Geez, the news is just getting worse and worse from Japan. So many people missing (many, many of them no doubt dead), people without homes, heating, electricity, food ... and now the latest explosion and radiation threat at the nuclear power plant.
While the Japanese government is saying the radiation threat is only a danger within a 30km radius of the plant, I have heard from friends in the Philippines and Indonesia that there is minor panic in those countries as there has been some (hopefully mis-)information that they are going to be hit by dangerous radiation levels there. I’m fairly sure that’s not correct – from all I have heard through official channels even in the event of a full meltdown the dangerous levels of radiation will be fairly isolated. I hate to think of what it would mean for Tokyo if that were not the case.
Everything I've heard from scientific sources suggests that the panic is mostly being inspired by sensationalist reporting. It's very dangerous in the immediate vicinity if things go very wrong, but it's contained to a small area. Evidently the nuclear reaction in these plants is retarded by rises in temperature, while Chernobyl's reactions sped up as the core temp rose. Thus the more the coolant fails the less reactive the core gets.
The people that are working there to contain the disaster are brave, noble people. They are the first that will suffer if things do go horribly wrong. I wish them all the best, and can only admire them.

It's a polarizing topic. I'll understand and agree that some people could certainly act with more decorum, myself included, but it's going to bring up bad/unresolved feelings, especially with the shot across the nose(or up it, depending on your opinion and whether or not you watched Spaceballs recently) that the first post was.

Morning, all. What did I miss?
Well, as Nathan began to edge closer to his retirement, he began to feel a sense of regret regarding several of his unrealized goals. Little did he know, however, that his retirement would be short-lived. Meanwhile, the love triangle between Olivia, Flint, and Ross took a turn for the grim, when Flint decided to risk his life in the line of duty. And, across town, Mr. Quincannon was thrown into....No, wait! That's my soap opera.

Ouch! Sorry, CH.
Urizen: You should. Has a real nightmare/fairy tale feel to it.
More speaking of steampunk: What's up with Restoration Hardware? There's a lot of stuff in the new catalog that would allow one to redecorate in Late Steampunk.

It is kind of a let down after PI day. So, I didn't even realize they were making a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I'm such a sucker. I can't find what I did with the pirates tattoo decal I was saving. :-(
They are also coming out with Lego: Pirates of the Caribbean this summer!!

Actually, on the second read-through, he doesn't actually say that. Just that we as gamers grow and enjoy a more complex game. He tops out the complexity at 3.0/3.5 and doesn't state where 4E stands on complexity.
I don't think he wants to open that tanker of worms.

Sorry, for some reason my mind randomly set upon the etymology of "ruminate" and I got a mental image of Jess actually doing so.
A mind is a terrible thing.

It's no big deal. I also just wanted to make sure I didn't drop the ball in letting you know the books were ready to ship.
Sorry to hear that yesterday sucked.

Maybe it wasn't intended this way, but the fighter was the gateway character into the game, back in the day.

How do you find it? And what exactly is inside it? Cuz I have a Darklight Sisterhood game coming up, and I'm trying to figure out if I should rush an order over my way.

Holy Diver
You've been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what's becoming of me
Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he's clean
Oh don't you see what I mean
Gotta get away
Holy Diver
Shiny diamonds
Like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue
Something is coming for you
Race for the morning
You can hide in the sun 'till you see the light
Oh we will pray it's all right
Gotta get away-get away
Between the velvet lies
There's a truth that's hard as steel
The vision never dies
Life's a never ending wheel
Holy Diver
You're the star of the masquerade
No need to look so afraid
Jump on the tiger
You can feel his heart but you know he's mean
Some light can never be seen
