We're killing all the insects today!

Or at least a Swarm of ants and a nest of very dumb bumblebees.

Do not kill all the insects, they are an important part of the life cycle.

I would never kill all the insects, only the ones that impede my progress.

If it was honey bees I would have put a bit more effort into moving the colony.

As it is I'm glad no one was stung, as Crookshanks was the one that found it.

Not when you dig into their colony with a skid loader.

Besides, bees on the west coast are a LOT more relaxed than bees in the Midwest, I say that as someone who has extensive experience with both.

But they don't make honey unless you mod your world file so they be completely useless. And they sting the animals!

I still remember ripping open a paper wasp nest on the roof of my old studio, having the swarm come out and pretty much say, "Er, if you don't mind too much, could you please not do that?" and then return to their nest.

I quite literally ripped their nest open and nearly in half, and their reaction was to buzz around me until I moved at least 15' from the nest. Not a single sting.

I love bumblebees! And in a lot of places (like my house) they’re the only decent pollinators that come around.

I like all bees but not when they're stinging me, or trying to sting me.

At any rate, co-worker could only find ant spray in wee lil Dane so I did it the old fashioned way; Just digging it out and throwing it on the truck.

Turns out, the little bit of pink spray paint on the skid loader bucket was enough to distract them so I could dig it out without getting stung.

And now the high schoolers know I'm impervious to bees as well (really I just know to always have something that's bright pink or red nearby as a distraction ("Dude, why don't they try to sting you?!" "Because they're trying to hump the skid loader").

So, I tried sneaking up on this guy with my shovel and he sees me, pretty much right away, so I press what I assume is the beating him in the face button (despite being at least ten feet away) but I apparently pressed the throw the shovel like I'm a twit button instead because there i was throwing my shovel at him like a twit! Luckily, he was equally inept because the idiot didn't have his gun ready, so I did the only thing I could think of, I ran up and beat him to death with my bare fists.

And that's why the kids can't watch me play Far Cry 5 anymore.

Co-worker: Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.. and that's what I want to get done today!

I probably should have listened, but it's already after lunch time and ninety degrees with 100% humidity.

The impii were playing co-op and chasing down one of the bad guys in a plane chase. The guy jumped out and started parachuting to the ground. So Impus Minor jumped out of the plane that Impus Major was piloting and, while in freefall, threw a shovel and cut the guy's parachute, making him plummet to the ground and die.

In other news, I went to give blood today, in a tiny little place halfway between nowhere and Bradford. I didn't book a taxi for the journey back, which makes me the fool, since it meant I had to walk for around half an hour afterwards before I found a bus going the right way, all after losing around a pint of my precious bodily fluids.

Survived the first day of term. The school hired more custodians to come around and sanitize things frequently, and gave each child two masks, and sent videos out to the families a week ago on how to show their children to wear their masks and what the new health and safety protocols were for drop-off. So it went pretty well, all things considered. I'm still scared, but I can do this.

And the mom of the two little girls who are quarantined at home because both parents got Covid emailed me asking if I could make a little classroom tour video for them because they're feeling sad they can't go to school yet, so I shot one at the end of the day and emailed it, and she was happy. (I feel like they can ask for just about anything from me right now, Dad's a firefighter and got it at work, and then Mom got it from him. The girls are asymptomatic so far.)

TPM wasn't a Disney thing. The new trilogy is, and they've shown nothing but a willingness to completely ditch any prior plans and toss the baby out with the bathwater with regards to anything that gets less than stellar response. With the near universal response to the sequel trilogy being meh to disliked to outright hated, it doesn't surprise me at all that Disney would consider scrapping the whole lot and starting over.

I tried watching the new movies, they were pretty boring so I didn't get much further than trying (I got most of the way through The Force Awakens guessed the ending and gave up, watched fifteen minutes of the second and gave up on that one before my brain could absorb anything)..

How to freak out the high schoolers working with you EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Wait until you're about half way through demolition, look around, shut off your mini bobcat and say "Uh, I hope this is the right place.." as you walk to the truck.

You'd think they'd learn after two years. :-D

Watched the second half of Hamilton, and it was definitely superior to the first half, all the way up to "perfectly watchable".

And yes, LM. Eliza had me sobbing like a baby. I know you knew she would.

When Gothbard and I saw it in SF, the actor who played Hamilton was better and edgier. No one can touch Odom or Diggs, though.

And, yes, when WW and I watched it last night (and,NH, he didn't say a single negative or snarky thing!), I cried again, too.

He did, however, give me the stinkeye a few times because I was singing along a little too loudly.

Which made me think, "Gee, I probably owe Gothbard an apology..."

Eliza's whole purpose in the show. Philippa Soo is so good.
