Lizardfolk

i'm looking forward to (hearing) seeing it =). Good luck Captain! *Salutes*

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

On another note, I'm sitting at a friend's home at the moment. He was overlooking the thread, and I wanted to ask on his behalf - do we have any more free spots, or are we full-up?

I was going to open up Olek's spot, so if you have a friend, he's welcome.

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

Alright - go ahead and roll up his stats for him - he was thinking something like a warlock or rogue, but nothing like the nonsense we've put in our past (cough cough). But, I'll help him get finished and set up by tonight. He's known as SilentMan on these boards, and it's his first pbp, but he's a really good roleplayer.

Actually, also been waiting to get to post and thinking idea for the "circle of magi" trait. Running ideas but just trashing them after each another huoh

Liberty's Edge

rAZ CAN POST WHENEVER HE LIKES, HE'S ALREADY ON THE SHIP AND CAN TIE HIMSELF INTO ANY OF THE CURRENT PLOTS IF HE LIKES.

I just realized caps lock was on, and I'm too lazy to backspace.

same spiel you guys got, you don't have to take them in order, but if you want to play an 'ironman' character that's the order they were rolled.

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

He should end up posting tonight, I just have to go bug him now.

On other notes, that's a really nice array. Almost wish I'd gotten something like that!

Male Human Swordsage 8, Warblade 6

Thanks for the invite, looking foward to this.

I should have the character finished later this afternoon since I wont have computer access for a while.

Lizardfolk

Welcome aboard bro =)

Liberty's Edge

Welcome.

As far as getting you in game, your not on the current crews rooster, but I had an event that would allow you to get in game coming right up. So I'll post when your good to go.

Work is frantic this week, so it may be tomorrow or Wednesday, possibly later but hopefully not.

Liberty's Edge

Raz,

Do you want to be surprised when you use that orb, or would that character used it by now?

Up to you.

When I use it :D Getting excited, what will happen, when I use it hehe

Okay, that should be perfect.

It will give some time to flesh out the character some more.

Male Human Swordsage 8, Warblade 6

@DM;

I do have to ask, How would you take to running a Warlock? I have read over how you handle typical spell casters and the such and am curious to know as how you would run the powers of such a character, if it is a bother then I will resort to a Rogue instead if it is preferred.

And how do you run HP's, do you roll them or do I, using the forum roller?

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

All I need to post, is to see how many NPCs actually show up to his beckon and call - after all, I don't want to control them and force them to listen to this speech, hm? ;)

*Evil laugh from under the deck* Good... Goooood! You are grasping the way, young pirate! The world is right ahead you! aah, how much I love to affect the innocent minds... proceed and your reward is big

It seems our friendly surgeon is affecting even from the "grave" >D

Magic is iffy, that includes eldritch blast and powers, but once they "activate" those with 24 hour durations last all day as normal. It may work seemingly fine until you need it most etc. It's a crap shoot that I haven't enforced yet, but is coming.

HP is max per dice + con.

It is not a problem for me if you want to play a Warlock.

I'll address that later today in an IC post for you.

I had an friendly argument with a former DM of mine about Petrification and what you can do while stoned. He was trying to convince me he could still do mental actions, to which I scoffed, I mean his brain is stone, he's effectively dead with just a few more options to coming back alive.

In the end I won out the argument, but it was a fun verbal debate on your fate.

We both thought you would make a great Figurehead though

Sounds cool and I like (thumbs up)! :P

It really makes nice impression of Evil guy stoned and being figurehead of ship... People seeing this must be friendly :D

IC Thread Updated:
The crew has assembled, minus Kripya and Garth. Garth for obvious reasons, he isn't there, and Kripya feels it unsafe for her to be out with out some kind of mask or protection.

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

Makes sense. Speech posted. Hope it ain't bad. I really wish I'd put more description in.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

may I introduce Darius D. Drevard

I have finally managed to get most of him finalized (even though I'm at work). at this point I'm still fine tuning his equipment as I have yet to choose a magic item that would fit the kind of personality I'm envisioning for him,

Other than that all I need is to finish his background, however he is pretty much ready to go.

