Greetings all!
I've played in a few PbP and normally do tabletop. I'm looking to start up my homebrew campaign here as a PbP depending on interest in it.
It will be run with PRPG rules with minor tweeks. All tweeks will be annotated.
There are few languages that are added (because they are unique to my realm) and I will post them.
I would like 4-6 players. Two spots are reserved. One is my wife who is new to PbP and the other to another poster here. (LostSoul)
There are certain limitations however. No EVIL pc's. I'm still torn on stat creation, wether to do point buy or use the BBC roller here. I'm open to thoughts/suggestions on this. This will be my FIRST PbP campaign. If there is enough interest I'm looking to start it in about two weeks time frame possibly three. I will be on some vaca time March 14-18 which will give me a great amount of time to focus on this and clear up any issues that haven't been resolved before then.
I do use my own homebrew deities and will be using certain demihuman deities. Finishing up their conversions now.
Spoiler is the history, well a history that would be somewhat general knowledge for the PC's.
My Liege,
In response to your request of the history of our realm I’ve comprised several of my notes I have taken. I have chosen not to speculate on too much ‘empty’ space as I have yet to find a complete recording. I have scoured the lands ruins, as many as I could find, and spoken to many sages of times past. I do apologize for its incompleteness I am striving to correct and fill the gaps. I have also chosen to stay away from many of the religious injections into the history accept when it was the only history to go by. Most of the various races have their own religious views on how they came to be and on how we all came to be on this land. I shall leave that argument for those more spiritual than I.
The first age of our realm has been recorded down as the Time of False Gods. It is in this erra that we all worshipped Dragons (this I believe to be in error as this is the only mention of such beasts and I’ve only had one sage theorize this belief). Few worshipped and were granted great abilities by the land itself. In my discoveries of those fables and historical beliefs I feel this is the first sign of Druidism. All of the ‘great’ abilities described seem to be in equal proportion to those rumored to be possessed today of that sect. Now on the factual part of this time I am unable to uncover anything from ruins or scribed into stone. All of this is from several sages and what I’ve included is the most agreed upon assumption. I could not however get any druid to converse with me about the history of their belief.
The second age has been recorded down as the Time of Faith. Now most of the information here comes from the religious side though I have encountered numerous ruins that confirm this. In its main point the Gods where well known to the world and worshipped as such. This is actually where most recorded time began. From what I can tell this period lasted for just around 1,000 years, at its downfall was some sort of God War. The religious historians end this period with that and began a new time line with the war.
So now we are in our third age the God War. All of the religious texts talk about fighting on the prime material plane as they call it and in the god planes. It is said during this time many ancient gods where vanquished and some new ones, lesser ones, came to great power. Also during this time with the Gods absence many races began to fight one another and themselves. So this would be the point in our history where are fellow races begun fighting amongst themselves. The Elves are extremely secretive about this point in history and all I could gather from them was that it was a great time of sadness. The Dwarves were more forthcoming, they told me of how at the time there was only one Clan and all the dwarves were ruled by one King, they went on to tell me that from this period the dwarves separated and a multitude of clans arouse. Many had the same purpose as when they were unified, but some ventured towards darker aspects. Some dwarven historians belief there are ‘pure’ dwarves still those that are still directly tied to the first clan and that someday one of those dwarfs we reunite the clans.
Also during this same period the Minotaur race as we have come to know them was separated. Apparently they walked as men and in peace, but it was when a part of the God War struck the prime material plane some of their kin were embraced the more beastial side. Apparently this was a direct affront to their gods and this is when they split. Their historians have told me that the clear sign to those that are cursed are the beastial feet. Of course I have learned this the hard way, a mistake I have never made again.
Now at the end of the God War we see the first findings of some our smaller friends. Namely the Gnomes and Halflings, apparently the gnomes had been living alongside the the elves in their woods for sometime without even them knowing. I’m not sure what exactly happened, because it once again the elves where not free coming with any information here nor could I keep a gnome on subject long enough to get this, though what I have gathered is their god war/race war ended with the arrival of the gnomes. So I am assuming the gnomes helped them at some pivotal moment. The Halflings tie in much the same way except to the Minotaur’s. When the Minotaur fled the god warred land, those that remained faithful to their gods, they came across many races and apparently the first kindly race to greet them was the Halflings. Now I’m not sure how this all took place, but I’ve be witness to many a mistake by some and with that I offer only one piece of advice: Insult not a Halfling when a Minotaur is in the room.
This brings us to the fourth age the Time of Affirmation. In this age many races began their various advancements. Either it is mankind erecting its great cities, roadways and such. The Minotaur’s mastering the seas, the Halflings perfecting their ales, the elves stepping from the woodlands and the dwarves opening their doors to the surface. It is rumored, as always is, that many great heroes arose here and fell, great evils befell the land some vanquished some only silenced. But this is our most recent part of history. This part has ended with the building of the Pathfinder Society which has brought us into our current age…the age of Revelations.
In closing I will be crossing into Stygia in the next ten day and feel that much of our history can be garnered from those ancient lands. To many ruins I’ve come across point to those lands or the desert lands south of it. I will inform you when I know more and more precisely when I have stronger facts.
Forever your servant,
Senoir Pathfinder Praxtinn
Hoping for good things! :D

