Magic item price check

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I just realised that me (the DM) and my players have a very different way to come up with the exact price of magic item, more precisely magic weapons!

dwarven waraxe +1 => 2000 gold
flaming quality => +1 enhancement price

So a +1 flaming waraxe => +2 weapon
Total price = 8000 gold

I'm i correct?

Dark Archive

Yes.

Or more precisely 8320 gp.

20- Longsword

300 masterwork (you must make the weapon mw to enchant it)
8,000- It is effectively a +2 weapon
______
8,320

You do not use

20 Longsword
300 masterwork
1000 +1
1000 Flaming
____
2320

Or else everyone would have +1 shocking flaming thundering freezing acidic weapons.

Geez i know a magic weapon got to be MW but i thought the masterwork price was included in the 2000 gold base tag!

I am looking for a rules clarification on the belt of giant strength it says that it is a temporary modifier for 24 hours. Does that mean that after 24 hours the item becomes a normal belt or that after 24 hours it becomes permanent ability increase as long as the belt is worn and takes 24 hours to attune itself. it would seem fairly pointless for the items cost to be useless after 24 hours unlike all the other magic items of its cost that do not degrade.

If the item does degrade itself after 24 hours do most DM's house rule the item does not degrade itself. I am asking as a DM myself that has about 5 sessions under my belt and started a campaign with level 5 PCs and magic items are abundant.

Plz. clarify what you think

The bonus is temporary for 24 hours, then becomes permanent for as long as the belt is worn. The reason it's like this is because the item can allow you to qualify for certain feats and other things as a prerequisite. So you can get power attack with a 12 str and a belt of giant str, for example.

Also, a new thread would have been fine. a 1 yr necro is kinda frowned upon
