At least they kept Reagan's Alzheimer's under wraps and didn't let him wander out to the podium at that point in his life (yes, he should have been removed via 25th Amendment too).
I just got done putting together an EdPuzzle over Iran-Contra.
Between that class and current events, I've been going through a lot of paper bags for screaming purposes for work.

So I just started using Spotify the other day. Still filling out artists and such as I bother to remember them.
Today I noticed the release radar option, which appears to pick a random artist you've liked to demonstrate "click here to be notified when your artists upload new things!" Which makes sense; they've done the same for suggested playlists.
It's less effective, however, when the randomly chosen artist is Frank Sinatra, who's been a little 6' under the weather for about 20 years.
But man, the potential for undead-themed big band bops.
Fly Me to the Tomb

as a very small child during that time, I remember thinking something was very wrong with the scenario being presented.
I know you arenr the biggest Family Guy et all fan, but American Dad in particular ROASTS that situation with a HILARIOUS schoolhouse rockesque number.
Please check it out if you havent already. And know that EVERY word in it is completely true which is incredibly depressing.

Our trailer for work, we left it at the job site (with booby traps) so we don't have to haul it back every day.

TL:DR - nobody ever changes their minds, and those who agree already agree, so what's the actual, practical purpose of political debate?
So, in my personal opinion/memory, it hasn't always been that way.
The Iran-Contra scandal was the first time I saw what I felt was really, really wrong: Here was a man who had sold U.S. weaponry to an enemy of the United States. This is usually considered treason. And yet there were many who called him a hero. And they were the first block of people I'd ever encountered who wouldn't even listen. Amusingly enough, pro-life and pro-choice advocates were less fanatical than Oliver North's supporters. It revealed a really ugly underbelly to American politics. Until then, it was all about pork: "Hey, Senator xxx! If you vote in favor of my proposal, I'll add a $300 million bridge project in your district!" "Deal!"
Then along came Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America" in 1994, where he pretty much openly said, "The good of the country doesn't matter any more. It's my way or the highway. The Republican party will forevermore vote as a single bloc."
At that point, compromise vanished. You can sway one senator with pork. You can't sway 45.
And in my view, that's precisely when political debate vanished and was replaced by political tirades: Gingrich's entire approach of, "We will vote as a bloc, and we will never change our minds."

thank younger your input, especially as a...more experienced...person at the time it was going on. I was a true kid at the time and as said before, I thought this was clearly wrong, but wanted more information on the subject(which thanks to paper shredders, never happened).

So given... Everything... going on, Scint and I have moved up our timetable. My last day of work will be May 8, and I'll be leaving for Kansas some time that weekend, depending on how long it takes to get the car packed.
you're making the right decision.
Is there anything either of you need?

as you are one half of this relationship, the leadership is both competent and uncompromising. If short.

I'm a few years away from being constitutionally permissible to be the type of leadership I mean, and Orthos won't do it.

I know there's some risk involved in that kind of decision, but it really does seem like the best option right now.
And echoing Freehold. I don't know what route you're taking across, but if you need anything, let me know.

Yes, facts and lies are both political. That said, dammed if I'm gonna call fritzy.
The Vagrant Erudite wrote:TL:DR - nobody ever changes their minds, and those who agree already agree, so what's the actual, practical purpose of political debate? This question is a favorite of mine. Are you familiar with the Enlightenment idea of reason and debate?
Nope. I could probably Google it.
The very few people who are open minded enough to change their mind tend to do their own research anyway, and thus you're usually telling people things they either already know or obstinately don't care about.
But then I'm a cynical bastard who assumes the worst of people...not because it is in my nature, but because over almost 40 years it's been forced upon me through experiencing intetaction with humanity. I used to be an optimist, but I kept being proven wrong.
As far as I can tell, the only people open minded and ignorant enough to benefit from debate are minors, who usually parrot their family opinions anyway, with exceedingly rare exceptions like Orthos, who are as scarce as liveborn snakes.

Its why I'm calling it a sacrifise. I expect to ingest enough fake tan chemicals to kill me twice over alone.

LOLOL. Pretty much the opposite of me and Fallout 76.
So... some people would LOVE a game with hundreds of things to pick up, thousands of crafting recipes, a giant open world where you can do anything you feel like, no tutorials to get in the way of the experience, and a punitive item weight system forcing you to make hard choices as to what to drop and what's probably more valuable as a crafting item.
Me? I hate such games because my time is so limited; I don't want to spend time solving crafting puzzles.
But Shiro and Lara Croft guy love the game, and Shiro's time is even more limited than mine, so I sit there every night, bored stupid, figuring I'm probably doing the right thing but wondering for all I'm worth what the heck the point of the game is.
Ah, well. At least it's good karma.

And my final complaint of the day ("*Gasp!* This early?!?!? Are you sick Papa NobodysHome!?!?"): False hopes.
We ordered a new vacuum cleaner. We got the notification, "Your item has shipped! Here's the tracking number! Expect it on the 24th!"
So... that was on the 16th.
Day after day after day, I checked that stupid tracking number. Day after day after day, the tracking status was, "Shipping label has been created. The status will be updated when shipment begins to travel."
Yesterday I got an email: "Good news! Your package is arriving today!"
I checked the status. Still nothing but the label.
This morning I got an email. "Your package is running late. Expect it the 24th-29th."
This afternoon the status at FedEx is still, "Shipping label has been created."
So... I can understand printing the shipping label early. But it's been 8 days and you haven't actually gotten the product to FedEx yet. So maybe, just maybe, you should STOP SENDING ME UPDATES UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY SHIP THE PRODUCT!!!!

Oh, but Impus Major DID find a *fantastic* meme that, as far as I can tell, is real. (A Google search on the phrase revealed the same photo from multiple news outlets.)
The meme: A protester dressed in the Stars and Stripes proudly holding up a sign reading, "Social Distancing = Communism"...
...juxtaposed with an old photo from the 1950s with a similarly-clad protestor holding up a sign reading, "Interracial Marriage = Communism".
It made me smile.

Too busy to answer!
I need to save City 31!
(also, it crashed once after 7 hours, now it crashed after an hour or so, it might be on my laptop, though, which quite explicitly does not meet requirements - the game bluntly reminds me each time I run it, but works decently for a new game on 6 year, non-gaming config)

O good, 2.5 out of 3 (I'm not married).
In other news, is it wrong that I think that the Grateful Dead were a bit of a crap band most of the time? Some good tracks - some - but a lot of it's just addled woffling.

Yep. Really similar to the one he showed me. I wonder about the one you have linked, simply because that "IS" is much darker and clearer than the rest of the sign.
But then, I figured the whole thing was a hoax and was trying to demonstrate that to Impus Major when I found that I could find plenty of examples of that shot, and not a single, "That's not real" comment...

I admittedly didn't bother fact checking the image itself, because there were so many of them, and specifcally many of them sourced from reliable articles and websites, that I figured even in the case that this particular image was photoshopped, there were enough real examples that the point would still be valid.
