Went to my father in law’s seventieth birthday party yesterday. It was a good party. I mean, I hated it, but sitting around talking to strangers is not fun for me. But he had a good time which was what mattered. And I did get to see some people I hadn’t in quite a while and that was nice as they’re folks I actually like.
There were a bunch of decorations intended to poke fun at aging, and it was well planned. But one of the ‘jokes’ was an inflatable walker. Early in the evening they just sort of left it as the joke wasn’t so funny when a younger person using a mobility aid was right there. But it came out later when everyone was drunk. It was equal parts sad and irritating to see the dawning realization when someone would say something to me and then realize that mocking someone’s disability to their face was not actually fun. :/
And then my husband refused to stop at a motel even though we started home really late, so that was a fun drive...made it home at two am, all exhausted, but hey, at least we all got to sleep in this morning. :)

Edit: puts on daytime pajamas...this is not the day for normal clothes. :P
My wobbly rib does not do well with bras. Hoping it gets steadier if I give it a day to rest. It’s stil pretty bruised from being put back in place by the chiropractor on Friday, so I’m hoping it will stay put so I don’t have to have her put it back again on Monday

So Zelda and I attended a blacksmithing class yesterday. That was fun. It was advertised to be over at 3, and she was supposed to be at a salon by 3:30 for hair and makeup before being in a small runway fashion show for her job, and then there was another meeting we needed to get to after that. None of these things were in the same town. And it wasn't quite over at 3.

Is it fall yet? Because it’s still acting like summer and we basically didn’t get fall at all last year and I really, really want colder weather now please...

I misread this as your father in law's SEVENTEENTH birthday party. Which raises allll sorts of questions.

Mobility aids are for use, not jokes.

I would normally make a boob comment, but as I am a *mature adult*, I will ask if it is simply time for a sports bra instead.

The blacksmithing part was pretty awesome. Hopefully doing it again next month.

The rushing around part was at least a little enjoyable for me - the only way this worked was if she changed clothes in the car between the blacksmithing and the salon, while I drove at speeds I will not publicly confirm.

Was it really slow, I'd drive really slow.

In fact, we probably wouldn't make it, but not due to any sort of traffic issues.

Oh, I pitched out all my underwires already. But even a comfy sports bra doesn’t feel good on a dislocated rib. Or even just a bruised rib. I’m trying to learn how to make my own bras to see if I can make something more comfortable, but that’s kind of a long term project. My solution to all clothes related problems is to see if I can’t make something better myself. :)

Please let me know what you come up with. This could be fascinating and even life altering for not just you but women everywhere. The back(strap?) of the bra industry is overdue for breaking.

I got myself a new sportsbra since I'm getting tired of having to hope it's dry after I run on Saturday and run again on Sunday. I don't run with normal bra after the last time the underwire chafing led me to get a blister.

Pretty sure underwire is meant to be torture...and a good sports bra is the best thing ever. Of course I also think that synthetic lace is awful, so I’m biased towards sportier clothes even before taking my other issues into account. :)

Thought about it, but we’re forced to use Comcast for internet thanks to our apartment complex and they’ve made it more expensive to just buy internet than cable and internet. So not likely to switch as long as we live here

Charter tried telling me I could save money by bundling my internet with cable, I told them I'd gladly pay extra for not having cable.

Common misconception, but no, the underwire isn’t supporting you. It’s supporting the fabric to keep it in the right shape to support you. You can get the same support without the underwire, but the fabric and make have to be very strong and it’s vital that it is the correct fit. I get the same support for my f cups from a well made wire free bra, including lack of jiggle, as from an underwire bra. The trick is that you end up trying out a whole bunch of crap bras before you find he good wirefree ones. And then they keep ‘improving’ them so you’re never done looking. :/

And this folks is why I envy small chested women. So so so so much.

Nope. McDonald's stopped frying their fries in beef fat back in 1990 and switched to vegetable oil. Whatever objections people may have to McD's, their fries are vegan friendly.

I continue to fry fries at home in a mixture of canola oil and bacon drippings because it tastes so damn good.

Edit: Yep, Drejk is correct:

Freehold DM wrote:

Keep in mind I am no vegetarian anymore, but that was the scuttlebutt a few years ago.
I remember mcdonalds switching to veggie oil, but there was something..either some franchisees didn't or some way they were being handled...SOMEthing. Can't quite remember.
Probably same reason I can’t eat their fries. They don’t have a dedicated fryer. They cook the chicken nuggets in the same oil. Now for me that’s a great way to have to visit the ER because the wheat from the breading gets in everything. But I can definitely see where it would also be a big no for a vegan

THAT'S probably it.

Thank you so much, that was driving me nuts.

Also, what fast food places CAN you eat at? In case I visit. Considering how far away you are, sushi will NOT travel well.

Five guys is my fav for fast food. They have a dedicated fryer for fries and pretty good milkshakes. And, okay, peanuts are not the most nutritious main course ever, but it works for me. As long as I’m careful about my carbs the next day. :)

Most of the safe places to eat are not fast food, but...

Five Guys is so gooooooooooooood

Now if only they hadn't bought into the terrible "everything from one spiggot" abominable Coke machines... I love Coke products, but, ugh, those are terrible for flavor.

There is a specialty store somewhere aroundabouts that does personalized measurements and makes unique harnesses(sorry, I dont know the exact term for bras that encompass ribcage as well as boobs). If I can find their info, I'll PM you. They may be able to refer you to someplace local.

I tried some sweet corn potato chips once. I have never put something so heinous in my mouth before. (bearing possibly when I was a toddler but who remembers that) I took one bite and spit it out immediately. They are so gross.

Because Madison has an "uptick" in thefts from vehicles they're now canvassing various neighborhood and checking cars for valuables and if they're unlocked and then handing out "report cards" if they are.

I dunno, maybe it's because I lived somewhere other than Wisconsin, but it seems like theirs a better way to spend my taxes.

Personally, I don't leave anything in my car and leave it unlocked (no one is going to steal a hail pelted four door Kia for joy riding).

F@#$ it, I'd the thieves want my mix CDs they can have them!