Some input from my fellow gamers and DM would be greatly appreciated.

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

And, it's almost as if nobody wants to post after my speech... humm.

Female Halfling Druid 3

Posted, and it seemed appropriate! ;)

F Exotic Elf TBA

Added post as well. Remember, I'm on the other side of the world from most of you folks. (^_~)

The time zone difference gets in the way some times.

Hehe, same :P

I love little bit this alignment systems, since they give me also a way to play realistically my character (hey, I am supposed to be between people with Neutral guy :P)

PS: and thanks to Willpower for character ideas :) It is true that instead of PCs, NPCs are also living in this world and reacting to them / having opinion. I am interested to play along this line, since just grabbed Gelied = he should be playing along this line.

Actually, I am interested to know: Can you tell us shortly, what is opinion of the passangers / NPCs towards PCs and each other? PCs mainly and now what are they thinkign about Galied.

Of course, this is sandbox game and we are free to do play quite freely, so not getting hampered by that at least :) Just interested how they are seeing us

I can't tell you how the PCs feel, but how the NPCs feel about Raz are fairly indifferent. He hasn't really stood out yet as he just came into the spot light and hasn't made major impressions yet.

The crew speaks of Kai'itza fairly well, and Suny fairly unwell. My note cards state why, but for me to just say why isn't a secret. Go back and listen to the words spoken by each, and actions taken from the point of view of someone watching them. Then it's easy (for me anyway) to see how I came about those impressions. I wouldn't want to just give you that info without working for it.

Feel free to simply go to a specific NPC and ask them. No harm in simply asking: "Hey, what do you think of Avion anyway?"

I stress again though, there isn't a wrong way to play in this game no matter how you want to play your characters. Impressions can change drastically with one good or evil act, or build slowly through small actions.

I am the kind of DM that keeps track of those things, as it leads to unique followup plot points, or believable interactions. It makes for an organic world, eventually it'll be too hard to role play a city npc for npc, but for now it's manageable.

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

I completely agree with how you're doing it. I knew I as a player had skipped over that part that our friendly gnoll had to bring up right there of all places.

It dirties the captain's impression of him - it could have been brought up in private, in his mind, but I as a player completely agree. Now, then, we get to search this boat, room by room...

My bad, 18hr day at work lol ^^;;;;;; I saw it on my blackberry but I have no HTML support so no posting :( but i did now, although we posted nearly at the same time lol Oops~

Well spoken I must say good sir *applauds*

DM: It is awesome that you are keeping track of interactions as you are, it is definitely interesting at the thought of finding out more of what everyone thinks of others. Especially the thought of finding out some juice tidbits >=)

But Kai is definitely shocked and impressed that Grunge was brave (or foolish) enough to cast aside his warrior heritage and show his fear before everyone. At least now we can put it to rest and gain a strong ally =)

Male Half-elf, aquatic Swashbuckler 3

Oh, it happens. I just wonder what will happen next, since Kai wants to add people to the search.

Last I checked, the less people that know who the culprit is, the less chance they'll talk about it... =P

Lizardfolk

True, but Kai is thinking simply that the more we hide the more they begin to suspect we are hiding something. Which will lead to more distrust and possibly a more 'dramatic' confrontation. But if we offer to have them come with us and they do not then they can't complain later because they passed up the chance to know. Although if someone starts spreading rumors it will be squashed by Kai because if there is no truth to it then they better get ready to get called out.

Tell the truth, keep it simple. Thats Kai's views on most things nowadays.

But in Kai's mind the culprit isn't human or unscaled by no means, and if we find it... There won't be any way to hide another battle below decks again =/

There is even a reason for that too. :) Poor Grunge developed a few phobias of dying he didn't have before the storm.

Going Ironman? Gygax approves.

