So I rolled high stats. Now what?

Advice

The Exchange

I've been involved in a Kingmaker campaign for a while. The party is a sword and board fighter, a gnome aberrant sorcerer focused on summoning, a archer ranger, and a melee cleric of Erastil. I, the cleric of Erastil, ran into trouble when I went to engage the Stag Lord, and it didn't end well. So I'm rolling up a new character.

I rolled a 17-16-14-13-13-12, and I'm curious to see if people have interesting ideas about what to play with these stats. I don't want to do a cleric again. I'm leaning toward a two-handed fighter, but considering a monk, and open to suggestions.

You got Melee covered, considering I have heard kingmaker has lots of downtime, another combat monkey seems redundant... That scratches another fighter out In my opinion.

A Gnome Aberrant sorcerer focused on summoning? you don't mean transmuting? seems that the niche of the aberrant sorcerer? maybe you meant abyssal or infernal sorcerer?.. Anyways got arcane magic covered up there, so scratch out any focused arcane caster...

Archer ranger nothing to comment here...

Possible options include:

*An oracle (its not a cleric XD but still heals)
*A Druid (can give all around support with healing and nature, but the ranger might probably have that covered)
*Monks are MAD (multi ability dependant) which you seem to have covered up with those good stats, but again, redundant since you already have 2 martial classes.
*A Rogue (OR Ninja) to cover social skills and the like
*A Bard has a bit of everything.
*An Iquisitor could be useful too

Id say monk or rogue :)

But, then I love monks...

High stats can be a reason to try out a versatile character like druid or inquisitor, or to break out a multi-class combo that might not work well otherwise, like theurge or trickster.

Also, remember the campaign. You're going to be outside a lot, far from civilization. A character who can do at least something outside of combat will be a plus.

I might go with druid, inquisitor, or bard.

As far as party design, it might be useful to have someone with good social skills, or someone with a few knowledge skills. You don't seem to have either at the moment. That can really be anybody, it's a matter of skill points.

Its Kingmaker, so be the King damit. Its either you or that abberant Gnome and if HE becomes King noone will take you seriously.

So...

Get your charisma 17 to be the King.
You need clerical support so be an oracle.
Oracle goes well with human so be a human.
The main gods of the campaign are Erastil and Gorum, you played a cleric of Erastil so thats out. So be an Oracle of BATTLES.

So what will it be Asaris? Will your kingdoms King be an gnome aberrant sorcerer that focuses on summoning OR an Oracle of Battles, chosen of Gorum? Your choice.

All that said inquisitor and druid would be interesting, but the best choice would be a lore oracle since he can easily cover social skills, knowledges and clerical support.

Agreed with John, except I suggest Witch for the character class.

Then you can be the Witch-King. :)

Well, if you wanted to be a monk now's the time.

Str:17 +2 strength: Wisdom is a trap for monks. You need to hit and you need to hit hard.

Dex 14

Con: 13

Int 13

Wis 16

Cha 12

17-16-14-13-13-12,

Human or half orc works well. You could be a doorstop baby.

-An archery inclined bard might not be a waste considering how many people you'd be giving your bonuses to. Also good social skills.

-A smart druid with rogue skills and either a level of rogue or a slew of Skill focus feats. Either way, perception is your friend.

Maybe it's my old-school roots, but whenever I see huge stats, I immediately think "Paladin!"

Especially if replacing a cleric. :)

You want two-handed? Get proficiency in bastard sword and have the best of both worlds. :)

Sadly, Paladin is out, as I suspect our gnome is CE. I'm leaning towards cavalier, actually, if anyone has any advice.

+1 to the Oracle of Battle.

You can fight in melee, or you could buff. AND youre CHA based so go be the king.

I haven't looked at the class all that in depth but I always thought that playing an Anti-paladin would be fun.

Barring that I would go with Monk or Witch.

But coming back from the dead might give you some mental health issues, making you the Lich-Witch-Twitch-King.

Anti-Paladin with channeled smites

a barbarian, so many nice options in APG ^^

Inquisitor or Bard, a bit of everything.. and the party needs a little healing

Hmm I am also kinda confused about making a cavalier.

I will give it a try though. Lets say a typical shield order cavalier with lance and shield.

Shield order cause converting ability drain to nontlethal damage is priceless.
Lance and shield because only the cavalier can make it work well.

I guess ability array would be sth like:

str 17
dex 13
con 16
int 13
wis 14
cha 12

Feats should be sth like
1st power attack, iron will (human), precise strike (tactician)
3rd mounted combat
5th ride by attack
6th spirited charge
7th combat reflexes (synergizes with the buffed stand still)
9th outflank (tactician) your fighter buddy will love you
11th dazing assault
12th improved initiative

Also if your cavalier goes the two weapon fighting route he should put the 16 to his dexterity.

Orders that use charisma will obviously benefit from higher charisma.

How does it look?

And if you were angry about it, they would experience the Wrath of the Lich Witch Twitch King

Ranger, eventually going to Bard, and Mystic Theurge.

This will keep your enormous stats from overshadowing all of the other players.

Proposed name: Bo'a Tan'chor.
