Sovereign Court 5/5

I attended Genghis-Con in Denver this weekend and was able to survive the Midnight Mauler Venture Captain Special as run by JP Chapleau our friendly neighborhood local VC. A good time was had by all.

Thanks JP.

Scarab Sages

I played the Midnight Mauler with JP as well and really enjoyed it. We had a difficult table and he was still able to make it into a fantastic adventure. Great job JP. Thanks!

This has been a hot ticket at the two cons I recently attended (Gamicon & BashCon) and expect the same in a few weeks (at Who's Yer Con). I enjoyed it thoroughly and recommend it to anyone who has the chance to play. I cannot wait to qualify to get the scenario so I can read all the back story and see what we did right/wrong and what we missed.

We played it there as well, and not only survived, but completely succeeded at the scenario! Going to spoiler this, even though it probably isn't necessary:

Spoiler:
For tier 6-7, we actually had a fairly easy time of it because we had a party of 5, where not a single character had lower than 19 Charisma. Bard, Oracle, Paladin, Channeling Cleric, and Sorcerer made a very, very nice team to go through this mod. About our only issue came with the chase, but it turned out alright.

I wholeheartedly recommend people playing this module when they can, as it's executed wonderfully.

It was memorable.

I am still aghast that my character, two levels below everybody else, a dwarf with a 10 DEX, wearing mail, was able to win the chase. And then everybody else arrived and just watched him, a dwarf with an 8 CHA, trying to talk [mublety-mumble] into changing its mind.

It was memorable!

My compliments to Crystal for another terrific adventure.

Plus I almost killed you by accident, Chris!

Um, yeah "accident" :-)

Thanks for the compliments, guys. It was fun to run and hurt you all!

It occurred to me afterwards that I was only grappled, not pinned, and I had a potion of cure moderate wounds, so I could have lasted a few rounds longer. But I'm glad I didn't think of that at the time. The image of the spell vanishing and the dwarf collapsing to the ground with little pink sucker-marks all over his body was just poetic.

I agree that it is a very fun scenario.

Spoiler:
I was surprised at the end of the chase that the two heavily armored fighters led the way, followed one round later by my heavily armored cleric (-4 armor check).

Btw, JP I loved your "transylvainian" accents for the NPCs.
