This summer things will likely change. The whole allowance model of, "If you do something wrong you lose money," has been a complete and utter failure. So we're going to my parents' model of, "You have to work to earn your allowance."
Cooking for the family is going to be worth $5. I suspect the kids will take a MUCH greater interest in cooking knowing they're getting paid for it.
Remember to specify that cleaning up afterward is part of making dinner, and that everyone must enjoy what is served.
I know it'll be difficult for you, but feel free to be crotchety too! ;)
...Also be naked like me when you tell them, for extra points!

"I know! We'll give them really thick accents!"
So I got:
HARE-ess-ment. Because Beavis and Butt-Head
SAY-fe-tee. WTF?
I won't go off on, "At least they didn't do xxx."
But seriously. A voiceover is NOT the place to go around exploring the world's accents!

Disappointment of the day: friend who before claimed to be racist today revealed that she is also homophobic. *sigh*
No black folks around or openly gay people among friends so it changes little in practice but it's very meh moment for me.
Well, you're a dragon. Just do your civic duty, pretend she's one of those meddling knights or a sticky-fingered rogue after your hoard, and then eat her. :)

Everyone enjoy what is being served can be tricky if you have people with differing tastes.
Like if you were serving me Thai green curry, I'd probably tell you it's too hot, but my aunt would be over the moon.
And serving my Dad vegetables would get him turn his nose up at them, but if you served me vegetables, I'd gobble up everything.
And just air fry fries and toast chicken nuggets, put it on table, I should think most people would eat those...but Urgh. So unhealthy ><
I'd go for no one complains too loudly.

The good today: I bought Dead Cells on promotion. Wonderful game.

ironically, I am reading this at the second job.

I'm a plain cook. Nothing fancy but well, it tastes decent, and doesn't require a LOT of prep time. Of course...black fungus isn't going to chop itself, nor corn peel itself, nor eggs boil themselves, so it'll still take some time.
Honestly I find frozen lunches a little cheaty. If I want to cook I'll start with fresh ingredients. Doesn't take much...now where's the salmon?
I thought this was a really cool post, right up 'til the end!
(Get it? It's a pun. Because you don't like "frozen" lunches. Also, I do frozen foods. FUNNY)
Frozen foods have their places, like I'd keep packets of these around in case of peckishness or people coming over but I wouldn't make a habit of eating them everyday.
I mean if you want to take the trouble to cook, you must as well do it all the way. For us, buying back a meal is easy. Takeaway is common.

Seriously... this morning, my son had legos, coins, and a puzzle eraser in his underpants. WTF?
It's sort of like a dragon/turtle combination: carrying your horde of treasure around with you.
Girl children do not do this.

I am not going to - I'd have to be directly attacked (or possibly witness someone else being attacked) to respond with violence.
We (the rest of the group) have stressed our discomfort and lack of appreciation for her stance but the distasteful feeling remains...

Gonna go contrarian on this one Drejk.
Got one of those too, a self proclaimed racist. I've known him for years now, and he's nowhere harsh, dangerous or virulent enough to really be considered such in more then an academic sense of the word. Really all it amounts to is a complete disinterest in anything other then his own ethnic heritage and culture, and most importantly his everyday life. Sure he's selfish, standoffish and even annoying, but I can't really criminalize him for any of it.
Also what I've learned being an acquaintance and friend of him over the years is that he's ultimately completely uninterested in any cultural exploration or progress, barring the slow conservative "inching forwards".
What to do then?
Well, I'm not going to villainize him that's for sure! as there are more then enough of worse people out there that just gitty at the thought of picking up people, who gets ostracized from polite society.
No, he still get invited to my games (he's in one currently). I just put up a few ground rules (No mean-spirited [insert]-ist outbursts at the gaming table, and if you wanna spout politics at the table (We're a motley bunch that cover most of the left-right spectre) be prepared to be challenged on your views.
If he couldn't handle something that simple, he would have been given the boot, but so far he has (Have known him for around 7 years now).
I guess what I'm saying is, we all have our limits to what we can tolerate. You think she's too much, then she is. If you think she isn't that bad, she probably isn't.

Racism and hate come in a lot of forms, some more subtle than others. As long as people aren't openly going off on others, I think the best thing to do is usually leaving them to their own devices. Trying to push them can prove volatile. Perhaps they'll come to it themselves, or at least leave people alone.
Like me! I may be constantly happy, but I'm often angry at people. Either I hate everyone equally, or I'm mad not at the color of their skin, but at the content of their character. Exactly as Martin Luther King Junior would've wanted.
Though it's one of the few things to get me mad anymore, my biggest pet peeve is probably very silly to others. Likely a small annoyance amplified by autism. Despite my usual willingness to break social conventions (and metaphorically beat them as they feebly writhe on the ground), I rarely bring it up given how dumb it sounds. Even though it happens way too often and makes me so angry that the best way to prevent me from attacking people is to fantasize about just that.

Wait, I'm detecting a lack a lack of politics here, but also of flippancy. Is race and similar issues lumped in that category around here? If so, good to know, now I shan't partake in any further discussion on it.
The appearance of Fritzy (or some variation thereof) is typically an indicator that it's time to end a particular topic.
So it's not so much a massive "lumping" as a polite way to request that a topic be tabled for at least a few pages, if not permanently. (I don't think any topic EVER permanently gets banned... except Alton Brown's wonderful brownie a la mode recipe that i just found...)

If she's particularly religious, just remind her that the Mother of Poland, the Madonna of Czestochowa, is black.

I actually took down a license plate number to report a driver with an emissions problem on the California smoking vehicle whistleblower website this evening.
Under normal circumstances I probably wouldn't (even though the smoke was continuous and pretty foul), but they were sporting no less than three anti-vaxx bumper stickers, as well as a fourth bumper sticker that said "go f**k yourself", but you can't report someone for being an ignorant a&++&~%$, just for operating a smoking vehicle.

You have to understand, my family is heavily invested in politics, and while I live in a liberal mecca, everywhere else around us still has quite a bit of racism.
So, yes, it's a topic I'm quite sick of.
I feel your pain. Savannah, GA has quite a bit of that here too. Sad. So very sad.

Racism, while a social issue, is also a political issue/divider. It shouldn't be, and reasonable people should be able to agree on that, but it is at this point in our lives, at least in American politics.
Oh! I did not realize racism was politics too. Thanks Vanykyre!
Psst. I thought NH talking about candidates in California was causing Fritzy to appear.

Oh and I like the new printer. Sure it gives me scanning issues, but I can live with that since it copies smooth like a cucumber.
No more hassle of splitting sets into 10 pages because any more then that will cause paper jams.
And having to clear paper jams occasionally.
*Gives a paws up to the printer*

The Adult Kid's birthday is Friday. 26! Well, not the math expression of 26!. That would be really too old. I can't have a kid who's 403,291,461,126,605,635,584,000,000 years old.
What purpose does ! serve in mathematics anyway? I've never understood the practical use of it, nor have I ever seen it in any real world equations.
anybody know what good it does?
I'm pretty sure it's used in statistics. That's where I remember seeing it the most.