"Sunny" |

Hello.
Putting my hand up.
As it is 'Legacy of Fire an aquatic Elf, even one as 'adapted to land' as I can make it, might not be such a good idea. =)
I would suggest a point buy, but I have seen an interesting point buy system as some one's 'home style' arraignment. Shall find it and link to it when I can.
Which paizo books shall you use? What 'power' level of character are you looking for?
Looking forwards to your replies/comments.
Much cheers to you and yours.

DM Azoun |

"Sunny" will need some serious changes. First off i'm sorry to say buy no Aqautic Elves. Reason is I have not introduced them yet, once they have been introduced you will be fine to play one. But not at the onset of this.
More clarifications:
Nothing being tested will be allowed. (i.e. No Ninja, Gunslinger, etc)
I will be starting everyone off at 2nd lvl...more to come on starting wealth.
Minotaurs will be a playable race as you can see in the intial post. Once I get home to my computer I will post up their racial adjustments incase any are interested in playing such.

, |
Sunny poster here.
*Laughs* That's okay.
No, I was more asking about a guide line for which current books you will use. APG? Qadira Setting Guide book? Core Rule Book? Bestiary 1? bestiary 2?
Having PbP'd along side LostSoul (I think, do they remember Xane) I look forward to joining in the fun. =)
Much cheers to you and yours.

I'd be interested--I've got an elf cavalier (order of the lion) that I've been wanting to play, seems like it would fit fairly well. He's statted up as a courtier of sorts; variety of diplomatic skills, fairly balanced stats so that he can fight as range or up close.
Alternatively, I've got this idea for a dwarf 'earthshaper'--a mining summoner with an elemental-like eidolon. Carries a heavy pick, focuses on spells which are directly relevant to mining (would be interested in seeing if I could get a few spells added to the spell list for this character, such as expeditious excavation).
I've got preliminary stats for both, if you'd like to see, though they're 1st level and 15 point buy. I like the 15 point buy, but I think most people would probably prefer 20.

Either of those concepts would work out well! I've personnally always been a fan of cavaliers from way back in the day.
Love dwarves too! Though I will already veto adding spells that aren't on the spell list for the class. Sorry. I don't really want to get too into 'house' ruling things here on PbP. I'd rather stick to what is written to make things easier on everyone involved. :D

Great! I just finished up a rough copy of the cavalier character (this alias), if you want to take a look.
Backstory is fairly setting-specific (so I'll wait on more information); the idea is he's a courtier in the court of a major elven noble, who's frequently sent out for negotiation, intelligence gathering, scouting missions--a little bit of everything. The game starts with him being assigned to investigate a certain area or the like (whatever works for you).

DM Azoun |

Interested here!
Here's a basic character concept for your perusal. He's a traveling merchant who has spent all of his adult life on the road. He's stumbled into discovering a magical talent and has taken it as an opportunity to take his travels a step further.
Ok, I love this guy! Really I do, I love backstory (though I will edit some, give location and a little more realm specific info) and how easy it will be to place him into the campaign!
If you want the spot Ardil you definitely have one. Of course that is you liking the editing I do to your backstory. :D
I'll work on that here in the next few days.

Work it any way you need to fit it into the backstory. I'll keep an eye on this thread for further instructions!

I've the perfect Kingdom for you on this. "The Elf Kingdom". It is mainly woodland and is near two minor confrontation zones. The elves in the kingdom would be closer to the classic Sylvan Elf/Wood Elf. They pretty much dislike non-elves though some are tasked with dealing with those other races in peaceful tones in the name of the Kingdom. The capital city itself is located deep in the woods and is only known to few within the kingdom. They have one major city, Kelsinko, that also has a small port town two days travel away with the same name. This is where they entertain ambassadors and visitors from other lands. More namely the other races.

