Crafter and Caster for item creation separate?

Rules Questions

Just a quick question

was looking for the rules on making magic items with 2 people.
i.e. one person has the craft feat and the other has the require caster level and spell.

so for example if you made a craft monkey cohort could you then use your own caster level or a caster in the group to allow the cohort to craft at your level instead of his ?

and does that apply for all crafting feats ?

The caster level of an Item is not a requirement unless it is in the requirement list. For crafting it just sets the DC of the crafter's roll. (DC = CL+5)

you sure about that ?

got a rule ref I can see to confirm that ?

You can cast buff spells to up the chance of success for the crafter.
I think your chance for a masterwork item is better with a human crafter. I hope your use of the term monkey was a figure of speech.
Can you get someone to awaken the monkey to make it smarter?

anyone point me to the rule for this

Ruling by Developer Sean K. Reynolds:
Caster level is only a prerequisite for creating the item IF the caster level is LISTED in the Requirements section of the item (for an example, see amulet of mighty fists).

The text on page 460 is a little unclear and probably is derived from the (wrong) SRD text taken from the (wrong) DMG 3.0 magic item introduction (where Monte wrote it correctly, then someone changed it to something wrong and that's how it got published, and fixed in the errata for 3.0, and then 3.5 was written by updating the original 3.0 Word documents, which didn't incorporate the 3.0 errata, and thus went to print with wrong information again). Anyway, caster level is NOT a prereq unless the item's Requirement section specifically lists a caster level.

Hmmmm....

Just read this in the APG, under Magic Items:

The creator's caster level must be as high as the item's caster level (and additional requirements may effectively put a higher minimum on the creator's level).

As far as I've read, this was not in the CRB.
