This is my first post to a board ever so please be cool if I posted this in the wrong section. I am playing a level 7 rogue and am thinking of taking leadership at level 8 to try and maximize my sneak attack opportunities. I am thinking flanking pawn for my cohort. I was thinking either Monk, Bard, or Fighter. Our party currently consists of Rogue, Wizard, Cleric, and Ranger. Any ideas as to what class I should take would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

First, don't you need to wait till 9th to get the Feat?
Second, go Bard. He can not only Flank with you, but cast various buff spells and effects on you and others: Haste, and Bard Song are a hell of a round one, and fully available to a seventh level Bard. Also, he can serve as a backup healer, and that's always handy.
All that, and he can be good at Melee, too (high Strength + two handed weapon + Power Attack + Arcane Strike + buff spells is really good). Go Half-Orc or Half Elf with Ancestral Arms for maximum weaponry coolness.

Just a little snip here; leadership is available at 7th level.

I'm going to bo against the grain here. As you already have a fairly balanced party, I think your best bet for a cohort is another Rogue. Since he or she is going to be your 'flank buddy', you can do the same job for the cohort, and spread the sneak attacky goodness all over the place. In this case you realy want a mobility spec'd Rogue, to make sure that (s)he is able to get into position well.
Depending on how much control you have over the build of the cohort, you can try to make sure they cover any skill holes you have, with just enough in your skills to reliably provide an Aid Another bonus for skills like Disable Device.

I would recomend a summoner, spec'd out with the gang up feat, and spec his eidolon with the same. This gives you 2 flanking partners, as well as a caster that can buff you both, with limited healing and battlefield control.
Working in the same vein, a fighter with the sword and board alternate track. Give him gang up, as well, and make your next lowest a fighter, barbarian, or ranger (for the hit die), also with gang up. The particular fighter progression I'm thinking of has an ability that allows him to make attack rolls to aid another in combat, either adding to an adjacent allies ac or taking the enemies attack for himself.
With either of these options you can get flanking constantly, regardless of whether you can get around the enemy or not.

Given your group, Fighter all the way. It will take the pressure off everybody else in the front line, and being 2 levels behind the PCs isn't as big a deal for a Fighter as it might be for a Bard (or any spellcaster, really), or even a Monk.
