Today is the last day of school before spring break. Kidlet has anime club after school, then jujitsu. Then we are going to go see Pacific Rim 2! Presumably. There is a chance the kidlet will try and postpone the movie until tomorrow. But not a big chance. He wants to see it as bad as I do.
From someone who has never even seen a full trailer for either PR, what is the deal? I'm vaguely turned off by the concept due to it being reminiscent of the Transformers franchise, but I do love me my action flicks. I could YouTube the trailers, but I'd rather hear it from a fan. :)
EDIT: It's a good thing the concept doesn't turn me on....

Like I said, my problem with this place is that I forget how amazingly bleh that particular sandwich is from them. The au jus tasted like it was just a bouillion cube in water.
They do a fine hamburger. Good, simple breakfasts. Perfectly fine pork tenderloin. I don't have to move my car to eat there, and it's about 75 feet from my desk.

Okay, so I am admittedly a total fangirl. My son and I saw the first Pacific Rim movie in the theater five times. We won't get into how many times we've watched the DVD....
Not even remotely like Transformers. For starters you can tell which robot is which. :P But also it's more live-action gundam style. The robots all have human pilots. And the robots are enormous. (There is a scene in the first movie where a robot uses a ship as a bat against a giant kaiju....it is made of cheese, but it is tasty,. tasty awesome cheese! ;P) They are fighting against a whole slew of Godzilla style monsters, which are done really well, and there's a subplot in the first film about the science team figuring out more about the kaiju. It's very much a del Toro film, which is a good thing in my opinion. He doesn't direct the second one, so I'm a little concerned about possible change in tone, but I'm hoping it will still be awesome. :)

Also, squee! Someone else likes the weird flavors! Anise, clove, and horehound are my favorite candy flavors and usually this gets me looks of disgust. :)

And yeah, two things in the universe I don't understand:
(1) Bad prime rib
(2) Bad French Dips
I've made both. They're ludicrously easy to make. I mean, seriously, "Buy a decent cut of meat, cook it slowly. Heaven!"
For prime rib you can quite seriously undercook it a bit, cut a slab, put it on a plate, and friggin' microwave it to proper temperature and it still comes out delicious.
So how is it that 95%+ of all restaurants in the U.S. fail at this?
Of all the places within an hour's drive of my house, I've had prime rib that I considered "excellent" at one: Skates. The seafood place.
WTF, restaurants?
(It is harder to do a well-done roast chicken than it is a good prime rib. Yet you can get good chicken all over the place.)

A couple of homebrew rule ideas I had.
1. What if Bravery applied to every Will save, not just for fear effects.
2. Since I have no intention of ever getting Unchained what spell list should I allow Magic Child Vigilantes use, since I'm the only person here that doesn't watch Anime or play Final Fantasy style games I'll let the experts decide.

No, she's a rules lawyer, essentially, and so she breaks every sentence down to the sub atomic level and then puts it back together again, complaining about it the whole time.

1) YES; alt: give them a good will save (it’s pretty similar - only +1 more at the highest levels)
2) literally anything other than the unchained someone or list. Like, anything at all. Magical girl genre really varies from series-to-series, and the effects, and what they are like, differ, immensely. Someone or is more along the Pokémon lines, while others might be a bit more blastula, and others more Healy, and so on.

Okay, a little jealous. Mostly from the nachos, not the beer.
Our assigned seat theater was sold out when we went to try, so we found another one that had space. Only it had the speakers built into the seats, so it was too much noise and feedback until I got used to it. Might take the time to see it again in a better venue.

Oooh! I almost got my first DYAC moment!
What I tried to send to Impus Major, who is late getting home:
"Are you coming home or are you gnoming?"
What my phone tried to send him:
"Are you coming good or are you incoming?"
I *almost* hit send anyway, but I figured he was already going to Sherlock Gnome, so additional humiliation was unnecessary.

What's sad is that we're in the San Francisco Bay Area, so I can name at least half a dozen Mexican restaurants within 2 miles of my house, but the Cerrito's nachos are near the top of all of 'em in terms of tastiness. The rest of their food is so-so, but they manage to kick butt with their nachos.
And Black Panther and nachos on a sofa on a Friday evening just seems Swell!

Speaking of Fridays, it is VERY hard to take work seriously right now.
- I finished all the projects assigned to me on Monday
- On Tuesday I'd wrapped up all the extra work I'd been given because I was already done, finished next week's work, and offered to help out my manager on her work
- On Wednesday I resolved a problem she'd been having for 2 weeks, got to file 3 bugs against the product, had another PM and director both personally thank me, and told my manager I really had nothing to do
- On Thursday I did some personal research I've wanted to do for a few weeks, but wrapped it up
- So this morning I started work, called my manager, and I said, "I have absolutely positively nothing left to do. And I can't sit around watching YouTube 'cause I get bored." She found some mildly-interesting busywork for me (reviewing another team's security deep dive for accuracy). Then we had our teem meeting at noon.
And the lead dumped a bunch of nonsensical busywork in my lap. Not due 'til EOD Monday
- Everyone else in the department left by 2:30 pm my time.
So yeah, I've done more than my share this week, could leave any time and nobody would notice, but I'm sitting here doing busywork nonsense so I won't have to do it on Monday.
What's wrong with me?

In HS news, I finally pulled the trigger on crafting The Last Kaleidosaur, and somehow I seem to be winning less than I did with my playtest deck. Despite the fact my playtest deck had zero 1-drop minions, to simulate how the completed deck would play. :/
Oh and since Blizzard tweaked the ladder rules, I have faced someone named Your Opponent 4-5 in the past week. I know the monthly cardback now requires winning 5 ladder games, but does it still require Rank 20?
I don't think it requires rank 20. But its still a way to get dailies done...that face hunter of mine does a pretty good job on standard ranked.
The thing is that the meta is evolving all the time, so during your playtest it might have been good, but the meta currently is very fast...even my murloc paladin hasn't been doing too well.
