Well, it's reached that time in the campaign. My character has more money than he knows what to do with and is getting creative. Specifically I'm planning on building the party a mobile base. I'm looking at basing it off the wagon stats but what would you all recommend I add to it to a: make it somewhat more survivable, b: make it able to carry all that loot that otherwise we'd need a portable hole or bags of holding for, and c: make it just a cool item to have in game?
So far I'm considering finding an extra-dimensional space modification to make it bigger on the inside than on the outside, and throwing a turret mounted ballista on top. I may have stabilizers I drop to fire said ballista.

Interesting, for a sand-box game we had the characters wanted to customize his wagon with flying, dimension shift, etc..
Thanks god it was only a low level campaing, they just added a basic trap in the rear of the wagon and a secret door in the floor of the wagon. Both things saved their lifes in one encounter.

Really, before you even start thinking about practical uses, you need to first:
1. Slam said wagon to within 3 inches of the ground.
2. Install hydralic risers to get wagon back off the ground in case you actually want to use it.
3. Install neon underlighting for the old-but-never-tired hover look.
4. Give it a nitro pack. Consider multiple fire extinguishers sometime later.
5. Consume the back 2/3 of the wagon's cargo space with a 5-million-watt stereo system that sure to be more devastating than a cursed Lyre of Building.
6. Paint it some garish color scheme. Or better, use it as a rolling advertisement for your favorite candy bar.
7. Wrap the wheels in a 1/2 inch of rubber for that "big-rim" look.
8. Hang something obnoxious from the rear-view mirror.
Once you've spent all your hard earned money on these frivolities, then you can worry about how to use the monstrosity you've created. Priorities, man, priorities!

I'm with Bomanz, spend some money are some really kick-a@# creatures to draw it first. Other than that, I think Floating Disk is a good idea for the levitate. Some head-lights/search lights (rig them up with Everburning Torch, some mirrors and a swivel housing with a cover) for those night time safari trips. Get something put together with one of the endless food items and a Decanter of Endless Water for a great snack bar. It should of course fold out of the side for maximum effeciency. This also makes a great disguise as traveling merchants of various frivolities.
And if you really need to blow some cash, a bag of tricks coupled with a catapult leads to some very amusing situations.

That is all
Or maybe a Rod of Wonder that activates at random objects/people you pass by.

I like the idea! I'm playing in a Bard's game (4th Dwarf Bard, 3rd Fighter/1st Bard Elf, and 3rd Rogue/1st Bard Gnome), but we haven't figured out a name yet. Picked out spells that could be used for the performances (pyro, illusions, etc).
Of course, we'll have to have our (cara-)van. Possibly painted up with an acountant on the side!

First you need an awesome engine. I suggest paying off some dragons, making undead triceratops, or some huge honkin clockwork steeds.
Also you'll need a security system, go for the flesh golem bouncers. Much easier to handle then owlbears.
Hot tub should go on top but make sure it's covered so dead flying enemies don't flop in it. If you can fit enough extra room in it then put in some extra clockwork stallions for spare tires or if you need to make a getaway...which reminds me also remember to load up tons of gun powder in case some dirty vampire thinks he can take it over.
Try to track down a wizard to make you some magic missile launchers and some grease slicks deployers in the back.
Build it with pure enchanted steel or, if you can manage make it out of brick and masonry so it can be animated by an urban druid and work like a smart house.
Monkey butler optional.

A pair of eversmoking bottles piped to discharge out the back (smokescreen).
Have the wagon levitate just off the ground and get your haulage beasts whatever-shoes of the zephyr to have them levitate just off the ground.
Get everburning torches cast on a long thin rod (in purple) and mount on the underside.

Depends on the actual cash available. I'd go for a magnificent mansion (discounted for being part of a mere wagon) as the starting point of the DeLux Adventuring WagonTM.
I find myself with about 10k that I don't know what to do with. We just finally got a chance to sell accumulated loot from several levels worth of slaying. My GM suggested that I look at the stronghold builder's guide and use the wagon as half a stronghold space for making it bigger inside. Beyond that having everything hover seems like a good idea as we're traveling over broken terrain in Ustalav. Oh, and being hunted by wererats, aberrations, undead gypsies, and fallen paladins.
