Eidolon question

Rules Questions

OK, so I have a bipedal eidolon, and it's been running along with the 2 claw attacks so far and that's worked OK. I've just hit 5th level and I'm considering adding the slam attack. Will this still act as a primiary attack at my main attack bonus, or does it become a secondary attack at a lesser bonus?

Slam (Ex): An eidolon can deliver a devastating slam attack. This attack is a primary attack.

The section on Natural Attacks in the Universal Monster Rules (and Table: Natural Attacks by Size) clarifies that, unless specified otherwise, certain attacks are always primary or secondary.

-edit-
Remember to put your Claws on his legs, to leave his arms free for the Slam. Slam requires arms evolution, while Claws can go on legs (once).

It is possible to assume the slam is a backhand? I really don't want the eidolon doing claw attacks with the feet. It would really defeat the shtick of the character.

If it's not possible, I'll find another option.

Not really, Slam requires arms. You can replace the default Claws with the Slam, move Claws to legs, or buy more arms.

Buying more arms was going to be my suggestion as well.

You could also consider talking the evolution spells that give you points in the moment to customize your eidilon for the situation. That way you have a little more wiggle room with your points at creation.

Oh well, then I'll skip slam. It just won't suit the character.

The idea of the summoner is that it's a crazy lady who couldn't have kids who made the eidolon her little girl. Thus the eidolon has to have at least a passing resemblance to a little girl. I'm trying to optimize within those constraints (which does prevent some optimization obviously).

Perhaps her summer dress hides her tentacles, most of the time. Or the delicate blond hairs (and pretty pink bows) make most people think her horns are simply pigtails?

Twisted thought, but I think I'll stick to my simpler plan. I'm pretty much going to be limited to claws and maybe a bite. I guess I'll just do the improved damage claws evolution. Eventually I'll probably add energy damage.

Or the pigtails are the tentacles...

Mechanics and flavor can be separated. You can have your slam attack on the arms and the claws on the feet mechanically while flavoring the claws to be on the arms and the slam to be a backhand. Almost any DM would be okay with you role-playing the claws as hand-claws given that it gives you no game advantage.

This would give you 4 primary attacks if you took a bite as well, which would make energy attacks very worthwhile for damage output (improved damage on claws not so much - 1D3 to 1D4 is an increase of 0.5 damage on average on only 2 attacks). If you get lucky and hit with everything, 35 damage could be about average for a reasonably optimized small biped.

Actually I didn't make the biped small, I wasn't that willing to self gimp. The 'little girl' kind of looks like a female dwarf adult, but dressed in a little girl's dress with pigtails and ribbons and such. It serves its purpose of creeping out most PFS tables I play at.
