Professor: In Southeast Asia, you see a large mix of religions. There was Hindu influence from India, as well as heavy Buddhist influence which came a bit later on. The Europeans brought Christianity later on. Oh, and between that there was Muslim influence. Speaking of that, here's a quiz question. What-

How does my Legacy of Fire party deal with large groups of Pugwampis? Set them, and the beds they're camping on, and the ceiling, on fire, and then use the smoke to drive the giant spider out of the nearby tower.
Sounds like how my players dealt with pretty much the entirety of "The Whispering Cairn."
"Acid beetles? THROW BLANKETS ON THEM, THEN LIGHT EVERYTHING ON FIRE. NUKE THE TOMB FROM ORBIT."

Don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I figure it's worth saying.
For those considering upgrading to Windows 10 - it works fine, and there are few interesting features so far, but it's ugly as all get out, and a near-complete lack of visual transparency-settings means that (for example) my previously-pleasant screen saver in which bubbles float around the screen becomes a solid black backdrop... with bubbles floating around the eternal void*.
The required solid black background** is also semi-painful, as is the bright white icons/wording against such a dark background.
The screens are hard and filled with sharp corners - neither soothing nor pleasant. Also the start up times are... awful. It takes forever now.
I upgraded from 7, so bear that in mind.
The short version: everything is too harsh and unrelenting: corners, highlights, blacks, whites, and similar elements, and it clashes with itself in an unpleasant way.
Also, hopefully, I'm over that stomach thing. Blegch.
Thanks for the prayers.
* I know screen savers are kind of passe now, but my boys generally enjoy seeing the bubbles (and "popping" them by way of ending the screen saver/moving the mouse). The screen saver, however, is just one issue among many.
** You may put images on your Desktop background - and I do (in fact, I have a lovely series of pictures that change every minute) - however everything that isn't the image - including the bar at the bottom, and any space if it doesn't fit perfectly - is the deepest of blacks. While black can be very nice as a background or accent color, this is too much, and in too sharp of a contrast with everything else.

The party's mostly CN. Was there ever a chance we weren't going to take the title as an instruction?

Those beetles put my group - including my monk - on complete Yakety Sax mode, running around in circles while the sorcerer and rogue tried to kill them with basic spells and alchemist's fire.

As long as I don't have to wear a cravat, I'd be totally fine with this style coming back into fashion.
Urgh. Nope. Pants should never end more than a few inches above ankle.

I'll take the cravat over the breeches and tights. I've had to wear those for period operas, and they're not the greatest.
Speaking of old neckwear, when are ascots going to make a comeback?

I actually got accused of having the questions in advance until I demonstrated that I could recite the capital city of every country in Asia.

China - Beijing..
South Korea - Seoul...
North Korea - er... No idea.
Mongolia - already mentioned Ulan Bataar...
Vietnam - Saigon was capital of South Vietnam... Hanoi of North Vietnam and Vietnam currently, I think.
Japan - Tokyo. Kyoto before, and I think that Nara was before that...
India - Delhi.
Nepal - Kathmandu? (Chrome does not underline it so it might be the proper English spelling even).
Thailand - Bangkok
Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Bangladesh, Bhutan - no idea.
I mixed up Malaysia capital for Indonesian one.
Not going into Middle East or the former USSR republics in the middle of Asia...

The more I think about Chicago Fire, the more I realize that the deputy chief (portrayed by the show as prime a*#$&!! #1) is correct to be critical of Bowden, Severide is not fit for command, Dawson is absolutely not fit for firefighting duty, and Bowden made a serious mistake in allowing the new kid a second chance.

easy there Johnny Fencesitter. You can't be against winter and for it. You can only be on one team. No gray morality here.

Leading up to winter, not a fan.
January onwards I despise it (if it's really cold and desolate, if it's mild and varied, yay!)
Late November until January is epic!
Especially, the first couple snowfalls, and large storms, driving is entirely optional for us as everything including work is close by.
I also hate winter in March and April, when it should be done already!
Like I said, it's complicated.

Standard fencing gear (long socks & (padded) breeches, anyway). Adding a cravat, or maybe a ruff, could only improve things.

My new plan: Now that we're a dual-income family again, spend a few months paying down all the debt we've accumulated, then over the summer fly CY out to fix all our fences, landscape our yard, and drive random demolition equipment around the neighborhood... because... why not?
Unfortunately, I somehow suspect my family will choose Disneyland over CY. Sorry, CY!
