colapsed, so even getting through the door will not help us progress.", or am I misunderstanding about the latter?
This is why you always bring explosives! >.> What?! *runs off back to lurking*
Not long ago there was a thread about pushing Alchemists down the stairs for just this sort of thing. . .:)

"It is very possible that the damage to th upper floors has cut off access to all of the stairs going up or down. If there are spiders here, it is possible that they have nested by the entrance because there hasn't been any traffic past that point. I think we should check the other rooms, but will likely have to go outside to scale the wall. A feat I am not an expert in. . ."
I am going to take out my map while others continue to check this room just to see if there are any notes that might help, but otherwise I am ready to go when everyone else is.
Is everyone still playing?

Godwin, the only door is the one with the broken stairway and numerous rubble. Will retcon your action as peering through the door with Anath, if that's okay.
Through the doorway you see rubble. Every foot seems to contain rubble, to the point where entering would be close to impossible.
The only way up seems to be up the walls.

I may be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure it up the walls back outside. We can still explore inside, I believe, but this specific room we can not progress into. There should be other areas still on this level to see.

Partially correct. The only way up is up the walls on the outside - the three rooms you've seen/been into are the only rooms available.

As you get back outside, the cool air greets you; inside, it was a lot more pungent than you imagined. The torn-up walls here seem a lot easier to climb than the masterfully craftsmanship that consists of the rest of the tower. This is also the only place that appears damaged.
Will need a climb check if you want to get up.

Godwin attempts to climb up the wall again, and reaches the second floor without any incident.
On top of the second floor, Godwin finds that the drop down is a lot steeper than it looks. Two doors decorate the walls, one to the north-west and one to the north-east. On the wall are torch holders, sturdy bits of metal that have been planted into the wall.

I just found out I am deploying a lot quicker than I had believed. Within the next few days I may not be abe to continue this game, though I will try. If I do vanish, feel free to continue with my character as an NPC.
I will take the rope and attempt to climb it as well.

I'll try to reach down and help hoist Anath up, if I can.
Don't worry about it DM. Play by Posts are always fairly difficult to run unless there are a lot of players or everyone has a time frame. Most are a little more character driven, too, so it's not your fault. I'm enjoying it, and appriciate the work you put ino running it, too.

I apologise for my slow pace, the summer heat is hitting hard in Norway and it is making me drowsy. Since jlighter absolutely vanished I am afraid I will eject him from this adventure - and since Will is absent for two weeks (though with notice) he will not be considered in fights unless he posts himself. As such, you are now 3 and I will adjust the encounters accordingly.
1d100 ⇒ 13
Anath climbs up without problems thanks to the rope, and moves up close to Godwin; while Godwin finds no semblance of traps on the crude door, he does find that it is locked - and that the keyhole has been mangled beyond repair. It also seems to require some force to be pushed open.

Well, gentlemen, this is probably it for me. I want to thank everyone for my last game before I leave, and if I am able to continue it once I leave, I will. I appricite the work you put into running it, and am sad I can may not be able to finish it.
