heck at last years gen con i ran LFR (hangs my head in shame) free gaming and got 2 newbies and 3 regulars at my table, it was a late night game and i wanted to give the newcommers a fun experience. unfortunatly my dice were hot that night so i fudged a bit of rolls in their favor much to the vetrens grins and giggles. then of course i had the new guys reroll some bad rolls by using my "i didnt see that rolled in front of me" much to their confusion and the vets saying take the cookie and kool aid while he offers it. I told them straight up its supposed to be fun and enjoy it . low level mods are realtivly easy and the curve gets steeper as much as you go. end of the story they all had a blast and we got 2 new happy players

I hate to cast disillusion on the "I ddint know who he was" post but its well known that the venture captains special can only be run by a venture captain and it was very obvious who all the GM's were under just by watching for a few minutes, and before you ask yes i was at the con, yes I was in orcsmashers game that he is referring to, and I dont feel the situation was reported without a heavy slant against the DM. Ive been killed by this DM at the last con and i still signed up for his games knowing he was running them and was happy about it. I didnt get to see the so called gloating by I have seen this DM in action and didnt see anything in that DM's style that would lead to gloating. Also I will say mr Brock is more than willing to help a player and I will attest that he did so for my poorly situated table at the shadow lodge.
let me add another thought, I have the distinction of being the only one to die at the atlanta comic con, yes it sucked especially since that was my first PFS charecter, was i mad at the gm...no its my fault for trying to heal the strikers. in the long run its chalked up to doo doo happens. I have a good idea which judge your referring to and im more than happy with her judging at the con and have already signed up for several sessions at the seige with her at the helm. I will agree the sessions ran a lil long and i brought that up there at the con and on the lodge forum without grieving at a certain person or persons. next time id bring it up to the coordinator at the site or if you feel mike isnt addressing your situation to your satisfaction talk to shane and im sure he will address it with mike...just my 2 cents
cant wait to play this series at a con in may, played the everwar series this month and dont understand the cake walk comments, but it sounds like greg upped the ante in this series especailly for a pug group that you tend to find at conventions unless you go into it with your home group. But im sure by the time this hits my table in may anything will be addressed by then
i remember playing 4E modules mainly because i played and said oh wow that magic item would be great on my other charecter and its a cake walk, but thats not the case in PFS, sure your getting better gold but the items your getting to choose slightly early in your PA arent really that great. Right now im sitting on a horde of gold and i cant spend it on what i want because my charecter isnt "old" enough. I really dont see the no replay especially for judges, wheres the incentive to run a module more than once? IMHO there isnt one. And in my area theres only a handfull of gamers that play PFS were soon to be running low on mods, so what do we do then play the mods that we can that come out monthly and have no reason to go to cons?
really enjoyed connooga the only bad thing was the temp was like godilocks and the 3 bears...first night too warm, second night too cold...not sure id call sunday just right tho lol. Gamewise id say the games ran a lil long i know personally i didnt get much of a break between games and with not much food choices playing 4 seesions was a bit much. Perhaps three combats in a higher level module might be a lil much to expect to finish in time
i had a problem this weekend with my taldor faction mission...it said get a dog beg borrow buy or steal one...i figured easy enough...id buy one but of course the scenario said for the gm you had to make an animal handling check so the beg borrow buy or steal was out the door. Also i noticed that the baron cant sign his name correctly he doesnt seem to like the letter "C"
cant wait to see what kind of cool gear this class gets...the water walking boots...the egg shell bombs and the breathing tube..reminds me of a story i read about a ninja who hid in the asian variation of the outhouse waiting for his target to come in for his buisness and thrusts the sword straight up killing his target then escaping thru the sluice undetected...like anyone wants to patrol their sewer
maybe im too used to specials from the other company....great xp a boon some good gold and a item choice. course if i had to put a gold value on what we faced id say we got gipped.....maybe a special pathfinder society magic medallion for our charecters to impress the new members and give them something to look foreward to, tho now im imagining it in about 5 years wearing all the items from the specials its gonnna look like pimp my adventurer |
