I would probably guess not. I think the high price for guns comes with the fact that this technology is cutting edge for a fantasy RPG-based setting. Also, the +1 to attack from being MW would send hordes of PO'ed folks that don't understand why their character doesn't start out with a MW weapon as well.

This seems like a rather important detail - firearms are priced extremely high already.
Are they masterwork? Can they even be masterwork, given the "explode in your hands" fun?
I suspect that no, they do not start out as masterwork weapons, and yes, you can get a masterwork version.
Personally, I think it'd be better if they "counted as masterwork already", the way special materials do, but did not provide the benefits of being masterwork (touch attack > +1 attack). I think it would better fit the theme that's trying to be set up with these powerful but unstable weapons.

Makes sense, though I like the idea of a gunslinger starting with a gun, and lovingly taking care of it and adding abilities to it as they progress through levels. Maybe treat it more like a familiar in some way? Too much mechanic for a weapon, though, unless it was treated like the Paladin's divine bond with a weapon.

How would the heirloom weapon Trait interact with this @ first lvl, Since the Gunslinger starts with a firearm?
You carry a weapon that has been passed down from generation to generation in your family. This heirloom weapon is of masterwork quality (but you pay only the standard cost at character creation). You gain a +1 trait bonus on attack rolls with this specific weapon and are considered proficient with that specific weapon (but not other weapons of that type) even if you do not have the required proficiencies.
Does he now get a masterwork firearm for free? or does he get a masterwork firearm @ 1000g price?

Good question. I'm tempted to say that you get the masterwork firearm instead of the normal firearm at first level, if you are a gunslinger. Anyone else would have to pay 1,000 gp or 1,500 gp for the masterwork weapon (pistol or musket).

Adventurer's Armory, I think.
Yep, page 30, right-hand column.
I was wondering about it, too.
Masterwork, and the +1 trait bonus to hit with that specific weapon....

just to clarify, would a gunslinger who chooses pistols get 2 heirloom pistols or 1 heirloom and a regular one?
i think it's 1 and 1 but would be very happy if wasn't.

Another question: Could a gunslinger pay just the masterwork cost to start with a masterwork gun? Like pay just the 300gp, and have the gun he/she starts with be masterwork?
Was talking to my brother-in-law and we figured that was ho we'd work it. My question though is can a wizard take a masterwork firearm as their Arcane bond item? Had a concept for a arcane "Gun Mage" and thought that might be kinda cool.

Except that your starting money is only 150gd not the 300 you would need to purchase masterwork.
My 2cp heirloom weapon would give a starting gunslinger a masterwork musket w/ 50 charges and bullets or 1 masterwork pistol and 1 regular pistol w/ no charges or bullets.
