LOL. Go ahead. According to my Google Maps, the two streets are 0.1 miles apart starting at Hopkins to the north (which is what I use) all the way through Berkeley to just before Ashby to the south, and Milvia's a bike road the whole way, while MLK is a very narrow major thoroughfare.

Haven't you had that discussion before? Or was that another pair of close placed roads?

Hi, everyone!

Okay, having lived in-between Milvia and MLK downtown for five years, here are my two cents. The way people drive down it make MLK dangerous; dangerous for pedestrians, dangerous for bikes. I honestly cannot understand why anyone would voluntarily commute down that street on two wheels. BUT, if you're bicycling to either North Berkeley or Ashby BART, it makes more sense to take MLK than Milvia. Also, Milvia can be creepy to walk/bike down in the early morning or late afternoon, because the cops don't patrol it as much, and all sorts of shady crap goes down on Milvia. (Drug deals, particularly.) (Okay, so lots of shady crap goes down on MLK and Shattuck, too. It's Berkeley. What do you expect?) AND, I can tell you this from repeated personal experience, drivers treat the stop signs at the streets crossing Milvia as if they're casual suggestions rather than commandments. I can't count the number of times I've almost been creamed when I theoretically had the right-of-way.

I've actually never played Baldur's Gate 2 before, though not from a lack of trying. Bought it on Gog awhile ago but couldn't get it to work.

I really think, whatever RPG you start with, decides how you see RPG's going forward. Like, VII (what's all this number business? :P ) was the first RPG I ever played, and it was the gold-standard benchmark which all other RPGs were compared to after that. It's still my favourite RPG of all time. VI and IX are runners-up. I don't get how people like VIII or X, but each to their own, I guess?

Well, don't tell anyone but....

>.>

<.<

I actually played Chrono Trigger on the DS and it wasn't my very first RPG, still think it's the best though!

It's a residential street that has two very wide bike lanes, and lots of blockades and speed bumps to further discourage through traffic.

On MLK I was probably one of 300 cars traveling the 2.5 miles.
On Milvia I encountered 5 cars, all in the first 3 blocks past University.

But I can't speak to LM's point. Being a "day biker" I've only ridden Milvia from dawn to dusk, except back when I was riding to and from Tae Kwon Do training, at which time I wouldn't have particularly cared about shady characters.

Now THAT was a productive lunch:
(1) Went to the roofer's office, picked shingles, and signed the work agreement.
(2) Went to the library and donated 6 shopping bags' worth of books
(3) Emailed the solar guy that his agreement was agreeable and I'd sign it and cut him the initial check whenever he wanted to stop by, or tomorrow at lunch at the latest.

They're all saying they expect to be able to fit me in the week of March 25, or April 1 at the latest.

I am happy.

(And yes, I'm old, and like arguing with Freehold about biking. I just get very fed up with bikers who ride on major thoroughfares when there are significantly better options at most 0.1 miles away. Don't get me started on the bikers on Solano when they narrowed Marin (1 long block away) from 2 blocks to 1 just to accommodate wide bike lanes.)

I've mentioned it before - I was on my bike on a somewhat busy street (busy for the town, at any rate), but I needed to turn left into a business from the busy street - I had no other available route. I was moved as far to the left as I could and was using hand signals. I still got clipped on my right shoulder from behind by an SUV's side mirror, and it knocked me to the ground into oncoming traffic. And they kept going.

This isn't New York or San Francisco. This was Bloomington-Normal, IL. There's traffic, sure, but there's not TRAFFIC like you get in the major cities. Most American cities are NOT designed for mixed automobile and bicycle traffic.

And bicyclist behavior *matters*. But sometimes, even if you're doing everything you can to be considerate and safe, some drivers are still complete ******* ********* **** ********* to the * ** ************ **** ***and a big pile of ********** *** ********** ********* *** * * ******** ** *********************************.

Yeah, gotta love the places that say, "Give us your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, and at least three passwords to online accounts and we'll possibly consider giving you an estimate."

If a ZIP Code and approximate square footage isn't enough, you're a rip-off artist.

(The insulation guy asked, "How big is your house?" "About 1000 square feet." "OK. $1500." Not a serious issue there.)

OK, two old man gripes in one day: Can we please decide on a standard "age of adulthood"?

- At 14, kids are old enough to get married in some states under some circumstances
- At 16, kids are old enough to drive in most states under most circumstances
- At 18, kids are old enough to get married, drive, vote, live on their own, and go to war under most circumstances (unless you're in Nebraska (19 for marriage) or Mississippi (21 for marriage))
- At 21, kids are old enough to drink or bear witness to legal proceedings

So yeah, I got bitten by the last one: We need an "uninvolved" witness to the signings of our wills. I figured I'd grab Talky, because he's uninvolved and he'd appreciate the "honor". Then I read the wills, and the witness has to be at least 21. What? Are we getting him drunk or something?

When you need a table to figure out whether you're old enough to do xxx, there's something wrong with the system.

And I'm still not old enough to do some things. (Collect from my IRA, for example.)

Congrats NH! Always good to have something productive done =)

That being said, the water in the fish tank filter dropped quite a bit overnight and my mom kicked up a fuss about me doing the fish tank first before eating dinner(I hate having things that I haven't done before I sit down and relax for a meal). She was going all the way about you better watch out that you don't get gastric etc. And she keeps wanting me to eat rice saying its part of the Chinese diet(dude, I'm pretty much avoiding carbs as far as possible).

I really do not know how I'm going to ever explain intermittent fasting to her. Even if I didn't eat dinner it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Then she kicked up a fuss about me going to my aunts place(I owe her some blanket and bed sheet cleaning and I also want to put my stuff at her place), because my aunt has a stomach virus, when she was delivering food when my aunt was in and talking to my aunt while she was having stomach virus. Look my aunt won't even be in when I'm doing my stuff, so what the hell?

Chrono Trigger was indeed my first RPG, shortly followed by Final Fantasy VI, Super Mario RPG Lot7S, and Pokemon. I played bits and pieces of Planescape: Torment in my high school years but didn't get dedicatedly into D&D-based games until Neverwinter Nights 1, which I picked up in 2003 and have been playing ever since.

It's also the only real WRPG I've been able to get into other than PS:T. For some reason no others have ever really clicked for me. Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Witcher, you name it... I've just never been able to get into them. But JRPGs, especially the older NES/SNES/GB/GBA era ones and the more recent ones using the same older style, I can snatch up in a heartbeat and will probably love.

It's kinda why I've lost interest in Final Fantasy after XII. Everything since then has moved further and further away from the classic JRPG mold.

I know what it is. It's a sensitivity to MSG, which is in practically everything. Unfortunately. :(

The Exchange

Time to make your own meals and bring them to work, probably. Though there were some pills that you could take before you took MSG, so you don't get a reaction. Think Hi brought some of that to Singapore.

And read the ingredients of all the canned foods you're buying like nothing more then a 5 ingredient list etc.