I guess would be time to get my familiar out... but somehow I always choose do it at wrong point. First with Avion: undead attacking and controlling ( I love it! :))

Now will be searching for murderer, who disappears and can´t be fidden and our brave little gnome just happens to summon a creature... (well, depends what it is :P)... so, I have high expectancy :P

Bring it on Willpower! Choose your Poke.. uh, I mean, Familiar! *'Throws ball and summons... 'something-from-the-ball/orb'*

Liberty's Edge

Throwing the orb across the room doesn't quite activate it. Sorry.

Liberty's Edge

Been swamped with work, I should get around to a big post tomorrow which should allow/introduce our new Warlock.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Would it then be appropriate that I update the character sheet now then, for there were somethings that I still would like to finish before I begin, like the Magic item and to one of my skills?

Spoiler:
craft clothing > craft weaponsmithing

And is there anything of note on the character sheet that should be examined further before he is allowed into the game?

I'll give it a good look over tomorrow, but you can take your time if you're in no rush.

I won't really require it to be 100% for the most part until an event happens again. Stuff like skills and feats though you should narrow down first if possible. Esp. skills as this is a bit heavier on the RP than combat most times.

Male Human Fighter 1/ Warlock 2

Will do, I should be ready to go by tommorow afternoon.

Liberty's Edge

I'm going to move Olek to NPC status for awhile, and if he remains awol he will be removed. He will retain the ability to come back, but if he is awol this long I suspect he moved on.

Liberty's Edge

I'm also going to open up a slot possibly today to replace Olek, if you guys have no issue with that.

Liberty's Edge

Darius, I checked out what you have so far and it looks OK.
(it's Elven, not Elvin, though under languages. Unless that's a new language for Elven Elvis impersonators that I'm not familiar with ;P)

Your intro event post is coming shortly, but i wanted to pre-frame you about the worlds hatred of demons. Demons were a good 90% of the reason why the last world ended, 10% being Dwarves, which people outright hate as well.

So don't be surprised that other Warlocks don't call themselves Warlocks, or deflect their unusual powers as powered by something else.

It's merely a roleplaying angle, but talk of demons (including warlock powers, which are usually tied to infernal energies.) would be like bringing up sex in a church. It won't go over well, and may lead to witch hunts.

Other than that i always loved Warlocks as a class, and how you approach those powers is all up to you. I don't assume a player creating a rogue is a thief, so if you don't want to draw that power from demons, that choice is up to you.

Female Halfling Druid 3

Reminds me of the Warlock I thought up once.. DM was fine with his powers coming from the Elemental Plane of Water..

Eldritch Spear = Pressurized Blast of Water

Exactly.

Lizardfolk

Nice entry for Darius, a bit dark, but very neat. It seems alot of us have something to hide or a bit of madness from escaping the end of the world. >=)

Now that dead calm sea thing is really BAD >.<; I remember in a navy campaign I was in running into a Sargasso. Mainly a lot of kelp and sea plants caused our ship to stop dead in undead and aberration filled waters. Stuff was so thick you literally could walk on it, until the horrors that lurked their pulled you under. ;) It was a pain to escape and we lost a lot of the crew in the process.

Very nicely done DM =).

Liberty's Edge

Just trying to set the mood a little. :) But thanks, I of course have my own twists in store, but there is a possibility that they go unseen for now.

There's a good chance another idea I had for this mini-event goes a totally different way.

Liberty's Edge

Hope you dig the familiar Raz, I wrote up a whole different animal earlier, then as I was posting totally changed it up with an idea for something as cool.

It gets cooler as you level up, and if you need help with how it works just ask, and by how it works, I mean the mechanics of items as familiars, not all of it's secret stuff :P

And seeing as your tied into the Circle of magi, I'll give you a few tidbits here and there when appropriate with checks or lore related to them.

Yah, I like it alot. Seems kind of warforged idea, but familiar, who is stuck to his master. I guess that is also metallic theme now... really, really appropriate for Wizard with alchemist as a side-hobby

It would be interesting to see, how it works as you said. Need to come up with post now and describe it with IC :)
