It takes me awhile to get comfortable and warm up to large crowds and gatherings at various events where I don't know anyone.

Reminded me of one of the final scenes of Megamind... something like "Back away you savages!"

RPG Superstars should start developing the same mentality now. Put yourself out there. Let people get to know you. Don't just hide behind your designs.

It's by Anthony Adam - WHO?

There may come a day when someone playing this game doesn't recognize that name. But it is not this day! And...

"...A day may come, when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves, and shattered shields when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! For all that you hold dear, on this good earth, I bid you stand, men of the west!"

And now I can't resist posting this.

what about those of us whose online presences are primarily on other not-directly-competing-but-could-be-considered-in-some-areas-in-a-pinch websites? For instance, until this years competition, I spent all my gaming time on a (to currently remain nameless) play by Post site.

I've yet to search through the rules to find out if links to off-site stuff are okay or not.

Ronars, I don't think I understand your question.

I think maybe he means he doesn't have a big presence on Paizo.com forums but does alot of stuff elsewhere, aka at a play by post messageboard site, is it okay to link to his stuff back on the latter website?

Or is the question can you promote yourself on other websites to drum up votes? I know I did this last year but kept it to simple, "Hey, I'm in Paizo's RPG Superstar contest. Come check it out and if you feel my entry was interesting, a vote my way is much appreciated." Be wary though, you don't want to break the rule about talking about your thoughts or details on your entry during the voting process.

I feel disadvantaged now. My item was small and had a dumb name and my online personality is fractured and irreverent.

If either of those is his question, I think Rule #5 of the Official Rules answers it:

Dear Nebulous Mistress,

In the hope that it will make you feel better, I refer you to *this*, which takes some beating in the small and dumb name item stakes...
As to irreverent: these are the Paizo messageboards, where the PostMonster General introduced a special feature which, odds are, if you mention a particular word awards you with the avatar of a small blue likely hat-wearing creature that originated in the European lowlands. Irreverent fits right in in many situations.
I'm not clear on what you mean in this case by fractured personality, but frankly I'm not some evil baatezu (that's devil in modern parlance) lawyer type who's going to go trawling through your past posts analysing each and every one... Well not unless you severely provoke me. And everyone has the occasional bad day when you wake up and need to lay a small town to waste to vent your feelings... that's understood by most easy-going folk (unless they had friends in the town).
Hoping that this post has been Helpful.

Yours,

Ask A Succubus.

Hey, not fair, I should have responded to that one!

Hmmph. I shall linkify Sean's post then:

Best part of your note. But I'm lawful, the small town needs to have angered me or violated cosmic law in some way or I feel bad and then eat all the food in the pantry (called soul food for a reason ;) ). ::feels better::

Er, yeah that was what I meant. All of the stuff I work on regularly is on another site that isn't Paizo. As far as I can tell by reading the messageboard FAQ, there is no rule against it - but as there is a rule about it on my site, I want to actually be sure before I go and say 'hey everyone, go read my other free adventures'.

To summarize; my question is, can I post off-site links in my profile in interest of having interested parties reach my other stuff?

Sure.

BTW, Seth, I think you (and anyone else who's made it into RPG Superstar) should add links to your entries in your Paizo.com message board profile. :)

Good advice! Followed.

As a committed "reclusive hermit/monk" in real life, I have found it difficult to break the habit online. However, I also want to win this contest! You haven't seen much of me here recently since my holidays were followed by major surgery, from which I am still recovering. However, I remain fired up by RPG Superstar enough to follow the boards regularly, and whether I make the first tier or not, my enthusiasm for this contest will continue to be storm-giant-sized! I encourage everyone to vote and make cogent and constructive comments for each contestant. Wishing everyone the best of luck.

Excellent. Now, I just need the time to do so. ;)

I'd say it starts with knowing the difference between a wondrous item and a wonderous item. ;-)

My first reaction to reading this was to rush back to my entry and check and see if I'd spelled 'wondrous' right. I wonder how many others had that reaction even if it's impossible to fix it this late after the fact.

Disclaimer: I will neither confirm nor deny whether my spelling of 'wondrous' was correct or not, and this post shouldn't be taken as any admission of guilt or lack there of.
