If you cast a touch spell and miss the touch, is your attempt next round to touch them still a swift action, meaning you get a full round attack or can cast another spell afterwards that round if you want to? It seems to me like it would become a standard action after the round it's cast.
After a missed attempt you make standard action attacks with the touch spell for following rounds.
Also, I dont think that the free touch attack as part of casting the spell is a swift action. I beleive (may be wrong) that it is part of the standard action to cast the spells.
So I could cast Vampiric Touch and make a touch attack and cast a Swift Action Quickened Magic Missile.

A few thoughts on Kalyth post:
1. Cast the quicken magic missile first so if you miss with the vampiric touch you don't lose the touch spell for casting another spell.
2. Further attacks with a touch spell do not require a standard action -- you can make them as part of a full round attack action (say swing with the sword, touch attack with the off hand) but:
If you use a weapon in one hand and touch attack in the other it is two weapon fighting -- make sure you want those penalties before you do it.
You could simply full attack with touch attacks if you are using a spell like chill touch that gives multiple touches and get off more than one in a round provided you have the BAB for multiple attempts.

It is not stated what sort of action it is to make a touch attack outside of the round where it is made.
One of the devs has stated an aversion to having it act as an attack, but the raw states point blank that you can use an active touch attack to make an attack of opportunity. So by raw the touch attack would have to either be
1) Its own funky action or
2) (and my interpretation) an attack action, meaning it can be taken with multiple bab, as part of two weapon fighting, or used to augment a natural attack.

So what happens when you make a natural attack with the appendage the charge is on?(claw or what have you)
Or, similarly, if you're a monk caster hybrid you could hypothetically flurry using only that appendage correct?
In either case does a successful attack also mean successful touch delivery? I presume in both situations you would not be attacking their touch AC and a miss against their appropriate AC means a failure to deliver as well?

Something like that yeah, I don't have the specifics in front of me but it is covered in the combat section for natural attacks, or the magic section on touch attacks and holding the charge -- I don't remember all the specifics right now and got to put the baby down for a nap.