** spoiler omitted **...
I have a few great characters I've been waiting to play. I too have a summoner that is a gnome tinkerer. He wears heavy armor and a construct like eidolon. He's part of a band of mercenaries that explore the bottom of the oceans for treasure and on contract. The eidelon and the gnome can breathe water (gnome via spell)
Since we might have a summoner, I'd love to roll a "professor." Basically a bard that will prestige class into Loremaster. He can be one of your historians if you like or an intellectual from one of the world's colleges or governments. I'll spin him however you like.
On the less lawful side. I'd love to roll a rogue/spy. His story is also flexible. I imagine him as a trafficker in information or agent from a local guild of secretive ranger types that handles all of their "urban affairs."

That sounds perfect--very similar to Kyonin, actually, which is where I first conceptualized this character. Aeldris could be one of those unfortunate ones tasked with peaceful interactions.

MuadQuim:
First i'm sorry to say but the Gnome Tinkerer is out. I personnally never liked them (the tinker gnome that is) and specifically left them out of my homebrew. I also don't allow any of the technological advances...like gunpowder. Never liked how a musket was a weapon in the book. Just didn't like to mix that with my fantasy. So i'm sorry about that.
Second there is nothing wrong with the scholarly type, nothing at all. As from the spoiler i've added the "Pathfinder Society" to my realm. I really like the aspect of it as a way to get characters to adventure and uncover the pasts secrets. :D I actually have a location with such a grand library! :D
Third there's nothing wrong with rogues. Any dungeon crawl can use a good trap finder. ;D And without one every group then needs a good healer. :D

Oh fantastic! Well I was trying to be flexible. Btw, the rogue would be more of a roleplaying type guy than a backstabber. I wanted someone who could use all of the dark arts of subterfuge and diplomacy to achieve his goals. Think disguise checks, bluffs, sleight of hand poisons and bombs, and other more devious tricks that the enemy will not expect :)
As to the tinkerer I didnt mean per the class "tinkerer." He's an arcane caster whose cobbled together this construct-like monstrosity that he summons from the farthest points of the Planes. I figured this was not a technological campaign ;)
And you really seem to like the professor so I'll have to take a gander at the archetypes for bards in the apg ;)
Lemme know what happens

DM Azoun |

So then a Rogue or a Bard? Either sounds good.
I didn't mean to shoot down your summoner. Sorry if it came out that way. I just read it as the technological type 'with' magic as the actual technology.
Additional Info:
Starting lvl will be 2nd and starting wealth is 1,000 gold. When you spend the money I am asking for the cost breakdown. Aeldris and Ardel please adjust your characters to such.
Stats will be the 20pt method! :D You can start out with TWO traits.
Additional Languages in the Realm

You are from Minkrath Island, it is also its own Kingdom. Located just east of the Furpian Pennisula, home to the Seacoast Mtns, and just west of infamous Victorless Mtns. Minkrath island itself is very large, taking at least a weeks journey on horse back to complete the journey west to east. On the Northern end rests small mtn range mostly comprised of rocky hills. Most of the island is plains, tall grass, save for the rocky hills and the eastern side. The eastern side of the island is predominatly forest which also nestles alongside the rocky hills. Minkrath shares a great trade business with the Kingdom of Furp to it's west.
The Minkrath Kingdom is comprised of Seeg, Farkep, and Bristen. The islands predominant population is Human with small groups of Halflings, Dwarves, and Gnomes. Elves are rarely seen here if at all however there is a desent Half-Elven population surprisingly.
More to come and I hope that wet your appetite Ardel. :D

His symbol is a glowing gemstone; usually this is a finely cut gem of any type in which illusion spells have been cast to provide magical light. Sweet! Well, please take a look at Udaya and see if you think she might fit into your campaign well. If you don't eliminate her from immediate contention, I'll re-configure her to your 2nd level, 20 point buy, 1000GP build specs.
I've played her before so if you want to get a feel for her personality, check out her 'Recent Posts'. Thanks for considering her!

