How to increase caster level without gaining spellcasting levels?

I am thinking of making a sorcerer 1/rogue x so that I can learn and cast the vanish spell several times each day.

However, being invisible for 1 round is hardly worth it. I am looking for methods of boosting my sorcerer caster level WITHOUT having to take more levels of sorcerer. Ideally, I'll get enough to max out vanish's 5 round duration.

Anyone know how?

Why not just take the Minor Magic and Major Magic traits to get Vanish as a spell-like with CL=Rogue Level? You need Minor Magic to get Major Magic, so you can pick up a neat cantrip too.

Assuming you're only allowed PF, you want the traits Magical Knack and Gifted Adept.

That's +3 CL. Get an orange ioun stone and you're at 5th caster lvl.

The trait magical knack adds 2 caster levels (caster level not to exceed character level). Orange ioun stone (30k gp) adds one to caster level. Those are the two methods I know of. There are bard performances that can also increase caster level, though that would be hard to count on.

For what you are doing, magical knack is the easiest and cheapest way to get 2 caster levels.

Arcane concordance is a third level bard song that increases arcane caster level. I'm thinking that the arcane subdomain has something too but I'm too tired to actually look it up.

Are those both arcane traits? Last I checked, you could not have two traits from the same category.

Likewise, trait bonuses don't stack either.

Yeah you best bet is the rogue talents Minor Magic and Major Magic which would give ya vanish 2/day by level 4

Yeah RD, you're right there, our group doesn't use that rule and i forgot.

@Pathos: um, one's a trait bonus and one increases the caster level.

k, what about one of those + Varisian Tattoo.

And you get a free Ghost Sound.

practiced spellcaster, a feat from 3.5 complet arcane, gives a sorcerer 1/rogue 4 caster lv. 5 (for sorcerer spells only)(page 82)

+ The trait magical knack adds 2 caster levels (caster level not to exceed character level). Orange ioun stone adds one to caster level

=caster level 8

4-from practiced spellcaster
2-from magical knack
1-from Orange ioun stone
1-from sorcerer 1

The Magical Knack and Practiced spellcaster would not stack, IMHO, so the best you'd get is CL6. (4 from practiced, 1 from Ioun stone, 1 from sorc)

Why exactly wouldn't they stack? Magical Nack gives a trait bonus, practiced spell caster is certainly not a trait bonus. It just wouldn't be able to push you over your current hd.

You could go Arcane Trickster 4 or Dragon Disciple 6, or just boost UMD and buy a wand.

You could also play a Sandman Bard, as the spell is on the bard list. I'ts a cool archetype, you get spell stealing abilities, trap sense and some sneak attack starting at level 5 - not that it matters a lot since once the ennemy is sleeping (you get a performance that mimic deep slumber with no hd limit at level 6...) you can coup de grace him.
