At the moment I am necromancing old-old computer that was obsolete even before I got it from grandfather and wasn't in use since I got another reserve computer last year.
Also, I am using Ubuntu bootable disc (which seems to work when booted from a disk but fails to install) which makes it even slower than the machine...

And I think the boy has one as well, because he was drinking water like it was going out of style and was extraordinarily whiny this morning.
I blame FHDM.
On the one hand, it's true that spring makes allergies kick in like hell.
On the other, winter is guilty of many equally irritating things.
Clearly the solution is to ban all seasons except autumn.
look back - is it truly winters fault? Or is it because of springs fluctuations in temperature and increased exposure to people and their pathogens? Think about it....

Drejk, you need to suppress that electromagnetic field you've somehow acquired.
I blame water vein supposedly running below the house...
This would make sense of number of electronics' failures through the last thirty years, especially the rate at which magnetic diskettes for my Amiga tended to go invalid in '90.

Let's see, the things I dislike about winter....
> Inclement weather: worst of the year, unless you're in an area with spring flooding or tornadoes. (Which further goes to support my proposition of Autumn being the best season - usually not as much flooding in most areas AND tornado season ends in late summer!)
> It's COLD. In addition to being uncomfortable, this causes general difficulties in day-to-day living (icy ground/streets, vehicles being frozen shut and requiring several minutes spent warming up before its tolerable to drive to work, etc.)
> Increase in infections and decrease in general comfort, mostly due to cold weather.
> Increased level of general necessary maintenance.
Yeah I'd say Winter has plenty to answer for. Those are just the ones off the top of my head.
Don't worry though, Spring isn't off the hook either.

- snow can be difficult and deadly. But I'll take a snow storm over a tornado any day of the week.
- its easier to put clothes on to warm up instead of taking clothes off to cool down. And warm/hot weather brings problems too as pipes rupture and asphalt melts.
-increase in infections? More like decrease. Hot weather is a playground for infections, and all sorts of bugs. And there are many people who fare poorly in hot weather.
-increase in general maintenance? In summer maybe. I need three showers a day in summer or I am no fun to be around. I also need increased hydration and sodium.
So, you see, winter is quite pleasant. It's spring and summer that smile to your face and put a knife in your kidneys.

Just comes down to difference in perspective and experience. I've not had most of the problems you have with warm weather. (I'm always sicker when it's cold than in summer, I've never had to deal with melted asphalt, etc. etc.) You apparently don't have any of the ones I have with the cold. We're never going to convince each other of this, and I'm not trying to. I'm just listing my issues.
But simply put, no I don't find winter pleasant. At all.
(Also, pipes rupturing from heat must be a northern thing. All my life I've only heard of bursting pipes being due to freezing.)
EDIT: Also that maintenance line was about fixing stuff around the house, not personal maintenance like showering and stuff (that's not a use of the term I'm very used to, though I guess it makes sense). I find more stuff gets damaged when its cold than other times of year, again in equal competition with spring windstorms.

Did I mentioned that my computer started to act weirdly? Because it gone and died today... Just as I got up after a nap. Oh, wait, but you said that before on Tuesday... Nope, on Tuesday I was speaking about laptop... Today I am speaking about reserve computer I was using since that time.
How do you get on the forums?

You're very strange.
Mind you, I am no fan of summer heat, but I have never met someone so averse to mild Spring and Fall weather.

I also think population density has its effect on our experiences.

why does everyone keep saying this? It is not weird to hate summer or see spring and fall as teasing tastes of the chilly winter to come. Loving temperatures above fifty degrees Fahrenheit, now THATS weird!

Well, the week is turning a bit better for some of us, at least. Talked to grandmothrer (92) for a bit, and she seems better than she's been after her most recent hospital visit - and then IFK Göteborg won their third league game for the season. 4 played, 10 points, 7 goals scored, 0 goals conceded. FORZA AZURRI-BIANCO!
(And Grandma too!)

Same, though a bit more on the higher end. 60s-70s - aka "Jacket Weather" - has become my climate of choice in the past few years.
Again, Autumn is Best Season.

Finishing up a project that should be released next week or so if all goes well. Making a list of all the things I've promised to everyone but had to say "not until after this project is done first"....
Try not to let the list get too long. And take a Yoohoo break for God's sake man, you work too much!

Sweet! I have loved Robotech for years. Pledged the Kickstarter. Thanks FHDM, I probably wouldn't have found out about this otherwise.

Necromancing even older computer. Which barely works. And has no OS, only a bootable Ubuntu disk that fails to install properly but somehow, sometimes works when booted from DVD. Sometimes.

Missing cash. Yes, how hard is it for a customer to exit their car, look at the pump where ever they are at and have the correct information for the clerk. I do every time I purchase gas and this even before I pull my debit cards out of my wallet.
I mean it's a simple formula: Cash Amount + Pump Number + Make and Model of Car = equals error-free service.