I can deal with her! Alter her, be sure to look at the dieties. (I am one of those DM's who sees Paladins gaining their abilities through their diety).
Also you are an Outsider, you need to decide if you are from the heavens or the prime. Yep you decide. If it's from the Heavens your backstory will be kinda short, but you will also have more insight to the purpose and happenings. Since you would be sent to the prime by your Diety.

Thnx for stopping in though and good luck finding a group with Psions!
I personnally enjoyed the class in 3.5, and loved it. I'm just hesitant to do anything with it till Paizo releases something for Pathfinder on Psionics.

Huh? Dreamscarred Press' Psionics Unleashed was specifically made for Pathfinder, it's 100% Pathfinder-compatible. I'm not saying this to change your mind, but if you haven't looked at the review page at least, you should. Psionics Unleashed is not perfect by any means, and I can understand why a lot of GMs don't want the hassle of fitting in the class and powers alongside the usual D&D.
Maybe in a year or two there will be enough people buying the PDF or book to work it into their games, PbP included.

MuadQuim |
So then a Rogue or a Bard? Either sounds good.
I didn't mean to shoot down your summoner. Sorry if it came out that way. I just read it as the technological type 'with' magic as the actual technology.

I think the Loremaster would be fun. (Assuming I am in) I will roll Professor Nathanial Lasch. He is going to be a human bard of the Archivist archetype from the APG, eventually taking the prestige class "Loremaster" from the core.
If its ok with you, I'm going to make him quite old (the second or last age template) and apply the stat adjustments accordingly. I know this will make him somewhat delicate but and old, smart, professor, tottering on about battle tactics and legends is just too good to resist!
I'll send you his stats and point buy shortly.

Sunny/',' presenting Crystal for the DM's perusal. *Curtsies*
If she looks okay, I shall adjust her to the games parameters. (^_^)
OK, i've only looked at some of this, don't have the Core in front of me and my work comp is picky about sites it will go to. (Glad it goes to this one!)
1. Diety has to change.
2. She is an Outsider, what is her native plane?
3. If she is going to be adopted by a Church/Faith, Is there something more to why that Church/Faith took her in. I mean i'm sure her nature was evident as a child when they changed her diapers.
Note: I'm not discouraging this concept in no way. I like it. But need to clarify some of this issues. ;D

Thank you for the breakdown.
Can you do one more thing for me? How much weight is he carrying, armor and all? I'm curious when I saw the Javelins, Chain, Shield and others and his 8 str. :D

DM Azoun |

Udaya still needs a diety being a Paladin.
I'm thinking right now i'm going to start you and the Professor knowing one another. In a fashion.
Yes that means the Professor is in :D
I'll post more about that this evening.
So lets' see:
Elven Cavalier
Human Sorcerer
Aasimer Paladin
Human Bard
Tiefling Bard
My wife will be working on submitting up her character by this weekend and i'm giving LostSoul till the end of next week.
Once the characters are cleared up here, i'll start the OOC thread for reference and further details. So lets look into the 14 of March for this game starting up. Perhaps sooner if LostSoul and my wife has their characters completed.
Note:
I also noticed we are Bard heavy, that's fine, it's up to you all if someone wants to alter. If not as I said that's fine.

Well...um...what do you know of the Golarion Church of Calistra?
They are Elven. Link
So...could that background be useful to you? Does your realm have a minor religion which is possibly similar?
Why do churches accept any foundling in fantasy setting? ;) Because they are good and would seek to teach the foundling the goodness of their ways?
As for 'Outsider', by Paizo guidelines that is 'technically' true. Asimar, Teifling, Suli, Genasi are all 'native outsiders'. This makes the prime material plane their 'native plane'.
Hope those clear things up a little. I shall adjust her up a level etc when time permits. *Curtsies*

If you want to go Elven, look at the post above with the Spoiler: Elven Dieties.
I understand the Outsider bit, however, I allow players the option. It can provide for some interesting backstories either way.
A benevolent church may do just that, however some would see the seed of evil and vanquish it. Would they be right? Well depends on the Dogma of Church. ;D

DM Azoun |

So...the Teifling foundling raised by some church is not pleasing, then?
Still...glad for the discourse and the glint of an acceptance into the game is more than pleasing to me. :)
Alright, from the Elven pantheon: Hanali or Labelas
From my own pantheon: Sunar, Marysta or Terial
I could see any of those accepting and raising a child as Crystal. Though if you went with Terial it would be more of a wandering 'father' who adopted/found her.
I'm all about disclosure and aim to make a fun experience for all involved. :D
