Yep. I've learned that no matter how basic, how simple, how yes/no your question is, if you post it, it'll start a flame war.

So I cower and hide with my AP and FaWtL buddies...

Someone is anonymously gifting me PDFs, I thought the Occult Adventures book was Kalindlara being her usual nice and charitable self, but I'm not sure anymore. I have trouble accepting anything under the best of conditions, much less when I don't know who. So not going around outside of off-topic and adventure paths anymore, no matter how bored I get:-D

$39 for new checks? WTF?!? ~grumbles~

If you're ordering them online, make sure you're ordering the most basic kind.

I know back when I was with Wells Fargo the default settings when ordering checks online was for the gold-laminated checks that played M.C. Hammer's "Can't Touch This" every time you filled them in...

...seriously, though, Wells Fargo defaulted to the uber-ornate checks and it cost around $39, but you could switch to "basic blue" checks and get it down to $10-$15.

But that was 10-15 years ago. Switched to a credit union, never looked back...

(Or a credit onion, as Anius used to say? Anyone ever hear what happened to Anius?)

~grumbles~ Oh no. The checks were $21. It was shipping and processing fees that bumped it up to $39.

I will take a few of those freebies. I am about 4 years behind on the Paizo stuff. ~shrugs~ OTOH, I doubt I would use it. I am not currently in a group.

I do hope that your bill issue gets better soon. I REALLY need to pick up a part time job. With the wife not working, someone needs to pick up the slack.

I'm about that behind on Paizo stuff except adventures, hopefully when Tiny T-Rex is off to school next fall I can catch up on what I want, frankly some of it like Ultimate Campaign, Unchained, and ACG do not interest me at all.

Even Bestiary 5 doesn't really excite me.

Oh, well, back to bland advice and droll responses.

So, WHY do I do business with companies like LL Bean, when I can get dress pants much cheaper at Target or Old Navy?

(And just so's you know, the total turnaround time on these e-mails was under 90 minutes.)

The Conversation:

Dear NobodysHome,

I am sorry to hear about your dress chinos not holding up as expected. I am sending a replacement pair and not charging your card for this order along with some special paperwork to return the defective pair. Please return the defective pair with the label and special paperwork that will arrive with your new pants.

Thank you for letting us know about this issue so that we could correct it for you.

Subject: Replacement pants for Order #nnn?

Dear LLB,
On the one hand, I love love LOVE the look, fit, and comfort of your wrinkle resistant dress chinos (Item #AM262555).
On the other hand, after wearing them only 3 times, the elastic at the waist tore, and the pants are no longer wearable without a belt.

This particularly vexes me because the pants aren’t exactly tight-fitting. Without a belt, they slide down around my hips so I pondered ordering another pair one waist size down.

My assumption is that there was an error in manufacturing this particular pair of pants; your products have always been of the highest quality, and I still have 20-year-old coats and 15-year-old boots that can attest to that.

How can I go about getting a replacement pair of pants? Do you need photos? The physical pants?

Thanks for your help!

Sincerely,
NobodysHome

Actually, a lot of physicists (who are generally pretty good at math) think of themselves as "calculator cripples" and I've never seen more math mistakes made than by those who love it and are brilliant at it.

I suspect it's like rolling a d20: the more times you make a skill check, the more often you'll make a mistake... but in this case, you get better.

Sheesh,

I'm 49, (WAY too close to 5-0 to say it out loud) and I'm so far in the hole I have to look up to see the bottom of my shoes!

My shoes that need to be replaced, but I don't because the rest of my family needs things more, and this pair isn't <quite> dead yet,...

:(

If this job would let me have a day off, I would get a second job. But this job keeps me too busy to look for a real job! :P

Ah heck with it, Happy Early Thanksgiving all! :)

Sure you don't want to try Alias Wyvernspur (being Finder's "daughter") or even some other grandiose title she gave her herself when she faced Mistinarpenadnacles Hai Draco (pretty sure that's the right way to spell her full name, might be off, been 25 years since I read that last.

I have to admit, barring my other gripes about FR, I do like Fzoul Chembryl as a villain.

You need to change his portrait though, Fzoul looks pretty much exactly like Ostog the Unslain or the new Skald iconic whose name escapes me - long dark blonde hair with mustache and beard. It's a pretty perfect fit =)
