Which feat for my level 5 Elf Witch?

Hi guys

I recently leveled up with my witch, but I am a hat at deciding feats. Please help :-)

My witch started a career as a hunter, so she is very good at perception and stealth. I have put some points into knowledge skills and spellcraft as well.
She is slightly insane, and convinced that her cat familiar is a dragon in disguise.

My first two feats were toughness and scribe scroll. I want improved familiar at lvl 7 so I can get a pseudodragon (even though they suck, but one of those fit my character concept).

I will probably be taking arcane blast at lvl 11. The witch is poor against non-living opponents, and a bit of blasting ability would do much to help with that.

I considered getting augmented summoning, but I need two feats for that, and the spell focus feat sucks.

Combat casting would be nice, but a bit dull.

Extra traits would be nice as well - I could put them in stealth and survival, which would fit well with the character concept.

Breadth of experience, perhaps? +2 to all knowledge is nice.

Suggestions, comments?


My standard suggestion would be Extra Hex; there are enough decent low-level hexes that one more couldn't hurt.


Without knowing your spells and hexes, this is an impossible question to answer.

I would say, in general, that Extra Hex is always a good feat for a witch. Also, spell focus in either necromancy or enchantment, depending on which area you focus more in could be useful. Spell Penetration is very useful, especially since you can't take it with either of your upcoming feats.


I have the Fly, Evil Eye and healing hexes. I will probably get slumber at level 6, and fortune at level 8.

Regarding spells, I have most 1st and 2nd lvl spells by now. Given the party composition (Barb, Bard, Paladin and Sorc), I will probably mostly be primarily buffing removing Bad Stuff (poison, disease, etc), and summoning.

Spell Penetration sounds good as well. Decisions, decisions.


I would take Extra Hex, I think. The sorcerer will be doing the heavy opponent spell damage, so they can worry with the Spell Penetration. I'd get another Hex, like Cackle, or Misfortune. Or maybe Cauldron, so you can make a ton of healing potions for the team.


Extra Hex, Craft Wounderous Item, Extra Trait I like them all.


Extra Hex is the way to go. Just gives you more options with a power that you can use all the time.

Extra Hex is pretty much always the default answer for witch's when you are unsure on what feat to take. I think it is over all the best one to a point. You are building a concept obviously which is cool. I would say anything you are unsure and have nothing you need to take for the concept then take the extra hex feat.
