The Thread of Nope. I can't even remember if I posted in that one. I guess I was too busy trying to bash my skull in with a meat tenderizer.

Woot! I knew it! <redacted> is a <redacted>!
Yeah, they made that pretty obvious. I haven't even watched the finale, but I hope he turns [redacted] into a [redacted] as well.

Also, yes, avoid Monopoly. And Risk. But not Settlers of Catan. The worst you have there is all the wood you have for sheep.
Everybody loves sheep.

Pride weekend was amazing. I was at Harlem Pride and the general parade in the Village. Twas wonderful as I really needed the hours, and my boss promised more events in the future. It was a bit awkward at first as it's been a looooong time since I've been in the field, but I got back into the swing of things eventually.
Saturday was also my friend's batchelorette party where we went to d20 burlesque! This past show was the Night Vale Burlesque show, and it was wonderful despite my knowing absolutely NOTHING about Night Vale in the slightest. The first act was my favorite, a filler act, I believe, but she was so..ah..well...my type, it didn't matter. She left early and I didn't get to meet her after the show, but I DID meet with the emcee, whom I have seen perform before at other d20 burlesque events and is one of the creators in addition to a performer. She complimented my bondage fairies shirt, which I wore just for the occasion!!!!! The other acts included burlesque versions of the funky cloud that hangs over Night Vale, the sheriff who oversees the town, the crowd favorite the Eternal Scouts(had nothing to do with Sailor Moon, but they were creepy/hot as hell!!!), and the Old Lady Who Lives In Your House. I took a few pics, but I will not post them here for fear of upsetting the mods(pasties only cover so much...).
It was a good weekend. First good weekend in a while that didn't involve a Fawtl!
What!? no pics...... :(

We will happily take all the rain we can get in Colorado. It would be nice to have a fire season that's less brutal, but I'm not optimistic. We are having temps in the 90's, intermittent thunderstorms and dry lightning. I hope these sporadic clouds drop more moisture before the 4th.

Some of my friends spend years there - one of them meet her husband in Ireland, I think, before they moved to Germany.
The guy I mentioned recently whose daughter is getting eye surgery soon went to Ireland for a year after his wife left him, if I remember correctly.

It can be really fun with the right game and the right group. I had a lot of fun with the guild Ebon and I were in in WoW for a while, before it went sour. We split off from that group and had a lot of fun with another smaller guild before the expense of the game ended our playing days.
PFO would probably be a similar situation, especially with a FAWTL guild, if it wasn't for the "PvP always on, no option otherwise" thing. That turned me off the game forever. I contributed to the Kickstarter exclusively to get Emerald Spire; now that I have it, I have really no interest in the game further.

PvP ALWAYS on? No thanks.

Yep. It's like EVE - you can attack anybody you want, and anybody who wants to can attack you, and there's no PVP Off option. The only dissuading factor is the fear of getting beat down by someone else in return. Hardly something that'll stop trollish players, especially higher-level ones, from making a habit of ganking any newbies they see.

Bitter Thorn |

PVP isn't my first choice, but the community has been welcoming and friendly so I have high hopes.
They named the sub forum for Fool's Company (our little adventuring group)
FAWTLY Towers. I was tickled. I hope that's OK.
All are welcome, and if anyone signs up on GW you're invited to join Tavernhold for the land rush. You can switch later if you change your mind, but these guys seem pretty cool. :)

Emotionally draining day.
BUT the first time she started to go in the potty, she panicked. She started crying, wanting to get off the potty, and stopped going. This resulted in a few accidents later, one of which we caught in time to get her on the potty. Once again, when she started going on the potty she got scared and started crying.
This is going to be tough.

While I have no advice on potty training, you have reminded me of what I think is an interesting anecdote. When my nieces were younger (I think the eldest was 7 or 8 and the youngest around 5) the three of them, for no known reason, stopped flushing the toilet after using it. My brother and I were sharing an apartment and got fed up with walking into the bathroom to see an unflushed toilet. Sometimes there would be multiple children's worth of...stuff...in there. So my brother took my Dogma DVD, cues up the scene where the feces demon comes up out of the strip club toilet, and called his three lovely little girls into the living room. He sat them down, said "This is what happens when you don't flush," and pressed play. They were terrified of the "poopy monster" and did a good job of flushing from then on.

I hope the community dynamic overcomes Orthos very legitimate concerns, and the game isn't a mindless gank fest. This is an open community of PF players so I tend to think the beta will be cool. I hope this dynamic will guide the game after beta. There will always be douches, but the devs seem highly aware of the downside, and they seem to be driven by developing a very RP community game.
I would normally be more skeptical, but I am very encouraged by my experience with the PFRPG beta.
I hope people take a second look, and I hope the game doesn't disappoint.

Yep, PFO could go 2 ways, even with PvP always on. It could be like Eve or Rust - where ganking newbies is the whole point & justified in the game design, or there are a few PvP MMO's where there's enough content for PvE that it's not necessary for that to occur.
Really it depends if Goblinworks put in the effort to create enough content, quests and interesting things to do without just 'collecting resources' (either through PvP or grinding/farming).
Unfortunately, the sandbox aspect and the fact that it'd be easier for then not to make quests, NPC's and interesting objectives might encourage just a basic game and letting the players develop the world. And after watching some Rust, that seems like a bad thing(TM).

Yeah, consider my interest in PFO squashed. PvP is my least favourite aspect of any MMO. I will pass on that.
