She's been toying with the idea of trading in her car for a couple months. She went to go look at one without intending to buy. Didn't take the extra key with her, didn't grab her car title, nothing. The sales guy told her what she could have it for and she said "Ok!"

You go to Rome, you do as Romans do. There is a saying you can't change the world, you can only change yourself
I have a relative who went for an abortion. She still feels the guilt to this day(its been decades). So I approve of no sex before marriage. In case the boy dumps you.

Which you're welcome to. But you're arguing against a stance that believes not only are the Romans wrong, but that its the opposition's moral duty to try to change them, or at least their laws and culture.
These are people who believe immensely in their cause, and refuse to "do as the Romans do" because they despise how the Romans are behaving and/or running things, and their entire desire IS TO change the world beyond themselves. That's the point of their stance and movement.
The conflict between those who feel that way and the traditionalists who agree with the old-fashioned abstinence policy is what shapes a MASSIVE amount of the sociopolitical arguments on the subject of birth control, women's rights, abortion, and so forth, and all associated opinions and the laws governing such here in the US, with the core belief of both sides being that the other side is morally wrong and the only correct solution is to eradicate their POV and/or change the opposition's mindset to match theirs.
And any more on that subject WILL inevitably be too political for FAWTL. =P I'll leave it at this and a warning that using the "when in Rome" excuse is going to massively piss off a lot of the more actively politically-minded people you're likely to cross paths with on the internet.

For more wtf ideas...
The Bishan Park run is at 7.30 am on a Saturday morning. It takes me about 33 min to run 5 km...so I'll be done at about 8 am ish, factor in another 15 min walking time to the mrt station.
And on Saturday I was supposed to kick my BF out of bed at 9 am in the morning for a 2.4 km run.
Now the million dollar question is this - can I do both in one day?
It means total mileage of 7.5 km. I've never run 7.5 km before, but I've run 6.2 km with a break in between.
My colleague, who runs marathons and is planing a backpacking trip to Nepal says I should yolo it =P

So it's a state and federal program using major tax credits and working in conjunction with the electric company...and basically they're figuring out that paying for the solar panels over 20 years is going to be a lower payment than our electric bill currently stands. And there's nothing to pay up front. I'm really trying to find the downside on this deal.

So...to recap...yesterday was really odd.
Aiymi got a deal she couldn't refuse on a new car. There was nothing particularly wrong with her old one, but it was just about out of its warranty and it still had value. Trading it in was smart, and, like I said, a really good deal on the car she bought.
I can't exactly be mad at her for that; I just didn't realize she'd be doing that yesterday. Really, she didn't either. It does add a car payment that I'm a bit nervous about adding to the expenses, but it's not like she bought a BMW or Mercedes or something.
And then she had setup an appointment with a solar panel company. So...they're going to remove the trees we wanted to remove anyway. They're going to put solar panels on our roof. After the tax credits, the cost of the solar panels per month is going to be less than our current average electric bill...so replacing our electric bill with a loan for solar panels, but it's less...
Just feels very weird to be taking out two large loans on the same day and have very little to do with either of them.

Kjeldorn, I'm definitely not in the try before you buy camp. Even preventive methods are not 100% and what if you accidentally get the girl pregnant?
Well if we are both responsible adults and take preventive measures (ie me wearing a condom and her being on some kind of contraceptive) should keep the risks of pregnancy to a minimum.
Now as it isn't a foolproof method, what would I do if I go a woman pregnant anyway?Well I would ask her to sit down and have a talk about it. How does she feel about it? How do I feel about it? What would it mean for our relationship? Is there even a relationship? Does she want a child? Do I? Does she want me being a part the child's life? Do I want any of that?
And hopefully, in the end, we together can come to a conclusion that we both can live with.
I'm not saying its easy, nor painless, nor simple...but in such a situation it might just be about doing as well as you can for the both of you instead of trying to do what's 'expected' of you by traditions or society.
Are you making her go for an abortion?
It is her body, so I don't really feel comfortable telling her what to do with it. So No, I wouldn't make her get an abortion as that would ultimately violate her control over her own body, just as I myself would like to maintain my control over my own body.
So while I would like a say in such a matter, it would ultimately be a decision primarily for her as she is the one most affected by carrying a child to term.
And you're supposed to stay a virgin till your wedding night.
Frankly I'm not really that interested in whether or not any future partner of mine has had intimate relations with any other men or women before me.
Hopefully any potential partner will share that view, and focus on the intimate relationship we might have together, instead of dwelling on those we had in the past.
Basically when it comes to experimenting with sex, the girl gets the short end of the stick the guy gets to get away Scott free(other then the girls family chasing after him). And in some cultures the guys family would pride him on his manliness in deflowering many girls.
Which is, of cause, silly.
Shouldn't women experiment with their sexuality? Sure they should! Luckily they, to an increasing extent, can as governmental policies change to better accommodate single parenthood, as older views on what constitutes a 'proper' family begins to erode, as women got more control over their menstrual cycles with contraceptives and finally as we durned men started taking a larger interest in early parenting.![](/WebObjects/Frameworks/Ajax.framework/WebServerResources/wait30.gif)

Hermione wants an "Arwen-themed birthday".
Last night, I found an online English-Sindarin-Quenya translator and got a translation for "more than just a princess" in Tengwar script.
Then I found a beautiful woodcut-style illustration of Arwen with Rivendell and some horses in a field in the background. So I'm designing a custom shirt.
I think she'll think it's cool, but is it *too* nerdy?

"A woman's right to choose" isn't limited to pregnancy.
A woman has a right to choose her partners, her level of activity or inactivity (whether or not in a relationship), her mode of sexual self-expression, whether or not she has children and whether or not she chooses to be in relationship to the father of said children. All governments, religions, and familial/societal expectations can go f*** off.
This is exactly what I was trying to get at with my last post, Mort. And why the "when in Rome" excuse tends to go over very poorly, especially with people who strongly disagree with the old-fashioned cultural status quo.

And it's important to note that what LM is saying is that it's your choice that YOU should be making, not someone else dictating to you what options you have. Regardless of your reasons, it should be entirely up to you. If you want to maintain the more traditional life for yourself, that's great, but only as long as it's really what YOU WANT and not a restriction placed upon you by outside forces.
(Not disagreeing with Orthos, but trying to further clarify - What works for Orthos doesn't work for me, but in no way would I expect governmental interference in Orthos' life to make him conform to my beliefs...unless he's trying to force his beliefs on someone else...which he isn't.)

I would say maybe. A extra kilometer is a challenge, but not an insurmountable one.

And if you can do it once, then you know you can do it again.

He never smoked in the house anyway, but he's quit altogether now. I'm proud of him.Grats on your brother! Tell him not to relapse because the urge to pick up a cigarette gets stronger everytime he gets stressed.
Its fairly easy now. Most of the stress is coming from about to be a dad. So, baby stress. But he's quitting for the baby, so its easy to steel his resolve for that.
It will be harder a few months in and little sleep.
